  1. Dream Theater, Liquid Tension Experiment, Rush, IQ, Pagan's Mind, Circus Maximus, Yes... Too bad most of this stuff is too hard for me to play! :D (and I also like some less-progressive metal like Megadeth, Metallica, Iron Maiden and Faith No More). That 8tracks radio thing is genius to let people experience songs. I already dig the first song by Atomic Rooster :)
  2. There's no shame in learning is there? :)
  3. Nice to see you guys having fun with 'This was my life'! I have a request to make: if anybody also records videos, could you please make a playthrough when there's not a playthrough on the record page? (As is the case with this song). Some people like to see how the song's played before they download it.
  4. Does this only correct afterwards, or is it also useful when creating CDLC? (instead of manually moving the beat anchors, using Go PlayAlong or generating a beatmap with whatisitsname). Since @@Berneer is talking about ditching Go PlayAlong
  5. Ofcourse there are usecases, but with creating CDLC most often you'd want to change the .gp5 file you're using or the beat markers in EoF, not the notes themselves in EoF :) (Ignore this if you already know that :P)
  6. Haven't tried the custom yet, but this one seems to be having problems with beats (if I understand him correctly): http://customsforge.com/page/customsforge_rs_2014_cdlc.html/_/pc-enabled-rs-2014-cdlc/the-sleep-r10135 .
  7. I've created CDLC of 13 by Megadeth. I'm not a lead player myself (fast solo's scare the hell out of me ;)) so I didn't notice the solo's not being correct in the source, that was pointed out by another user. I've tried correcting it but there's too much not making sense in my mind: no notes when I can hear them, notes when I can't hear them, etc. Correcting a little sync issue and adding a note here and there I can do, but this is a bit too complicated and as such demotivating since there's almost no progress. Therefore, maybe you want to help!! I don't see myself finishing it at the moment. To make it easy to help: you can find all the files I've used (notes.eof, .gp5, etc.) in the following link: https://mega.co.nz/#F!T943XB6T!m7QOuGKxgEgjdbWCgBndBg. Problems lie in measure 112 to 136 as far as I can see in the lead arrangement (Lead RS in .GP5 file, PART REAL_GUITAR_22_RS2 in .EoF). I've been looking for other sources for a tab of the solo but didn't find any. Did find somebody playing it on a video though: https://www.jellynote.com/pt/partituras-tablaturas-versoes/megadeth/13/528e0bb1a6c1996365a5a90c#tabs:%23score_C,video:52d6e6f3c7be8c718a94dee1(3:25 and further). EDIT: I found the tab for sale online (1.39 or so) so I bought it and have almost copied everything to Guitar Pro. I'll upload a new version soon, this is just a note not to dig into it while it's already solved (almost) :)).
  8. I've charted Megadeth - Back in the Day. Feedback is welcome (most notably on solo and tones). I'm not good at tones so I just took one from another song from the same album. Can be found on: https://www.mediafire.com/?xv4o0tororytf2p EDIT: updated version can be found in the CDLC search!
  9. Tried adding leading silence to an mp3 and stream copy didn't work as expected: the song was cut off after the 3000 ms I entered instead of a silence added of that length before the song.
  10. Didn't search the thread (little time) but I got a crash: (1/1) Converting song beneathsurface ... Opening arrangement combo for song id beneathsurface... Opening arrangement vocals2 for song id beneathsurface... Onverwerkte uitzondering: System.InvalidOperationException: Object waarvoor null is toegestaan, moet een waarde hebben. bij System.ThrowHelper.ThrowInvalidOperationException(ExceptionResource resource) bij RocksmithToolkitLib.Xml.Song2014..ctor(Sng sngData, Attributes2014 attr) bij RocksmithToTabLib.PsarcBrowser.GetArrangement(String identifier, String arrangement) bij RocksmithToTab.Program.ExportPsarc(String psarcFile, CmdOptions options) bij RocksmithToTab.Program.Main(String[] args) Link to CDLC: http://customsforge.com/page/customsforge_rs_2014_cdlc.html/_/pc-enabled-rs-2014-cdlc/beneath-the-surface-r838 EDIT: also, the converted .gpx file from Beastie Boys - You Gotta Fight (official song) crashes my Guitar Pro. Thanks for your efforts!
