last week at 17. may a great musician passed away, Chris Cornell, songwriter, singer and guitarero of Soundgarden and Audioslave. High time to catch up on playing one of his great songs as tribute. I chose a great and really fun to play song of Audioslave.

Yo @@fripponomic awesome week. So many great songs.

In fact I think i would need 3 weeks to serve them right.

 

Really like Queen, gonna see them live in Dublin this November, let's see whats left there on stage.

 

From the great losses we had the last 2 years Chris hit me hardest. Always loved Audioslave and Soundgarden and am glad to have had the honor of seeing him perform live 2005. Rip.

I'd say they are very similar difficulty @Iduperval.  Champions requires fluid movement up and down the entire neck along with big jumps, lots of variation and a few twiddly licks thrown in, but it's slow enough to nail those trickier bits.  IMO a definite 6.

 

Dazed and Confused is one of the easier Zep tracks (it's certainly no Lemon Song), it's just that goddam $*£K**!&$ 2 minute long (or however long it is) riff that gets repeated over and over that makes it hard.  It's not a difficult riff, it's just a box, it's just SO long it's a massive test of endurance to nail it for the duration.  Question is, is endurance factored into difficulty rating or just technical skill?  I've not finished it yet.  Maybe by the end of the week I'll build up some stamina (or rsi, one or the other).  Yes, it's harder than Champions to me right now, BUT I can't say it's a 7 when I compare it to say Spirit of Radio which is wayyy more technical.

Well, the whole difficulty of the song is that 40 (80?) bar section, and I would factor it in the difficulty level. Because without that, the song is very easy. But I figure if I get 100% on Champions, and systematically get three strikes on Dazed, then the difficulty level is not the same.

 

Doesn't mean I won't try again when I get the chance!

Fair point.  I can't even physically make it through that section, I had to quit out! :lol:  I don't have high hopes of increasing my stamina much over the course of one week either, but then I felt that way about Muse's "Uprising" too and managed ok by the end of that week.  I just find it difficult to consider it a 7, when to me that riff is really not hard, it's just repetitive, which causes fatigue/cramp induced errors.  It's a tricky one...on the one hand I feel like with a lot of practice that section would be a very achievable, but you can't practice it a lot because it's so damn painful to play! :lol:

Let's point out the hard and fast line in Dazed, if you play it as charted it's just too hard. When I tested it, I played just a few bars there and thought that's bullshit, why do they always make things so complicated, paused the song there, looked at the notes and continued in another position with open strings. That's the reason of my score. It's still fast but it doesn't hurt that much. If wanted I can figure it out again this evening. Then it's similar difficulty level as WATC in a different way, maybe a bit easier, hard to say.

Dazed and confused on bass is pretty easy like the hardest part is that when i begin to think of what im doing il miss a not or two. And personally think its prefer the two minute riff as it is now and its not a big stretch but its not harder to play i think but its a lot harder to get 100% on dazed than champions.

 

 

( 99,78) So here is my first attempt on MC  (it was my choice so i have played it before) Its pretty sloppy and i just made it for fun. I really like Deackon but im not really a queen fan. I love Queen II but i got really disappointed when tried to listen to some of their other albums.

I tried the alternate D&C positioning in riff repeater with opens...WAY less strain, much easier!  Shame I apparently still rely too much on what I see and completely blanked when it reached that part in score attack! :lol:  A work in progress to say the least! :D
