  1. Hi there, I'm a bass player that makes playthorugh videos, the thing is that I think that the way to promote your videos here is not good enough, the only way that your video can be viewed is if a user that creates CDLC, post your video as a playthrough in their pages, also you can't post any playthorugh of an official DLC here, so what is the best way to promote the videos?, do you agree with me? Please let me know
  2. Similar to Ultimate Guitar's thread http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1547433
  3. I was enamored of Dunlop nylon .72's and .88's but recently discovered Moshay. I don't think I will ever go back. The Moshay picks are, so far, the best I've tried. I am using the the medium and the thick. Small size. Try them out if you can find them. Very comfortable, sits nice in the hand. Great contact point. And no, I do not work for, or represent them. What's your favorite pick?
  4. Hi everyone, OK so this is my first CDLC ever, and (hopefully) the first in a series of Motown Classics (see my other thread about that here : http://customsforge.com/topic/9534-motown-classics/) Right now I would really appreciate your feedback about it : is the sync ok? Does DD work correctly? Do you feel the tone could be better? (If you do, then please let me know where I can find a tutorial about it, like I said this is the first song I've charted so there are plenty of things I'm not familiar with yet). Enough talking, here are the links : For PC users : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6m_wq3Xxyzrd1FQYjhISG1QZWs/edit?usp=sharing For Xbox users : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6m_wq3XxyzrVjV3akxybVdKeWs/edit?usp=sharing (I still have to figure out how to create files for Mac and PS3 users) Oh and one last thing : I must give huge thanks to @@Chlipouni for his excellent tutorial and careful assistance. I could never have done this without him! His website is http://guitargames.wordpress.com/ and it's a true goldmine!! Thanks !!!
  5. Hey guys, I was wondering what songs or bands would you recommend to try an electro acoustic bass in rocksmith
  6. Hi. I have been making some bass cover videos on YouTube and putting tabs for the song. I play all songs in standart tuning and try to make the bassline close to the original but also interesting and easy to remember/play(since it's so hard and pointless to play all the notes exactly like the bassist did on the recording). Maybe I will do some lessons about bass and musical theory applied to it, if anybody is interested... So this is my YouTube channel: youtube.com/user/MysteriousBassBoy I would also recommend this site for learning bass, as it helped me a lot years ago, now it looks like it's has some paid lessons put I think there's still lots of good stuff for free there. It also has a cool bass tuner and other resources like that. This isn't for money or just personal promotion, I really want some positive criticism over my videos and I think that many people here could learn a little bit with me and teach me some stuff too. Hope this is helpful for somebody...
  7. Hello fellow music gamers, I just wanted to see if anyone else finds that they suffer from hand fatigue really quickly while playing. I notice it a lot when I am playing songs at full speed and especially down tuned songs. Sometimes, it might happen during my first song, other days I can go for a good 2 hours. This doesn't happen when I'm practising scales or doing slower tab playthroughs. I do try to relax my hand, and use less pressure. I've even lowered the action on my bass so that a gentle touch is all that's needed, but sometimes that just doesn't work for me. Any tips from long-time players
  8. I imagine this question's been asked a few times but in the hope of progress.. Has anyone created custom songs for 5 String Bass? Gutted I can't use the low B in game. Songs from artists like Jamiroquai would benefit in a big way! Has anyone managed to trick the game into showing 5 strings on the note highway? I'm sure someone in this talented community has worked something out?!
  9. Hi first forum post over here, after playing bass for almost a year I am having a hard time finding bass parts that are difficult and interesting enough to make me want to play them. So if anyone could link me to technical death, progressive metal or anything that's difficult and interesting that would be great. I am looking specifically for bass guitar. stuff i already have all the Death songs (so amazing) decapitated symmetry of zero (after 2 weeks of practice I am close to being able to play it proficiently.) mastodon (some are boring but there a few fun tracks to play) Opeth (these are a ton of fun to play) porcupine tree born of Osiris (only one interesting song sadly) so if you know of anything like these especialy decapitated and death please tell me, that would be awesome thanks.
