In Flames - Everlost (Part I)

That's not that hard?

Alice Cooper - Poison

Some great classic rock for you. Killer song to end the year.

Megadeth - Good Mourning/Black Friday

I heard that some bass ladies like some Megadeth :)

Rush - Working Man

As we've got new version, let's give it a go!

And Night Fever! We end the year with some true disco!

It took some long because of Gravity and Pitch Black. Christmas and family afternoon with cake and candy

Not a tune i'd go out of my way to listen to but surprisingly fun to play.

I'll be giving Alice a nudge too this week. I can remember playing air guitar to this back in the day when i was a youngster!

I had a very nice Christmas this year. The missus did well. http://www.schecterguitars.com/international/images/stories/virtuemart/product/omen-extreme-bch-2012-downshot-highres-copy.jpg

The challenge is real! My hand hurts like I just started. The muscles used are different than the bass it appears. got the claw hand going.

Some MC stuff. None of these are sight reads - I think my sight reads on Megadeth were ~84% and 86%, and for Working Man something in the 97% range.

Lead:

Rhythm:

http://i.imgur.com/CdEYz5j.jpg
I don't really see the argument for this being harder than the lead. The arpeggios are tricky at full speed, and the palm muted riff shortly afterward is pretty challenging too, but I don't see those elevating this to a 10, much less making it harder than lead. While lead doesn't have those two sections, it has two riffs later that are more challenging than the rhythm equivalent. And while the solos don't have much bending or weird, challenging techniques, they're still fast as hell and hard to hit many of the notes. I'd probably rate rhythm a 9 and lead a 9.5.

Also, my fretting hand does not like that trill riff. Gets tired out really quickly by it.

Edit: Also, shouldn't we have played this about a month ago?

Bass:

Fun to play. Will be nice to see what I can eke out with riff repeater. I think some of those really fast fills under the solo will be targets.

@@genobadass - Great present! Chords are definitely a very different beast than what you're used to on bass. Bends on the little strings can also mess up your fingertips a bit. Have fun learning how to play!

That damn last chord gave 3 misses both time i played lead today.  In case anyone else misses it its a Open E chord with a muted g string slowly strummed from the high e. (bottom one)

@Mortalo I dont know why i gave it a 6 rating before. I think you are right with the 4 now.

@@MaZtoR On Everlost the most misses I had was 2 (on either lead or rhythm). I will push and get 100% on it. It's just the right tempo for me.

Thanks @@NoonyDeloony, I had a great birthday!  In some ways not a great time of year to have a birthday, but on the flip side, I've never had to work on my birthday, and I pretty much always get to spend it relaxing and having fun with the family :)

Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone, It looks like I'm in good company with the day.  Listening to Buffalo Riot on Soundcloud right now!

I had a crack at the intermediate lead and am struggling.  First score is here, but I'm struggling with the speed in certain areas, and also the note recognition at the standard D tuning.

Intermediate Lead 79%
