Got grip?

datguy.dev

Question

Greetings,

My first post around these parts. So I believe I should first thank the creators and hosts for which the platform exists. Saved myself heaps and discovered content I wouldn't have otherwise so I'm forever appreciative.

But I came here to ask if anyone has had the need to better the grip of their picks? I'm kinda' weird, so I get sweaty fingers. I think it is a pressure thing, but I was curious of your solutions or maybe you found the right pick. I've seen some Jazz style and Dava picks that look to have great grip. Though, I have been tinkering with different mods for picks to prevent the slippage. The best one I came up with is two hole + thread. I haven't had a hint of a slip since. I have some Dunlop Tortex 1mm and 0.60mm in the mail and I'm eager to apply this mod to.

     Best regards,

                       dev

I switch between John Petrucci's pick and the Jazz III's, and JP's pick tends to be a little slippery, but I solve that by having a towel and wiping my fingers off every once in a while to keep them dry. My pick does slip a lot though, and I think holding it a little looser helps a bit too, but that's all my opinion, it's what works for me.

I use cheapie picks from my local music shop, Homedepot or Lowes sell no slip strips which are essentially sandpaper with a sticky side, I cut em to pick size and stick em on both sides of the pick where skin would contact them but not strings, I have less pick slippage and dropping since doing this.

I can post some images in a coupla hours when I get home.

try   V Pick    or   Gravity   .    plenty  of  styles  and thickness   to  choose  from  .    I   get  pressure  perspiration  also   when  recording  videos  .      these   are  made  of   an  acryllic   that  will  grip  your  skin   once it warms up   .    they  also   have  nice   attack  and   tone.

they are more  expensive  ..  last longer  .    I  use   a  standard  metal  file  to  re-profile  the edges  when it wears  down .  6  picks  per  year and I play  3+  hours per day.

Thanks for the suggestions. I've worked with acrylic before and I could see how they could be a good choice for players like us. I'll try them out. Unfortunately, slippage is my least concern now. I sprained and cut my finger deep at the same time. Perfect timing.
