Rocksmith 2014 Championship Week 92

I played through the intermediate, advanced, and MC songs on bass. Things seemed pretty good sync wise on all of them, though I may want to check some spots on advanced and MC a little more closely. 

 

Download the Revolution it took me a few measures to really get into the feel of the song (I had meant to play it sooner after release, but forgot about it for a while), but was pretty fun to play. Everything seemed right on point.

 

Blind Guardian can tire my fingers out  :D. One part in the chorus near the end seemed weird sync-wise, but it might have just been that I lost the rhythm somewhere in the solo. Tab seemed good as far as rhythm and stuff goes. Pretty much all of the stuff outside of the repeated notes seemed good too, but I'd have to check closer to give a definitive score for the tab. Would also need to check closer for the tone, but this is probably one of those songs where it's hard to judge beyond "sounds like metal bass." Difficulty wise, 5 seems about right.There are enough difficult riffs to make it harder than Download the Revolution but it's also definitely way too easy to be a true advanced song.

 

Call of Ktulu also seemed good for the most part. The combination of tab/tones for the wah part is probably hard to do perfectly, but seemed pretty good from what I could tell from my playthrough. The rest was obviously great, as you'd guess from @@bernixix and from anything off of Ride the Lightning.

 

When playing through I didn't realize that one section at the end of the hard part was all bends and wondered why I piled up so many misses. Consequently, I'm not posting my score. I think there's more than enough to the bass part to make the difficulty at least a 9, though.

 

I'll try to give more concrete scores to everything tomorrow afternoon/evening. In the meantime, happy playing!

Fun Fact: Did you know, that in the original vinyl version of this song, you could not hear the bass solo from cliff at all, because the EQ was turned to turn the bass down.

R.I.P my hands...I played this without a pick, and got rekt. Seriously I know I'm big on playing like the original artist, but this was rough. The bends, the chords, this will screw up your day. I might play this with a pick in the future, plz dont be too mad, Jason did it on S+M.

Down strummed every single one of those notes and didnt even sweat. Seriously my right arm is doing great :D :D :D

After playing both lead and rhythm, theres some missing notes that I think lead is missing. most particularly near the end.

Also I miss that harmony from the S+M version where Kirk takes the melody near the end up an octave, I keep waiting for it to happen here and it doesn't. I'll post screenshots tomorrow of what I think is missing. one is a harmony problem and the other is just missing notes to create the atmostphere.

 

8.5 Lead 9 Rhythm 9 Bass for difficulty. I know that solo seems like a beast and the bends on the 20 are murder, but there are no weird hand shapes except near the end of the solo which isnt that bad once you know them Easy MC or hard Advanced, so I won't complain too much about a light week for us(I'm afraid of @@Mortalo firing the Lazer Cannon on us now D: )

Fun Fact: did you know, that Dave Mustaine wrote most of this song, but after he left Metallica, they changed how the chords were played. Dave Mustaine's original version then turned to become Hangar 18.

Good that Mustaine left Metallica. I know that Motive will agree (for opposite reasons) :D

 

Fun Fact: Did you know, that despite being referenced to the creature cthulu, Metallica not only misspells the creature name, but also pronounces it as Ka-too-loo instead of Ka-thoo-loo

 

Hetfield later said that he regrets changing Cthulhu to Ktulu.

Updated Ka-too-loooo to version 2.1 (N-DD 2.1 version)  :lol: based on your first impressions. Changes from 2.0:

• Bass --> Added a few missing notes that were considered ghost by eof. Improved slides and sustains: 20th bends should be more recognizable!
• Lead --> Added missing notes at the pre-solo. Added some slides and improved few sustains.
• General --> Turned up slightly lead & rythm tone volumes.

 

Since I might be updating this song more often, not going to update tholo's thread until it gets its final version. So be wary of my test updates in this thread pl0x!  B)

the story behind the original name is that if you say cthulu, you become closer with him, so they changed it.

 

My happiest reason why Mustaine left is because idk where Nick Menza would be today without megadeth.

the story with the interview about the original I think is on cliffs DVD(that or cunning stunts), and they still called it kah-too-loo in a behind the scenes extra on S+M.
