Finally cracked into this one. Made sure to listen to it first so I knew exactly what I was getting into. Absolutely killer tune, really fun to play! :D  Was surprised at how decently I managed to keep my balance for all seven minutes of these rather speedy and complex riffs.

MC rhythm update:

http://i.imgur.com/pccTu4m.jpgNot a bad run, but I should be able to do better. Strike was from under the solo when shifting to the yellow string, as somehow my picking hand got lost and took a few measures to recover !

Feel like with more practice and if everything were to go smoothly I could get to 95% on this, but that's probably a bit optimistic given that I haven't yet solved detection on the drop power chords (though I think I'm doing a little better on them). None of the riffs on rhythm are ridiculously hard, but pretty much none of them (except like, the intro) are gimmes for me.

So, parts of this are really hard. The pre-chorus is a bit too fast for me as or right now, playing the harmonies even higher up on the fretboard makes me even more uncomfortable, the chorus riff seems to require more shifting (and gets me confused since I know the chorus in rhythm better). And then there are the solos

I did a re-do of Daft Punk. I'm still quite unwell with this cold and instead of being euphoric from the stuffy head I'm now a miserable snot head so not as lively-a-performance as the last but a tad improved... still not happy with my bent plucky fingers :(

I'll do another couple of go's of Metallica in a bit too.

These scores with the travel bass are as good as, or better than the scores on the full scale bass, so I'll stop complaining about getting use to the sub-short scale.  I do, however, reserve the right to make lame excuses about the mile-high action on the temporary bridge if I ever need to play above the 12th fret.

I did a re-do of Daft Punk. ...

I didn't go back a few days to compare your first Daft Punk video, but my impression is that this one is crisper, with more accurate timing. :plus1:

Another small update to Harvester. Improved the lyrics (sync, sustains, and lines) and added ignore status to the sustain chord at the end of slides. Will try to do a playthrough video tomorrow morning before the week ends.

Anyway, here are my final (at least for this week. I'll try to remember to come back to this one when I'm in a nearby tuning) results on Locust.

Rhythm:

http://i.imgur.com/oMalSbv.jpgPretty good run. A little sloppier than my best on the first half, but I think this was by far my best rhythm run on the second half (though still sloppier than I'd hoped under the solos. Don't get why I have so much trouble with that riff. Also sloppy on the harmony before the solos). Combine this with my best run on the first half (where I was rock solid, then had a disastrous second half) and I think I'd have gotten close to 95%.

Edit: I think @@fiddlesticks's Harvester of Sorrow rhythm score got copied over to Locust rhythm. Though I wouldn't be surprised if he could hit that with practice.

Lead:

http://i.imgur.com/ZwvTYC1.jpgWas able to get up to speed (though still pretty sloppy) on the prechorus riff, and given that accounts for ~400 notes in the song, it made a big difference. During the crazier parts of the solos I pretty much just picked out what notes repeat a lot and when and tried to make sure I hit those. Overall effort probably didn't sound too much like the actual solo.

Here's a stab at my favourite electronic Frenchmen. First try was 75, then I went back with a better idea of how it went and managed this. I could probably do better than this too, but good enough!

I've got a couple +1s on the heavy stuff, this post might be my last for the week. Just not that crazy about the Metallica tune, and I love the masterclass, but I didn't put the time into this song that it needs. I feel like I could maybe even break 90 on it with not all that much effort.

One week closer to Christmas and off to a traditional "Yulebord" (a variant of the Swedish smorgasbord - this will be an evening of herring and schnapps) with a lot of friends - tuxedo is on!

The bass challenge this week was probably a bit on the low side. I was quite impressed how good my trusty Yamaha-bass still produced a, for Rocksmith, recognisable sound. I find it hard to play on such low tuning - it is like playing on rubber bands and I can't quite hear myself over the soundtrack.

Here's the score

Bass MC - 97.41%

23585858082_024908a588.jpg

For guitar, this is a fascinating tune. Very soft and a bit odd. Some parts were a bit weird - I didn't really hear the line that I was playing (which makes it harder to play).

Someday I will learn how to contribute to this community, either by suggestion changes or create my own CDLC. I only have to solve how I can do it on a Mac - virtual machine, mono or vine might help me.

Anyhow - here's my score.

Lead IM - 96.06%

Problems with Rocksmith registering? Don't bother - remember the wise words of Yngwie Malmsteen:

I think on the last version I uploaded (with the ignores), they don't factor into your accuracy %, but they do factor into the song mastery %, so I think @@Rodman's score is still valid. Didn't like that though, so I reverted to doing it without the ignores.

Anyway, a somewhat crappy playthrough vid will be incoming. Not as good at playing while standing up, and I'm not really sure how to make things work with me on video while sitting down.

Edit: Video!

Regarding difficulty scores, here's roughly how I would rate the guitar parts:

Harvester Rhythm: 7 the "signature riffs" are definitely tricky to get at full speed, and the harmony section also isn't easy, but otherwise it's pretty easy and those tricky parts seem to me more an issue of practicing the riffs carefully rather than needing to acquire new skills.

Harvester Lead: 8 Solo isn't terrible, but you'll probably miss some notes among the bends and slides. The harmony section is a bit harder than on rhythm because of extra string skipping.

Locust Rhythm: 9 or 9.5 Consistently challenging, whether because of the picking hand speed and accuracy or fretting hand mobility required, but none of the individual challenges are worthy of a 10, and together they fall a bit shy.

Locust Lead: 10 Most of the challenges of the rhythm path, with a significantly more technical prechorus, a harder chorus, a harder harmony section, and some ridiculous solos.

Few bits and pieces to round out a week that's featured less playing time than I'd have liked.

Still, I got up this morning and there was a beautiful layer of snow on the ground, spent the day decorating the house - fair to say it's definitely beginning to look a lot like christmas around here :)

Won't be able to do MC bass this week because of the low tuning, so I'm going back to last weeks song that I didn't get a chance to play.
