CFSM Not Downloading right

I am completely new to this whole set of things that revolve around rocksmith. But this journey has been nuts so far. 

So first things first that I'm sure people will wonder, (as these issues I have encountered and had to figure out how to fix.) ;
I have Cherub Rock.
CDLC is working right.
My sound cable is working.
I can access steams overlay.

Next, I am wanting the .DD files of songs ( as i am brand new to learning guitar) so looked up how to do that. I was told to get the CFSM here : https://ignition4.customsforge.com/tools/CFSM

When I DL it for windows, my VLC media player wants to open it for some reason, and when I go to properties to change "open with" I don't know what option to look for.

 

I feel like I keep missing something to just make this game run smoothly. If its not one thing, its another. and its making feel like an idiot. But I feel like there are "so many DIFFERENT fixes" that not one fix is right.

The cable wasn't working in most of my USB ports, did not matter if it was 2.0 or 3.0. FINALLY found a port the chord worked in.

One person said "run as administrator" to fix the chord for some reason, which broke my game cause it wasn't allowing the steam overlay to be accessed and it also made Cherub Rock invisible, which made the CDLCs invisible. As soon as I took off "run as admin" off, the game worked again. but that took a day to figure out THAT was the issue because i was focused on other things.

 

But now as stated above, the DL isn't working now for CFSM. not sure what to do from here, unless theres an easier way to get the DD files. is there a way to search for songs that have DD files? I feel like that would be an amazing searching/filtering feature. unless im not aware of it.

You can use something like win rar/7zip to open zip files, if vlc didn't change your permissions you should be able to just open it with windows explorer instead though. There's nothing wrong with the downloaded file itself.

All songs made after 2016 already have DD since rocksmith remastered requires it for them to work properly, so the DD filter was removed as it was redundant.
