Win10 - Defender - artistfolders.exe

Recommended Posts

Windows 10 Defender(1.215.1327.0)

Finds a Trojan and deletes the file:

rstoolkit-2.6.1.0-a35caf40-win\artistfolders.exe

Trojan:Win32/Codinx.B!plock

That's a false positive. It's not a virus.

You'll probably want to exclude or "whitelist" the folder that contains the Toolkit in order for it to work properly. You may even need to download it again, if you're not able to recover the file that it deleted.

It is very strange that WD is blocking artistfolder.exe.   This CLI has no crypto functions, and does not read or write archives.  All it does is move files by Artist Name to subfolders.  Very simple file functions.  You can look at the code here.  Please let me know if you think you know why WD is singling out this file.  Maybe WD does not like any file movements.  Don't know.  In any case add the toolkit to WD's trusted list so that it doesn't go deleting toolkit files.