  10. someone uploaded their version .. I will not be publishing mine. If someone wants the bassline I have created just message me for a link. If you want to complete it let me know and I'll send you the sources. I find it playable as-is and wil definitely get you going on the song.
  11. Heya all, just wonder if someone is avalible to work on the afore mentioned Quarterflash song, not a tricky one on bass but a good song still. Here is the tube link to a video in which a guy does a cover on bass and also includes a link to a bass tab notation:
  12. Hi, first of all, this is my first post and I might have forgotten to present myself in the right section of the forum, please excuse me about that. For my first Rocksmith 2014 DLC, I wanted to try a special version of Master of Puppets by Metallica, arranged by a very talented bass player, Bruno Masquio (Which I know only from his youtube videos). llPWNYj5O6U I had a few problems with the grid snap, the triplets and the slides in the 6/8 bars, so forgive me if it is not perfect yet. I also tried to put a lead guitar track, for those who want to play the distorted part on guitar (I tried it and it seems to work but it shows under "Rhythm guitar path"). Comments and help are welcome. I especially need advice on which tones to use. 15. I have uploaded already a couple of CDLC's with only lead track. I now wanted to test it on bass, but when I start the song in RS2014 there are no notes. Its just empty. I tried real part bass and real part bass 22 track in EOF but none of them work. I really don't know what i'm dong wrong. Anyone suggestions? Thanks
  16. Yep, as the title says, i just want to correct or adjust some customs, but only the bass part whitout messed up whit the rest of the work of someone else. So, how i do that?. TNX in advance...
  17. Ok, I don't see this topic in either the Gear Garage or the Off-Topic list. I hope this is not a repeat. I have an opportunity to buy a new bass, and am looking for ideas. I know the types I have wanted over the years, but I want some ideas before I spend the $$$. I am looking for either a 5 or 6 string. So, what type and what model would you get if you could buy any bass?

  19. Ok so im looking into getting a new bass guitar Ive been playing about 2 years but only really got serious about learning about a few months back i have a $200 ibanez right now which isnt bad but i figure its about time for a upgrade. my price range is about $500-$700. ive seen a few basses that have peeked my interest like the fender P basses but im just not 100% sure So i thought id ask for some advice and or recommendations anything is really appreciated . Thank.
  20. Hello people, My girlfriend's got a (not Fender) P-bass pretty cheap, and it hadn't got any pickups. So I told her I could try and wire it for her, if she buys some pickups. Her dad then bought pickups without a brand or whatsoever, and after checking wiring diagrams I don't think they can be wired into the bass, but I'm not sure. I've got some pictures of the Pickups: http://i.imgur.com/Zfo33oJ.jpg As you see, the blue wire is the connection of the elements, then there's the yellow wire to connect to the volume control, but all pickups and wire diagrams I've seen have another wire also going to the volume control. My girlfriend's dad says it should work by cutting the wires between the two elements, and wire them via the cavity, but I really don't see how this works.. Can somebody explain how I should do this or why it isn't possible? My girlfriend is dying to start practicing bass. Here is the cavity of the bass: http://i.imgur.com/EzImLCT.jpg Thanks in advance! Helderdje
  21. As you may or may not know, on rocksmith, the bass has trouble with low tunings such as Drop B. There has since been a way to fix it posted here on customsforge but i don't know if i fully understood it. I have tried the fix (as much as i could understand) on one of my CDLC songs that needs Drop B tuning. My guess is that i did something wrong, but i need someone to test it out so please can some of you test out the Bass section in the song. Oh and you have to have a real bass guitar. Thanks! *EDIT* Sorted, thanks to dave.

