I wanted to learn guitar for ages, but had some of "those" mates in high school, that are just absolute musical maestros. They could pick up any instrument and given 5 minutes, be taking requests (flute, violin, guitar, saxophone - I'm not kidding). That was rather demoralising in school, so I stuck to piano then.

Fast forward to my 32nd birthday. I now work from home and have adequate free time for learning the guitar. WIfey saw me checking out some Rocksmith videos on YouTube, asked why I never learnt to play a guitar - 5 minute conversation which results in her saying, "Well, I know what your birthday present is this year".

It's totally stock currently.

I also have a locally made nylon string acoustic that I was given by a friend that was leaving the country - but it's nasty to play (it sells new for the equivalent of $45).

Since getting a guitar and starting to play Rocksmith - I decided to buy my Dad a guitar for his birthday and Rocksmith, he's since bought 4 more guitars since he "hates re-tuning" (excuse given to my Mum...... I know what he's really like).

My guitar wishlist......

Ovation Elite 2078 TX

Chapman ML-2 Classic

This Steampunk 3d printed guitar http://www.3ders.org/articles/20131003-olaf-diegel-spectacular-steampunk-3d-printed-guitar.html

(and if I'm honest, most of the other 3d printed guitars from that guy)

@PC Plum

LOL. That's almost a sport in Scotland after the Hibees recent run... :wink:

I've been here in Edinburgh for 15 years now and have been to a few Hearts games in the last few years. They did well, despite the penalty points. I wouldn't consider myself a 'Hearts fan', but it would be my team of choice if I hadn't been supporting MUFC since I was about 9..  :)

@smirocsmo

Aye, it's a good 'un. There are pages and pages of instruction on how to make a horse noise with your guitar.

I can do Dog, Cat, Sheep, Pig etc and the whole vocal and instruments from Old McDonald.. Yes, I am that freaking good...  :wink:

I'm a noobie and so my stuff is quite basic.

On the left is my Rocksmith 2014 bundled Epiphone Les Paul Jr.

On the right is the Bass I brought around 5 weeks ago so I could start learning bass, it's an Aria IGB-35 4 String. not much to say other than I bought it because I liked the contoured shape and colour.

I also got myself a small practice amp to mess with.. again nothing fancy...

I play one of these, or I would if it weren't in the shop for repairs.

I'm so unlearned in the ways of guitars that I don't even know what to call it when people ask what kind of guitar I have other than that it's a Yamaha and that it's red.

Update to my collection:

Got rid of the MIM Strat, took the electronics out (Fat 50's in the neck and middle, DiMarzio Superdistortion in the bridge) and put them in a 2014 American Standard Strat; the LP is a 2012 Studio, and my newest, a 2014 Gibson SGJ.  I LOVE the SGJ.  It is just about the easiest playing guitar I've ever had.  The amp back there is a Fender Mustang v2.

And my two acoustics, a Taylor 110e and a Washburn EA9F (about 15 years old...just a great guitar).
