Got my five string today and played a good bit of your customs, they are so much fun to play :) In Flames customs were pretty much the reason I started looking into getting a 5 string and trying to find a fix for the notes to register. One thing though, you could up the volume of the bass parts.

Going Low: a Workaround to get Bass Notes below C1 to register in Rocksmith

Hmm, what did you set the tuning as in EoF and the toolkit? -

I have a few songs in mind I might chart, none of them need the G string though. -

That top string is always red between a guitar and a 4-string bass though. For me switching between a 4-string chart and a 5-string chart, playing my 5-string bass, the colors will be associated to different string each time. I'm not the most knowledgeable on guitars, but aren't some songs tuned B standard where the strings are B-E-A-D and so forth on guitar too. -

Well, some people play both the guitar and bass, I think it's more of a thing to adapt between a guitar and a bass than a 5 string and a 4 string. -

Oh I didn't realize the tuning goes from the highest string to lowest instead of the other way like on the bass part. My bad. -

Huh, I must have done/looked something wrong then. Pretty cool that it's working. You just played the open strings in tuning and it worked? For me it seemed the tuning was too high. -

You wanted someone to test the bass part in Land Of Confusion? I didn't see a bonus arrangement so I played the regular bass part. It worked out well. I got a 99.3% accuracy so the tuning worked It's the lead guitar bonus arrangement, we're trying that with a bass. -

Ok, gave the bonus lead arrangement a try. Something's not right, the low C string is still 500 cents above my high G string, so it's a C3 note apparently. What did you set the tuning as? -

How do the bonus arrangements even work? It asks you to choose when you're picking the song? Or do they show up as 2 separate songs so to speak? I have 0 experience with them. -

I haven't done any research, but I feel like there is a strong negative correlation between a song actually utilizing all of the 5 strings and the song being easy :P I should be getting my 5 string sometime next week. -
Only an hour or two? What the heck am I doing wrong ? Guitar parts. As opposed to only bass that is :P

You can check the curvature of your neck with a long ruler for example. Place it against the fretboard and check if the neck bends outwards like this: )| or inwards like this: (| . The curvature will not be as exaggerated of course, it will be very small if any so look carefully. If it bends outwards like )| the strings are very likely to hit the "hump" in the middle of the neck and create buzz. You can remedy this by loosening the truss rod of the neck (turning counter-clockwise). If you start messing with the truss rod make only a little change, like a 1/8th of a turn, let the wood settle for a while and then check again. I personally prefer having just a little inwards curvature, I think you can make it flat too, that's up to preference.

This is why we need all the charters we can get, so that someone could chart the songs you love while you chart the songs they love :)

I think it would be good if some filmatic person could do a video tutorial on this perhaps. I can probably try and do it maybe in a couple of weeks when I get my 5-string but if someone feels like doing it before feel free to do it. -

By the way, have you tried playing the bass parts you've done with this trick on emulated bass? Does it work like normal? -

Ross replied to Ross's question in Rocksmith Remastered
Yeah, I guess for the "bass as a guitar" trick you need an actual 5-string, that or you need to tune your guitar to bass register :) I don't think you can use the bass emulation when playing guitar parts? -

Ross replied to Ross's question in Rocksmith Remastered
Oh, and I haven't heard anybody try but I guess a bass part done with this trick should also work with emulated bass completely normally. Correct me if I'm wrong. -

Ross replied to Ross's question in Rocksmith Remastered
For just being able to play it on emulated bass you don't have to do anything. For being able to play it with an actual bass guitar you need to implement the trick, assuming the song in in a tuning that has a B string or lower. Have you charted it as a bass part or a guitar part? I don't think anyone has tried the guitar trick yet. But for a bass part the quote from LittleLui in the first post should have you covered. Of course you can ask more if you don't understand. With a bass part you only get 4 strings in game but in most cases that should be enough right? :) You can use the lowest 4 strings on a 5 string. -
For me Rocksmith sets the recording volume to 70 instead of 17 automatically. Maybe that's because I play the bass?
-
I guess I should have added "what do you do most of the time".

Sorry for this, I'm not a bass player. I just took some tabs  This comment inspired me to make a poll for cdlc creators asking what kind of work they put into the tabs in their songs to be correct. It will be interesting to see if the results differ from instrument to instrument :)
-
That is a bit helpful actually. Even when I click on the "my uploads" button it shows Crossbolt's content, it's a bit awkward :)

Is there a way to search for exact match in the cdlc search? I thought I was lucky to get this username :P http://search.customsforge.com/?q=ross#

Ross replied to lahelio's question in Rocksmith Remastered
I guess people usually read the comments in the song thread before downloading, so it would be best to say that there is an issue with the song there anyways.