  11. Oops. wrong file uploaded :D It was indeed an invalid character. I would've expected EoF to throw an error since it warns me about other mistakes/faults. Thanks for clearing it up!
  12. RCST generates an error while building a package with the following vocal .xml: https://www.mediafire.com/?f03atkcd3ejwt34. Translated the error is something like the following: 'The XML document (11,61) contains an error '. Do you know what's wrong? Could RCST maybe give a more informative warning? :)
  13. Sometimes I get a strange result with DDC: a pull-off when the previous note is a note without a fret. For instance, highest difficulty is 0h3p0 and DDC makes 0p0 from this on a lower difficulty. This isn't possible to play, is it? :) (I'm not that good so i might be overlooking something!). I suggest that DDC should look backwards with pull-offs to look if the previous note is played on a fret or not. Not sure if this makes any sense, my guitar lingo isn't that up to scratch.
  14. What I did was: add a load of songs (some of which might already have DD, not sure) to the package window, press generate DD, then while it was generating DD, add new files. It seems that it crashed while doing a package of the first load, namely "Led_Zeppelin_Living_Loving_Maid_(She's_Just_a_Woman)_v1_0_p" (see http://customsforge.com/page/customsforge_rs_2014_cdlc.html/_/pc-enabled-rs-2014-cdlc/living-loving-maid-shes-just-a-woman-r592 ).I don't know if the crash has got anything to do with the info given, but maybe it saves you guys time :) (Not sure how to do spoiler tags...) 2014-08-13 23:10:33.5271 | RocksmithToolkitGUI.Program (INFO) : RocksmithToolkitGUI.Program.Main Version: 2.6.1.0-bfe09f91 2014-08-13 23:10:33.5271 | RocksmithToolkitGUI.Program (INFO) : RocksmithToolkitGUI.Program.Main OS: Microsoft Windows NT 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 2014-08-13 23:10:33.5271 | RocksmithToolkitGUI.Program (INFO) : RocksmithToolkitGUI.Program.Main Command: "D:\RCST\RocksmithToolkitGUI.exe" 2014-08-13 23:22:19.1855 | RocksmithToolkitGUI.Program (ERROR) : RocksmithToolkitGUI.Program.<Main>b__1 mscorlib Void ThrowInvalidOperationException(System.ExceptionResource) Exception catched: System.InvalidOperationException De verzameling is gewijzigd. 15. Now I get a comparable error when trying to add a tone (again, latest update): *stacktrace removed, thank you*
  16. Still an error but: did I wait long enough? I don't know at what time new builds are compiled :)
  17. It's more fun with DD to learn a song I don't know that good yet since I can learn the timing and the notes little by little. However, some streaks are more difficult with some notes removed than with all of them in place, and if I really want to learn a song I go to the riff repeater (which I do when I reach my limit on DD as well).
  18. Apparantly my bad, I tried a little piece yesterday (the high notes, not the chords) and notes didn't register, but now played the whole song and also getting 76%. Maybe my volume was too low or something, I tried to make little noise as it was late :) --- You can divide a song into sections, for instance: Intro | Verse | Chorus | Verse | Chorus | Solo | Chorus In Rocksmith, I can select a section in the Riff Repeater. This helps me if I, for instance, want to practice the solo. If the song is one giant section, I can't select the solo in Riff Repeater and have to practice the whole song (which I might already be able to play). You can insert sections in EoF, I believe with ctrl+shift+s, or the menu option. Phrases are little parts of sections. Every repeated riff can be a new phrase. Phrases are used by Dynamic Difficulty. If you have multiple difficulties (which you don't have to make by hand but can let automagically create by DDC in the toolkit), Rocksmith adapts the number of notes to your playing level. Phrases are repeated riffs: lets say you play the same riff 4 times in the verse. If you play it right the first time, the next phrase (2nd time the riff is played in the first verse) Rocksmith adds more notes until you can play all notes. Phrases are needed so Rocksmith knows which parts are 'linked'. Since phrases can be placed by DDC you usually don't do this by yourself (which you could do in EoF). Riff Repeater (and thus sections) and dynamic difficulty (and thus phrases) are bonuses, the song is already playable as it is, but can be really helpful for people trying to learn the song. ---- Got 77,2% the second time on lead. Might still be something wrong, I would've guessed I should've got around 90%... Can't be the original problem though :D If i find out more I'll let you know.
