  1. Tell us how you solved it (or what you were doing wrong), someone else will have the same problem in the future and find this...
  2. Yeah I got sick of "naming" every section too. I always have an "Intro" and an "Outro", but everything in between is a "verse". When naming sections they get called 1, 2, 3, 4, ... much quicker than typing out proper names all the time and makes no difference in game (I don't use DD). I would try to have an Intro and Outro (which actually contain notes) though, as this keeps EoF happy :)
  3. Just to add to MVega's excellent instructions - You do not need to be on a beat marker to add a tone change. It can keep things neat if you do but sometimes songs require a tone change off the beat (because the chorus may start on the actual beat and you want the tone engaged maybe 0.5 seconds before the chorus). The tone change will occur wherever the green play bar is located when you make one - Hold down ctrl when pushing the arrow keys to move the green play bar slowly (for precision tone changes) - The shortcut for tone changes is ctrl+shift+t which is much quicker than navigating menus every time - If you forget to create a default tone, EoF will warn you during a save - make sure you do it at some point or it causes big problems later on
  4. Another one to check out is http://www.tabscout.com/ I've found some tabs on there that are not anywhere else, but tbh most sites have the same tabs... Don't be afraid to use different tabs for different arrangements though! Quite often I'll use the lead from one tab and the bass from another, just depends what ends up "looking better" in game.
  5. Yes :) Ask any questions you want man. Start a thread and ask, that's how I learned... along with a lot of trial and error :)
  6. Based in Edinburgh? Born and raised my man! Jambo, and very partial to winding up hibees :)
  7. So many beautiful guitars, I think I just popped a stiffy :) Here is mine... how I love her... http://images.ukcs.net/13647/Guitar_Shot_1.jpg
  8. What happens now is always the way I wanted it, where the first beat marker (the leftmost marker) is locked so that when you drag the marker where the gems begin (not necessarily the left most beat marker) to where want you it then the grid stretches. I always found before that no matter what beat marker I grabbed (maybe the 2nd or 3rd measure) and tried to stretch, the entire grid would move. This leads to blank "black" space at the beggining of the project and messages when saving about it. I used to anchor a beat (selecting then pressing "A"), maybe the 3rd or 7th or 10th beat, then begin to stretch. I have not maunally changed anything in settings and so I presumed that EoF had changed to accomodate this. It may well be my dodgy mouse action that was causing the grid to move before. There is so much to take in when begining custom making that I was just happy to get the first gems lined up, then off I would go syncing to the song. Maybe EoF has always done this and it was something I was doing that was making the entire grid move. I don't know exactly how to make the entire grid move (or not), I am just happy now that I don't (feel like I) have to copy and paste multiple arrangements (and tech notes) to get the gems all lined up nice on the first notes. Hope that makes sense... :) I am still learning with each song I do. I only realised recently I could shift+End to select every gem from the highlighted gem to the end, which is a massive time saver. I am not trying to be presumptuous about EoF, maybe I could have typed my previous post more clearly.
  9. Presumably you mean when you set your first beat marker? EoF's behavior has changed in recent versions to make this "more difficult". I used to do it a lot. To get around it I would anchor the first marker (click on it then press "A"), then you can drag them around to your heart's content. Use the latest EoF and just try out dragging until you are happy, try to get to know the difference between dragging the entire map and dragging individual markers. Also, if you are dragging over a long distance, you need to be careful and keep the mouse straight. Sometimes gems start to move and stuff if your mouse goes wayward. Remember... ctrl+Z is your friend :)
  10. It's always a dilema when songs fade out as to where to end the chart, especially with guitar solos that fade out. A few custom I have done (Stone Roses, Steely Dan, Pink Floyd etc etc) actually have well charted solo outros, but it sounds horrible in game playing along to fading out music and the tone remains full volume. I try to cut at sensible places, but it is always unique to the particular song.
