  1. Hello, I saw the note on the Developer renewal deadline so I went over to donations and something is off. I made two donations one to the 6 mo server renewal and one to the Aug developer budget. I see the green bar that says I've made the donations. However in the donation history and the totals neither of my donations are reflected. e.g. as of writing the it shows for the 6 mo server renewal it shows 9 donations for a total of $95.00 but mine is not listed there. and when I look at my donations it shows I did donate to it.
  2. Weepeel - Zans, can you please take that topic to another thread, it's not relevant to this topic and it's taken a 1/2 page already. Engleg - that might be a good way to start, maybe we could create a forum area that's dedicated to new capabilities & enhancements requests of the entire suite of tools. I think we need more than just a forum, we probably need more of a "form" to gather and track requests similar to how we have the great CDLC search page and the ability for the community to give a vote of support so they end up getting prioritized by the community. Is that something the Site Dev/Admins would be interested in starting? Also, I'd suggest we try and design the form to abstract the capability/feature from the tool. as an example, rather than say "Give print ability to Tab Explorer" it should be requested as "Provide Print capability of tabs within PSARC files" - the method is up to the developer willing to take it on how best to implement and in which tool.
  3. So that would be for them to decide. they would put together a brief proposal of work, develop it, if it's good enough the community agrees to release the funds and they are responsible for distributing as the arranged. the intent is to keep the sites involvement simple. Have a forum for ideas that would be funded, collect funds, distribute funds. and it would be up to the community to come to agreement when to start collecting and when and how much to distribute. I don't believe it's that complex a concept and there's no need to over-complicate it. Firekorn - Money is always a motivator after self-driven motivation, if you have others, please suggest.
  4. Wepeel - All respect, but you are missing the point, my comments about TabExplorer print is just an example. I am not saying the project has to continue as is. it's the capability that is the project I would sponsor. I don't want my example of TabExplorer to overshadow this thread. But FYI, it uses alphatab.net for all the rendering which is html and works with a browser which can handle print. So I do think it's easy since all the heavy lifting is done via an open source tool that can do more that RS. I believe the real work is completing the conversion of the RS charting format to one alphatab.net can render, and the TabExplorer Developer appears to have done 75% of that work as well. But the solutioning should be its own thread and that's what this is about - seeing if CF can help facilitate projects like this for the community. so I'd rather we alll (including myself) didn't talk project specifics unless it's for example purposes.
  5. If thought of in terms as pay, it may seem unfair. but as you mentioned, it's more about motivation and less about paying for the actual development.. This community is far from being able to fund all the work the developers do and I wouldn't exclude any existing tools from it either. for instance, if we want better screen format for EoF, that could be a project and funding and EoF developers can get that money. Also conversely, If the Rocksmith Toolkit Developers want to implement a cool new feature. but it's going to take them 300 hours or they need to license some software to do it.. they could post the project here and solicit finding for it. The spirit of the idea is that we're just trying to facilitate the community supporting progress, help with motivating work the community feels is needed, and as a result, developers may get free pizza for a week out of it.
  6. This is the spirit of what I was getting at. Don't donate if you don't want to give it a shot. my goal is keeping this as informal as possible so my earlier comments of a SOW are probably harder. My hope would be that this would work more like an incentive program for people with Dev skills... Work would be something like - Hey, if you could add the print capability to TabExplorer, there's $120 in donations you can have PayPal'd to you. Want to take the task on? To earlier points, this is a community, there should be no formal expectations. we should try and keep this as "light" as possible. development is an unknown, you can't give someone $100 and expect the world. I personally would donate with the hope that we made some improvement in our tools and the people that do it get a little cash out of it. If a developer puts 40 hours of work on a tool and it doesn't turn out as expected, I'd say give them the money if it comes with a new estimate to finishing. people either pay or done, or someone else may want to take over the effort. I'm no Developer, but I'd also love to help out on a project with non-dev stuff (e.g. documentation, testing, data analysis, repetitive tasks and such)
  7. I hear you, and that's the sort of stuff I wanted to hash out in this thread. I would think certain things would have to be defined, a statement of work drawn up with the developer, similar to the way i'd imagine CF does for development work on the site... it would need some controls and such and since this is an educational community it's need to be more loose in it's a best effort to do a release, it doesn't imply ongoing maintenance, improvements or support. it's a set scope before it starts.. thinks like over funding would be rejected and returned once the limit is reached. My problem with tabs - they are all terrible and wrong and they NEVER align to the tabs we use in the game. Tab explorer lets us take the actual DLC/CDLC tabs and practice them offline and share with others for learning where everyone is on the same page. Guitar Pro is a great tool, but IMO most the tabs out there are garbage and it doesn't help to learn a song in the game with a chord progression of C D Em, then go to ultimate-guitar.com and grab a tab that says the same progression is B7sus4, Dadd9, Am. I'm attempting humor but the reality is in 99% of the cases the tabs are that far off. This community has far better tabs than anything I've ever been able to find off the internet.
