Didn't do as well as the play above, but I did pass it on score attack. My strike came just at the end of the double stop riff section. I feel like I came real close to passing it without any strikes. I'll try again later I'm sure.

for this song I used the bass tone from Zebra - John Butler Trio cdlc. Sounds great like an upright.

It's been a crazy busy last few days.  I carved out an hour for nonstop play on bass and My Baby Just Cares For Me came up half way through - 98.5%

Guitar stuff. Love That's Gone updates first.

Lead:

Still make a bunch of silly mistakes on these, but at this point I feel pretty comfortable with pretty much all of the chords. Still get confused with the double stops in the beginning of the solo, though. A lot of times Rocksmith recognizes the (higher) E chord but not the D with the same handshape, and I'm not entirely sure why. It also seems to have trouble recognizing the (highest) E chord that's played based around the 12th fret. If I get those issues sorted out I should be able to take the lead up a few percent more.

After some practice getting better at all the power chord shifting, some Offspring results.

Lead is the same as rhythm except the little single note riff in the postchorus/outro is up an octave, which I found makes it a bit more awkward to get to from the preceding powerchord. So obviously I can improve on the rhythm stuff. On lead I still had a few stupid mistakes in the intro/pre-verse riff later in the song, so between improving on that and practicing the outro riff (and probably practicing the chorus a bit more) I should be able to pick up another percent or two.

Crazy rhythms? I'm a drummer, I'm all over this! :D

My first run I did 73. Was like, "no way, I can definitely do this better" and RRed the hook for at 85% a few minutes. Then this came out. Slowing fast syncopated rhythms down really helps in learning them.

I learned the slides halfway through this run too, definitely can do mid 90s on this.

Not quite as good percentage wise as what is posted, but I passed it on hard mode with a gold star and 0 strikes. Kind of happy about that. :)

Previously promised 80% Mr. Crowley score!

Hey @@albatross213 , how far into Tales are you? I just got to the wind shrine and for the first time in the game I'm starting to struggle with the combat. I turned it to Hard mode so probably I need to just take a break from the main quest and grind for a while.

I spent some more time on My Baby Just Cares For Me and got up over 99%.  This tune is just so chillin' - perfect for unwinding after a long day.

Moving on to Pretty Fly (For A White Guy) on bass... Between Monday and Today, I've spent about an hour in RR.  I'm not quite up to speed yet, but I can fake my way to a 97%.  This song seems to be very forgiving of misses.

Made good progress on both and in score attack no less. Hopefully this will help me learn a few things I don't work on and force me to work on them. I'm glad I joined you guys in the championship. Thank you for having me.

Happy birthday @@lostpapers! Wherever you are :)

Gee! Thanks man! I'm not far from here, wishing to make those strings ring again on the Championship CDLCs. I'm just so overwhelmed by my other activities that my head spins.

I really hope I'll come back into the championship soon!

Keep up the good work, players ;)

Hi everyone, I  played at Smithy's Anvil for some months, then RS2014 came out and I had been here only to download cdlc. So here are my first attempts in both guitars. Glad to be back!

The speed was no problem today. But the endurance was.  I get tired in the end end start missing notes.  Also those sliding octaves always misses for me.

Yeah, I might have a go at cleaning up the guitar part a bit tonight. The octave chord slides aren't that complicated (slide down to 3, then up to where the next chord is [either 5 or 8]), but the unpitched slides throughout that section (er, maybe the entire song?) all 1 fret while they should be more and I'm not convinced about the timing of all of the slides. Anyway, it's way harder to read than it should be, and even though I now get that section I still get tons of misses on it.

@@missis sumner - Bob Daisley, Ozzy's bassist for most of his albums through No More Tears, plays with a pick.

@@Gamut - I haven't devoted too much time to Tales recently, so I just did some sidequests, cleared the Earth Trial, and now I'm back near the start area and presumably about to start the Water Trial (I've heard the puzzle design of this dungeon is a pain in the ass). Anyway, a few suggestions, though I'm sure most of them won't be anything new

-Things open up a bunch after the Cardinal, so perhaps you're trying one of the harder trials earlier than you should? I don't know which ones you've done, but if you haven't done Earth I'd suggest that, as it was quite easy. Also some pretty nice enemies nearby for grinding Exp.

-How many of the special monsters have you killed? They tend to give pretty good Exp (even ones that you might have skipped a while back), and also give the orbs that boost HP. Not as handy as other stat boosts, but still useful.

-How much have you been optimizing your party for each dungeon (or even each battle?). It's kind of a pain, but elemental resistances can be important. Some spells are more useful in some contexts than others, and others aren't all that useful once you have better ones (and so some should be disabled). Also, different party behaviors make sense for different battles, and so on. There's a lot of stuff that you can do here, but given that you're playing at a higher difficulty and can see the main component of the enemy group before each battle, you're signing on for at least some of this stuff.

-How much have you leveled up your equipment?

Hopefully that gives a starting point for how to continue. I don't worry about min-maxing games or anything like that, so there's probably plenty of other stuff to be exploited.

Also, with regards to Pretty Fly, I thought I'd be able to improve a lot, too, but I've found it tough going. I've gotten better at the outro riff, but I don't think I'll get to the point where I can say I've pretty much mastered the chord shifting (which would almost surely mean a 99% or higher).

Welcome back @@Tango :) I was on Anvil only for cdlc, thankfully I'd improved and could participate here, and then, well, take over

Intermediate Lead - 83%, 36 streak

I'll try tomorrow too, but I don't know.

Pretty Fly Lead - 97.31%, 124 streak

Before I couldn't pass it in Score Attack, though I still getting lost, playing wrong chords. but I'm getting better. I played it many after Championship, but playing it in competition made me focus much more, and improve a lot.
