6 String Bass

Alternity

Question

I was wondering, is it possible to make a bonus guitar arrangement with a custom tuning to make support for a 6 string bass? There's a song that I want to do which was written for that, while I could probably arrange the tab for 4 strings (which I will probably do, for those who doesn't own a 6 string bass) I would like to support 6 string bass for those who do own it.

There's a few question on that subject.

1- Are pop/slap supported on a guitar track? (There's also a song that I had in mind, that had actual pop/slap on guitar, apparently it can be done)

2- How would I do this custom tuning, what frequency should I look for?

3- How would I go testing this with a regular 6 string guitar? (On another note, if you own a 6 string bass and want to help me test this, I'll be more than happy!)

Feedback is always appreciated! :)

@@Alternity - See this post, the part highlighted True 5- or 6-string bass parts:. Basically, just treat it as a guitar arrangement, and in the toolkit you just have to change the tuning frequency to 220 Hz and mark it as a bonus arrangement. I've probably made over 100 tracks with 5- or 6-string bass parts, so I can assure you that it works. The section after that also has some tips for making 4-string arrangements from parts that were intended for extended range instruments.

As for testing, I don't think that there's much you can do with a guitar, unless maybe you have both an extended range guitar and a drop pedal. I'd be happy to test songs for you, and I know there are some other bass players with extended range instruments who might as well (@@Zoopador and @@theoogy70 are the ones that most readily come to mind for me, though there are obviously more who I haven't interacted with as much. And plenty more 5-string players).

Ah, Unexpect. The dude (ChaoTH or something) I think actually plays a 9-string or something . Not sure how well their stuff will work on a 4-string arrangement, but if you're able to work something out, cool!