  8. I was wondering the admins and communities thoughts on using CustomsForge as a way to raise funds to support development of our customs tool suite. The reason I ask; there is an amazing tool that was started but died a few months back that could use some developer attention. Would CF be willing to be a vehicle for and support the raising of funds and identification of developer willing/able to take over the effort and future tool efforts? Sort of like a kickstarter type role for CDLC related projects. I personally would be willing to donate additional funding that would go directly to specific causes. Maybe it starts as a simple forum area setup where the community can post ideas, hash out appetite and options and come up with a concept. If it looks like it could get traction allow people to do non-committal funding pledges to see if there's a real willingness to contribute, if it gets enough attention it could then move to sourcing phase where people would have to send actual donations (all no guarantee of course) marked for that project and CF community of developers could offer to take on the work and get paid for it. I know I make it sound simple and there's probably some legal crap that could bind things up but maybe this could help us progress the toolset. BTW - RS Tab Explorer is the tool I'm referring to. I think it's as important as EoF & the Rocksmith Toolkit to this whole customs project. It has massive potential in my opinion. 9. Thought I'd pass this along. can't beat $15 for the game. http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-RS2014/rocksmith-2014
  10. This tool is as important to the whole Rocksmith customs project as EoF and the Toolkit. I would pay for this to get some prime time developer attention. It's a great start but it needs some attention as notes are missing, bends don't show up and without print it's not very useful But this could be awesome if some of the DEV team could put some cycles toward this and maybe incorporate it with the other tools. I see at the bottom of the tab page it credits alphatab.net as the engine, hitting their website it looks like a pretty robust html or .net based tool that already does most the work, and it supports ALL of capabilities of Rocksmith, my guess is it's simply a matter of reformatting the note metadata to what alphatab needs to display it. I really wish I had some DEV skills, but based on everything I see on the alphatab site... it doesn't appear to be that complex.
  11. The real problem is who ever came up with tabs made a moronic mistake and did it upside down, now we have to live with it.. I switched a year ago from "common sense" view to the upside-down to match the tabs view just because it makes tab reading less-confusing... but I'd rank the choice to start the tab layout upside-down on par with the computer nerds not thinking a PC would be used beyond 1999 leaving us with Y2K to clean up...
  12. THIS IS AWESOME!!!! Thank you for tool, I am going to use this all the time, I've really been wanting to make a Tab book and take it with me so I don't need the game but can still practice the EXACT same TAB that I'm doing in the game... since the Interwebs is littered with poor tabs I can never find a tab to any song that's close the RS tabs. Really nice work. If you don't mind, I have some suggestions for future versions that would make this even better: Bring over Lyrics aligned to the music. Ability to print the tabs Ability to export the GP6 file. I noticed Some songs have BPM, while others don't. e.g. Pearl Jam Black Lead does, but Rhythm & Bass Don't. Do you know why, is that part of the metadata of the file when it's packedReally nice work on this tool... thanks for building this.
  13. Is it possible you had one of the outputs going out "Output"? that's how I had it setup at first and I couldn't get it to work, it has to be Send A & B. the Y cable was a disaster because it it allows 3-way signal flow and noise from the PC goes back to the Guitar and amp.. Mine had a horrible constant background hiss. I have a Fender SuperSonic22 - it's generally a noisy amp to begin with so that may be part of my personal issue with the Y cable not working, but even with the amp unplugged or powered off it was still noisy... those Y cables are made like sheit with no shielding and garbage quality so I'd imagine you could try 10 and get different results with each one. I also have a VHT Special 6 for the quite times. Do you use any pedals or try and clone-the-tone? I mostly do clean channel on this setup because I'm doing this to ensure my play is clean, and not so much for the actual sound... clean makes it so much easier to find the flubs.
  14. @@kedhrin - So input is the guitar, "Send A" to the Amp, "Send B" to the Realtone cable. Set the dial to the second from the bottom selection which is A+B Mix Bypass. Then activate the pedal and both the green and red lights will be on. I leave the two other volume knobs at mid-point... Works like a champ and no feedback what so ever for me. And to early post, you were correct it's an LS-2 I have.
