Rocksmith 2014 Championship Week 181

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering, what about choosing totally different songs for bass?  It might make it easier to fit the difficulty to each class instead of sometimes ending up with similar difficulties across the board.

It was said before, but we do have a bunch of new participants so... not a chance. It basically means having another, separate Championship, and we don't have time to spare.

Everyone is free to try and organize something like that, but I'll be honest, it's not that easy to keep up running ;)

Judging by the number of bass players that like this post, there seems to be an appetite for some bass only tracks.  The GoG is a relatively recent change, so how about something like Ace of Bace Ace of Base Ass of Bass Lowest of the Low a similar concept judging the ability to lay down a solid groove rather than self indulgent guitarbation virtuosity.

Rhythm:
Black Me Out: 90.86% 91.52%

Lead:
Bored to Death: 94.33%

Black Me Out: 84% 91.22%

I'm having some issues with Black Me Out. It seems to not register randomly. I'll get the strums around the miss, and I'm just holding the rhythm. I guess I need new strings or to check intonation.

So as other MC players have surely noticed, this chart isn't exactly perfect. Mutes aren't in the custom for some reason, and a couple of other techniques are also omitted. But it's close enough that it's good fun anyway. :D

Had to restart this one a couple times before my brain would digest all these weird grooves and time signatures.

I love King Crimson, but I'm not big on this track. Really weird jam - much grittier sound than other stuff they've put out.

So, my first Rythm Scores for the week. Spend a considerable amount of time in RR and got close to the 90... I'll be pushing to more days. After that i'm out for a wedding.http://i63.tinypic.com/10z8unn.jpg

btw: How do you practice with RR? Full difficulty and working up to tempo or Full tempo and going through the difficulties??

@@domsch1988 Full difficulty and speeding up. That would be the best. Key is to learn the transition from one fret to another (same with strings). It would be impossible to learn sweeping parts with DD (unless handmade, and made well, I never trusted DDC).

I used DD when I was new to guitar and too many notes were too much to handle.

@@domsch1988 I agree with Mortalo. Generally you're trying to establish muscle memory, and the best thing you can do for that is do all the same motions at a speed that you can produce them reliably, then speed up as you get the hang of it.

That said!  If I'm playing through a song and a part comes up with so many notes that my brain can't hold them all, I will "level down" the difficulty in my head - that is, I will pick out a handful of the important notes and be sure to play them correctly. This method is a really helpful for learning sweeping, tapping, or weird chords.

I'd just like to add Scott Devine (yeah, bass, I know) suggests you play one note, then two, at full speed, then three... then four, then five, add one, repeat, repeat.  You get the picture.  So you play at full speed from the start, but only as many notes as you can handle, repeating, all the time.  It's got me through some lines when just speeding up on full difficulty on RR wasn't working.

a great KC song

the chords are extremely hard to register on bass

http://up.picr.de/28866150iw.jpg

on guitar the sync feels a bit strange sometimes

http://up.picr.de/28866151ge.jpg

but a nice mix of 5/8 and 4/4

edit - difficult rating for that is guitar 6, bass (real) 7-8, bass emu 5 :P

I've played this yesterday to adjust my audio settings (I know it's not the class I should play) - I had the latency value set to 5 and reduced it to the default(?) of 3. I'm not sure if the sync of this song has some flaws or if it's me - with the setting of 5 it seemed that I was always a bit late. I know that audio settings are individual settings depending on the hardware, guitar/bass - which value have other mac users?

So that's why you don't post your scores earlier, then?  Fear of being beaten?

Anyway, this evening I have mostly been playing Eagles.

Obviously, @@steroma, that wasn't aimed at you.  Oh, hang on... nipple clamps - with your avatar, might have been?  lol
