Artist name sort for "&" character

The use of shorthand in ODLC sortable fields is inconsistent at best.  As you pointed out Bob Marley & the Wailers uses the shorthand '&' as a substitue for the  'and'.  Here is the same artist formally shown with just 'and' and no shorthand.  In another example, ODLC for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers also uses no shorthand substitution.

Be aware that CFSM does not alter the sortable fields of ODLC.   It shows them as they were entered by the author.

For consistency of authoring and sorting, the toolkit does not permit the use of shorthand '&' as a substitute for 'and' in sortable fields.  This ensures that no matter who authors CDLC of Bob Marley (&) or (and) the Wailers, that the sortable field will always be 'Bob marley and the wailers'.  I know this is inconsistent with the ODLC for this artist, but in this instance it is the best that can be reasonably done.

Thanks for the response, I understand.  If I thought it would do any good, I would give the folks at RS some feedback and ask for a bit more consistency.