  19. - shows up in my list :) - bass seems to be in sync and generally just works :) - lead and rhythm still don't seem to register. I gave you some hints but since you don't reply to them (did you try to find out what I said? What are the results?) I can't help you any further. - you've created (IMO) too few sections to be helpful, less than 4 in a song is probably too low. If I see it correctly you did make phrases. You don't have to create phrases if you don't add difficulty levels and if you do want to add difficulty levels, you can let DDC do it for you. You maybe want to make a section of every phrase you made and then let DDC sort out the rest. Sections are helpful when using Riff Repeater to learn how to play a small piece of the song and if I have to play through 2 minutes of song I can play to practice 10 seconds I do want to practice, it's not very efficient. (Just as an example)

  21. 3 - open notes.eof in EoF and look at the left side. Tuning you're using is Eb so there you should see EbAbDbGbBbEb. If that is the case (which I hope isn't, because then the solution is simple :)), check in RCST what tuning is selected at the arrangement. Whatever you choose to be the tuning, these two have to match. 4 - you don't have change it, some players will prefer Eb tuning because then they don't have to change tuning for your song. Your CDLC, your choice :). You can also do both: copy the notes to another arrangement and change tuning there so you can add Bb as a bonus arrangement. 5 - see http://rocksmithcustoms.wikispaces.com/DynamicDifficulty . 6 - maybe after creating sections, if not, then I also don't know the issue It takes a while to learn how to create CDLC. At first syncing seems to be the most important, but there's a lot more to it. On the other hand, you're more than halfway :) I've made a topic about the problems I encountered: http://customsforge.com/topic/5096-cdlc-troubleshooting/?hl=troubleshooting .
  22. 1 - Song doesn't show up in Rocksmith. Solution: change app id to Cherub Rock (which is what most people here would expect). 2 - Sometimes a little bit out of sync I believe (most often little bit late), but no problems with registering if I play along with the song 3 - adding sections is helpful when using Riff Repeater which is a necessity for me to learn the solo :) 4 - adding phrases is helpful when using Dynamic Difficulty. This is really easy with DDC in RCST, you don't have to add phrases or difficulty levels manually. But, I'm not sure whether DD© is helpful in this song, rhythm is very easy and for solo I would have to slow it down to get the trick. 5 - since you've included the solo I would call it a Lead arrangement, but that's me :) 6 - I'm not good at this, but isn't there a part with palm mutes? It's easier to add this in a guitar pro file if you're working from this than in EoF. 7 - I see 4 guitar here ( ), isn't there more to play? (bass or whatever). You might want to use this as a source for that: http://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/t/trans-siberian_orchestra/wizards_in_winter_4_guitars_guitar_pro.htm .
  23. 1 - Song doesn't show up in Rocksmith. Solution: change app id to Cherub Rock (which is what most people here would expect). 2 - Everything seems to be in sync 3 - Notes don't register (I'm not a good guitar player but I didn't miss 600+ notes!). My guess is that the tuning in EoF isn't set right (or RCST? Can't remember what causes this problem). 4 - It sounds like the tuning of the original song is lower (Bb instead of Eb?). I'm not really knowledgable about guitars, maybe that isn't achievable with a regular guitar. Otherwise you might want to try the trick as described in http://customsforge.com/topic/5227-5-strings-bass-and-low-note-recognition/ . 5 - adding sections is helpful when using Riff Repeater 6 - adding phrases is helpful when using Dynamic Difficulty. This is really easy with DDC in RCST, you don't have to add phrases or difficulty levels manually . 7 - adding bass is really little effort if you've used the vertical bars in EoF to sync and there's a bass line in your source (there seems to be in http://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/i/iced_earth/i_walk_alone_guitar_pro.htm ).
