Hi, I just got Rocksmith about 2 weeks ago, and just found customsforge and have been exploring it the past couple days. 

 

I was wondering what you folk's opinion of the beginner songs are in regard to: I am inexperienced with playing lead guitar, although I can do okay with rhythm, but this week's song kings of Leon, lead, is super difficult for me. Would you expect someone to be able to develop the skill to play "beginner" songs in this championship fairly quickly? I feel sort of discouraged that it's so tough.

 

Does anyone have some advice on how to develop the skills to play this well? I have been doing riff repeater on slower speed in sections to get the patterns down, but full speed is WAY fast for me now.

 

I will try to keep doing this championship and get my skills better. Thanks so much.

The next time Original rocksmith is on sale at steam, you should buy it and the song import tool. It has an excellent set of beginner friendly songs The import tool allows you to play original rocksmith songs in rocksmith 2014/remastered, and you don't actually ever have to touch the original rocksmith at all :)

 

As for custom DLCs, you should look at previous championship weeks and try out what ever songs we have had in the beginner category. Naturally some are easier than the others, depending on the style of the song and so on. Rhythm tracks are usually easier, as they tend to be power chord strumming throughout the song. Strumming itself is a very important thing to learn, just having a relaxed and steady strumming going on. The single note riffs and solos can then be practiced in riff repeater, but be patient, it takes time to build up the speed.

My advice is to start the contest on bass using the emulated bass.  It will get you used to hitting the notes with the display and you will find some of the fingering pattern on bass are the bones of the riffs in the rhythm and lead parts.  It builds muscle memory when shifting around the fret board.  

 

I try to play each song in my class every day.  I find song that I can barely keep up with at the end of the week are playable at the end of the week.  I think doing this has accelerated my growth as a guitar player because I have to work through tough parts that I would gloss over otherwise.  I try to get to the point where I can pass each song on my class in Score Attack by the end of the week, so I riff repeat the parts I get strikes on until I can pass them.

 

That's just my two cents worth, everyone learns differently.  In any case, good luck on your guitar journey!  Hope to see your progress in the competition!

Greetings. Due to time constraints I could not be the worthy opponent @@meelo deserved for his 100% challenge. Though I tried it a couple of more times 100% wouldn't happen.

 

This week's Maiden song is also a hard nut to crack for me. Photo story time.

 

Starting of with a humble score, I could have sworn the cheery Rocksmith speaker said "I've seen worse".

 

Rhythm, not much better.

 

OK, time is short, let's concentrate on Lead, after 5 replays and some riff repeater I finally hit the 90.

 

Yeah, on to SA.... solo fail.

 

Perhaps that was a bit premature, so back to RR and 5 more full replays. Weak points are still the slides and the solo.

 

My head knows the notes of the solo by now, my fingers still struggle, but SA crosses me less and lets me play until the end.