  15. I found the Y cable to not work so well - feedback between PC, Guitar and amp that was too much. I ended up getting a Boss LS1 used on ebay for $20 something and it's a far better solution if you want to play this way. The other thing I do sometimes is just use the amp and don't bother with realtone cable - set the song to riff repeat and who cares if you score a 0, the notes come if you set it so dynamic difficulty doesn't auto-change.
  16. If anyone is looking for a copy. Can't beat $24. http://www.macgamestore.com/product/3006/Rocksmith-2014-Edition/
  17. We all pretty much own the game (bold assumption?) but if anyone is looking for a friend to get started a bit cheaper than normal pricing. Amazon (US) has the PS3/360 game WITH the cable for $39.99. 360 Version: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D6PTMSW/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_2?t=slicinc-20&tag=slicinc-20&ascsubtag=fd73eb956c714697aba8d4f872ae455a&ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER PS3 Version: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D6PTMSW/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_2?t=slicinc-20&tag=slicinc-20&ascsubtag=fd73eb956c714697aba8d4f872ae455a&ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
  18. Not sure what they are just yet. How does it feel is one of them
  19. I asked the same question back on SA months ago since there wasn't much their either, I was ripped apart for bringing up the subject.... seems no one wanted to tackle PJ work. But man would I love some PJ to play. I still think Alive may be the best official DLC to date. Anything off Ten album, Yellow Ledbetter, Go, Animal, Rearviewmirror, elderly woman, Daughter, I got shit (ID), Immortality, Last kiss, Nothing as it seems, sate of love and trust, Crazy Mary, Sirens, I Am Mine, Of the Girl --- just to name some off the to top of my head that would be on the wanted list.
  20. Not sure of songs yet, but this is it according to official twitter.
  21. Heart is the release, don't know the songs yet. https://twitter.com/Rocksmithgame/status/443170503692267520/photo/1

    Amps!

My main amp is a Fender SuperSonic 22, and my practice amp is a VHT Special 6. I also have a small Orange Crush 20DLX that my daughter uses. The Fender is a great amp but it does have a lot of base noise so it can be annoying at low volumes.
  23. I spent hours trying to do it, it's very embedded across many packed and compressed files and is part of a intro sequence that intermingles the images with actual game setup.. so if you removed an image/video then it wouldn't activate the realtone cable, or the menu's wouldn't come up... it requires someone with real game development using GFX actionscript skills. last I remember someone who did know actionscript didn't think it was going to be easy. I was successfully able to replace the video's with other videos, but even though they were shorter video's the intro sequence still took the same time, so I guess there's a timed schedule of events that dictate the intro length and it's not driven off the video's ending. here's some of my findings if anyone wants to take a crack at it: So here's some information on my investigation.it is confirmed it's the "cache.psarc" file inside it there is the file "cache4.7z" inside that you need to navigate to "gfxassetsviews" and you will find the entire intro sequence. there are two file types in there.DDS - these are the video's, you can replace them with any DDS (I tried with the smallest file I could find it's in the "cache8.7z" file under "gfxassetslibsblackbox.png.dds" it's only 144 bytes)GFX - Only one file called introsequence.gfx" and this appears to be the director of the intro sequence - somehow this needs to be edited as this is what plays the intro music, loads the program and plays the intro video's. it appears this has timing in it, so even with the shorter video's it still waits the same length of time for the video's to complete. the GFX file is not a simple notepad++ editable file. so this is where my skills end. I did try dropping a few other GFX files in there and the game won't load.I believe our only hope of shortening the intro is to figure out the "introsequence.gfx" file.Doing a quick Google of GFX editors and it appears there are applications out there that can do this and references to other games with YouTube tutorials on how to modify the GFX file to change the HUD or other things... so it looks possible if someone with skills wants to give it a shot.
  24. I tried the splitter cable and it didn't work well at all - lots of hum and buzz in both the game and the Amp. because it's literally just soldering two cables together you get all the computer interference passing right through the splitter and into the amp. and vice verse... not a very clean connection. So I ended up picking up a Boss LS-2 (Line Selector Pedal) which cleanly splits the guitar down and A/B path and does so without interference. Behringer makes an AB100 for $25 that supposedly does the same thing, but I hadn't tried it. I found a used Boss pedal for $45 on ebay.