I teach English to High School-age students here in Thailand, and I like to do a few music listening exercises every year. One of the songs that I taught in my classes was Zombie by the Cranberries (common Karaoke song in Thailand). Then recently, as a treat for the end of the school term I brought in my PC with Rocksmith 2014 and took requests for songs to play along with on my bass. I justified doing that for English class because the students could sing along karaoke-style; and I got a good fun class out of it. However, I had a lot of students ask me to play Zombie since they remembered studying it earlier in the year, and it wasn't available as a custom song. So, I decided to make that my first project to see how well I could figure out the whole custom-making thing. I play bass -- don't have an electric guitar here in Thailand with me -- so I concentrated on doing that chart first. I found a good tab and the bass line is pretty simple so I thought it would be an easy(ish) way to start out. Well, it turned out to be trickier than I imagined. A big part of that is my noob-status I'm sure, but I ran into a few other snags. First, there are quite a few different BPM numbers listed for the song through various sources. That should have been a red flag for me, but I discovered that the song definitely wasn't run through any sort of stabilizing software after being recorded in the studio, so the beat and tempo varies quite a bit with the human drummer / rhythm section. Took me quite a bit of work to sync it all up with all the variation, but I think it is pretty close to being properly in sync now. Second, I had a heck of a time figuring out how to get slides to work and show up properly in the game. The first note in the bass track is a slide from the 12th fret on E down to open, but EOF complains if I try to set the destination fret at 0. So in the meantime, I set it as a slide from 12 to 1. That works for now, but I am sure there is a more elegant/correct way to do that. Third, in my self-testing on early versions I heard a fair bit of dissonance. It made me think that maybe my tab was wrong, but when I play along with my source tab in Guitar Pro it sounds great. Then if I switched from that over to playing along with the recording, and it sounded off. I eventually decided that the studio recording must be in a tuning a bit sharp or flat from standard E, A440. I did some googling and found other people that discovered the same thing, but couldn't find anybody posting what the correct offset should be. So, I fiddled around with my tuner set for a few different offsets to A440, and eventually settled on +5Hz, A445. With that tuning, the dissonance goes away, at least to my non-perfect ear. But anyway, if you have a good ear I'd appreciate thoughts on whether that tuning sounds correct or needs further tweaking. Fourth, I actually got relatively pleased with how the bass part works in-game, and that got me intrigued with putting in lead and rhythm guitar parts too. The tab I use sounds good, but separates the guitar into 3 parts (technically 4 but 2 of those are just for stereo pan). AND, I have been a bass-only guy for so long that my ear for guitar parts is definitely less than stellar. Add in the erratic tempo throughout the song and the long gaps between guitar parts since it is divided up so much, and I have been pretty fully lost in trying to sync up the guitar parts. Also, when I try to get the first notes in sync, it seems to screw up the sync in the bass track that I worked so hard to get set well. Is that because of the opening silence I added? It sure would be nice if I could just fit the imported guitar pro guitar tracks to the beat sync from the bass track, and seems like that it how EOF does/can/should work, but I'm a bit gunshy since my early efforts screwed up the bass track and I had to redo it. And finally, I'd like to add more riff repeated sections/phrases, but that whole system in EOF seems screwy to me. Is there a trick to that process? Minus the guitar tracks and lack of more divided sections/phrases, I think the file linked above works reasonably well. I do think that the tab I used is missing a few strum variations to keep it from being really perfect, but it sounds close to me throughout. And in spite of trying to sync/anchor pretty much every beat to keep up with the erratic tempo, I do notice a few places where I could get it matched better. But anyway, any comments / suggestions / criticism / advice would be welcome. Depending on whether or not I can figure out how to import the guitar parts and get them to use the bass track sync, I may also be happy to get a hand from a more seasoned custom-maker to add on lead and rhythm guitar parts. I can provide my source tab and other files, although maybe it would be just as easy to use the toolkit to unpack that stuff from the psarc file (minus the GP5 tab anyway)? Thanks for any feedback!
  23. Would you mind uploading the PART REAL_BASS_22_RS2.xml file? Even if it's incomplete I can copy/paste or whatever needs to be done. Losing notes sucks, but it's still fun to jam along. Giving you both the F*cked up PART REAL_BASS_22_RS2.xml (ended up in Wrong Tuning and 5-string...) & PART REAL_BASS_RS2.xml This one is almost fine, may need a little copy pasting to finish... I Transposed what i could so it's Setup in CEAD = C1 E1 A1 D2 or in EoF it's -5-5-5-4 (the -4 the low C1(Fattest/RED String) Lowest we can tune to...) http://www.sendspace.com/file/x5kv3i
