Question

Hi Folks

In the past four weeks I have had the same message when opening steam.

"Saved file corrupt on server" or something similar.

When I get onto the game all previous scores are gone and I have to listen to the game telling me what to do next.

Anyone have this happen to them and any way to get all the scores back?

Okay downloaded Custom Game Toolkit and found a LocalProfiles.json and another file which goes something like this BCD2877186514C............ etc etc and tried to repair them but the game still goes to the begining.

Am I trying to repair the wrong files?

How can I download the files from Steam that are corrupt?

If I can't and need to start again then I will, but then how do I save the new game save files?

I have a back up of the saved files on my PC but when I open them up I have folders Disc 1 to Disc 11 so how do I use these?

Help very much appreciated

How can I download the files from Steam that are corrupt?
  • In your Steam Library, right click on Rocksmith and select properties.
  • Select the tab "local files"
  • Click "Verfify integrity of game cache"

or... completely uninstall the game and redownload everything.

If I can't and need to start again then I will, but then how do I save the new game save files?
  • I keep a backup of the complete folder "D:\Games\Steam\userdata\********\221680\remote"
  • I use file version history backup(?) (Dateiversionsverlauf in german) function that is integrated in Windows 8 to do a backup of this folder every hour

I have a back up of the saved files on my PC but when I open them up I have folders Disc 1 to Disc 11 so how do I use these?

  • Those Disc# files are most likely a backup you did from within Steam - correct?
  • You have go "Steam" -> "Backup and Restore Games" and select the first file for restoring
  • This is the same thing as downloading the files from the internet  - it just reinstalls the game
  • This has got nothing to do with the progress on your personal game profiles!
  • You cannot do a backup of your profiles with Steam (your profile is infact "backed up" to the Steam Cloud... but that one gets corrupted as soon as your local copy is)

I suggest the only useful thing now is to ask user cozy1 for help, directly in the thread Alex mentioned.

Check out my easy tutorial on how to add a metronome to your CDLC: Mute the original music, play only with the metronome and find out how good you really sound! Also: Find CDLCs that have the metronome enabled!

Want a USB-Footswitch that you can use to control the tone selection and all the menus in Rocksmith? Check out Rodman's Tutorial and my additions to that!  Footswitch_Logo.png

My CDLCs: Devin Townsend - Life, Deep Peace, Ih-Ah!, Deadhead; Farin Urlaub - Ok

My ideas for new features in Ignition, e.g. filters for Multitrack CDLC and Metronome CDLC.

No.

As I said before, the "Backup and Restore Games" function of Steam only saves the files you did download from the internet for installing a game. It does not contain any of your local profiles, and is only useful for making a clean new install of a game.

When you reinstall a game, Steam will also download your personal profile (scores etc.) from the Steam Cloud. But if your local profile gets corrupted, the cloud version will be instantly synced with the corrupted version.
