Question

Posted

I've been playing Rocksmith 2014 fine for a year and had no problems until today. I was playing through my laptop but didn't notice it wasn't on charge and whilst playing the battery level went to 0 and so my laptop powered itself off whilst I was in the middle of a song.

I rebooted the laptop and started Rocksmith again but 95% of the time it crashes somewhere between the press Enter welcome screen and the 'Learn a song, session mode... etc' menu.

It crashes with 'Rocksmith2014.exe has stopped working' message.

Any ideas?

I dunno, is there some sort of cache I can clear or something that wasn't able to resolve itself when my laptop unexpectedly shut itself down?

Thanks for any help.

Did you tried verifying the "integrity of the game file" option via steam (right click on the name of the game and you should see it).

It might be worth the try if it's just a corrupted game file.

Thanks for the reply.

I did verify the integrity and it found 14 items to repair which did fix this crashing problem. But also overwritten my DLC and deleted my profile (its OK I have it backed up). Another problem though is I now have missing graphics

I think I should reinstall. I have bought the game but my CD drive is broke and won't read the CD (lol) is there a way to reinstall through Steam?

Yeah steam can do the installation (you might need to redownload the game though). you'll just have to delete the local file and then reinstall by using steam interface. of course you'll have to re-add the dll to play cdlc again (and save your cdlc somewhere else if you have quite the number so that you won't have to re-download them)

OK got everything working again without reinstalling.

Verifying the integrity through steam fixed the crashing problem, but did delete my profile and my DLC but I had a backup so got it all back.

And deleting the rocksmith.ini file fixed the grahpics problem. A new .ini file is created when you open Rocksmith.
