To my greatest shame, I'm starting having fun playing it...

I agree with the first statement. I am not ashamed to admit that I just can't listen to this kind of music, let alone focus on playing it. The word blue is just over used!.

For me, like you just said, DD off and slow down as much as you need, what more

set admissible error level  to 0, and velocity increase to 4 (or less on very fast parts)

do this on all individual sections untill reaching max speed,

then repeat on blocs of sections to work chaining and anticipation.

 

Finally when you're ready, go for score attack on difficult !

That's exactly how you do it! Welcome to the Championship!  :)

 

In terms of practice, I try to "solve" riffs. Often, my instinctive way to play a riff during a sightread uses at least a little bit of unnecessary movement, or non-ideal finger placement. After ruminating on parts played slower, I can usually find "the solution", in terms of energy efficiency.

Sometimes, if I'm lucky, I can 100% that main riff at 95% tempo. A few times in a row, even!

 

Can I find another 8.5% by practicing those slidey bits and the solo? Still got 2 days, I like my chances!

Big improvement in listenability on this play, even though score doesn't show it! Starting to get comfortable on these riffs at full speed, but still pretty clueless during solo.   :blink:

@@Rodman What Boston hardcore did you create CS for?  I grew up in the early 80s Boston Hardcore (and metal - it's a long story) scene.

 

Well i fear it´s too newschool then: Blood for Blood - White Trash Anthem (2002) Killer track on my regular playlist and easy to play as we needed some easier songs in the Selection List.

Not a bass player, but my guess is that he's muting top strings when he's not playing them. Speaking about guitar, I'd say that keeping thumb behind neck policy is more for classical then for electro. Look at the lead guitarist there for example - he's doing the same thing so he can strum string instead of picking single notes even on intro.

Well thank you Mr @@Rodman you have really mastered that tune, and you have really given me a kicking this week (and last) however you have pushed me further that I thought I could manage.

I have played the Pretty Maids song over 30 times now (without any restarts I might add) with most of the plays over 99% and i spent all night tonight not only trying to beat you but trying to beat myself, and i came bloody close.......

 

 

Now go and kick some Advanced Lead Arse and leave me alone hahahahah

I would never listen to most of the songs in the championship but...... they really grow on you and when you are at work and all that is going on in your brain is the current weeks song, then you know you just have to say F*** the overtime, F*** the latest project just get home on those bloody guitars and play that song you have never heard of but is locked in your head and needs to be let out via the guitar.......... blah blah blah

Good song btw, some solo parts are somewhat approximative...

and a bit disappointed by the 4 strings arrangement (probably because I play on a 6 strings bass...)