  11. I also appreciate higher quality audio. I always try to use cd rips (WAVs), and use at least quality 8 for the final build WEMs. Although, sometimes the source audio has more to do with the end quality than what number in Wwise you use. If it's a modern production that's been "mastered for iTunes", then it still sounds good as quality 4 - my Let Her Go custom as a case in point, I had to dl the audio from iTunes as I had no cd, and since it was already mp4 I just used quality 4 in Wwise, yet it sounds amazing (to my ears) in game. But I do like the "airiness" and full bass that comes with quality 9...
  12. Tony Montana contemporaneous squid•19 hours ago Artists are inspired by other people's material. That's all this is and not even a note for note lift of the few bars in question. (I'm listening to The Twelve Dreams of Doctor Sardonicus on You Tube as we speak, great stuff!) Someone's looking for a pay day, that's all. This is America. First comment on that page. Amen :)
  13. Sorry man, I'm pretty ignorant with music notation. So anything other than 4/4 is going to need adjusting? Maybe why I've never really noticed before, cause everything I've done is 4/4. It's only pretty recently I've had to make tempos 120+ for songs I know are slow, and in conflict with the GP file says which says 78BPM or so. The Pink Floyd one needs to be circa 250BPM in EoF, those kinds of numbers have never come up before, is that normal? Edit - it's 12/8. I see, sorry :)
  14. Hi, I have only noticed this recently, using 1336 and 1337. I think it happened when I was using 1334 (and maybe even a couple before that) too but I can't be certain. For info, I never use any timings or bpm from the gp on import, I always pick "no". After import to EoF, I need to manually double the BPM on EoF (with adjust notes ticked) to bring the notes into line. It is exactly double. It does not happen with every GP file. Here are some examples http://www.sendspace.com/file/qrsxbx You can watch my Damien Rice - Rootless Tree vid (in the op of my database record) to see what it ends up looking like in game. Hope it's an easy fix :)
  15. Platform - PC Shooter - Counter Strike Source, BF4 (I would say CoD, but they have all been crap since MW2) Driving - Dirt 3 (I would say Test Drive Unlimited 2, but that's now bankrupt/offline) Biking - Trials (2.0, Evolution, Fusion) 3rd Person - Sleeping Dogs (soooo much more fun than GTA, looking forward to PC GTA5 though :) )
  16. Thought I would enter a score seeing as its my custom :) http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/613924704211714642/55039660D7BBC1B9CB3B25B22BB69E1BDECDBCAC/ Have fun :) Dunno how to get the pic to display :(
  17. I knew there would be a way and that you good people would know the answer if I got stuck :) I was pretty lucky to find the correct tuning pitch of the audio, I usually crack up trying to find it. Looking forward to getting the song out tonight, after I work on tones etc...
  18. I had my own tuning problem last night, but it seems you guys are on the ball. I was trying to get F standard tuning on the guitar (1 semitone up). RS14 does not support this on guitar, but you can do it on bass. EoF was just a case of setting all tuning to "1". When importing the XML to the toolkit it got a bit weird. I could only get FBbEbG#BE, which is fine for bass as it only has 4 strings, but pretty useless for guitar. Incidentally, the bass worked (didn't try guitar) but I noticed the audio was still out of pitch so I detuned 25 cents and it was perfect. So in the end I used E standard tuning with A460, which worked out perfect :) Just a little story which may help someone sometime...
  19. Depends what the "output" jack on your amp is. If it's line level or pre amp out then it will be fine, if it's the output meant for a speaker then I wouldn't bother... Presumably you have a mic connected to your pc? Why don't you just play through your amp and record using the mic? Or record yourself using a webcam? Audacity is free and can record audio on your PC. Also, it is possible to record from your Realtone cable. There are many ways to do this. Again, Audacity will record from your Realtone cable. I would go get (free): Audacity Asio4All And try to set up recording your guitar into Audacity through your Rocksmith (Realtone) cable. Or go the easy way and just record using a mic into your pc. Enjoy!
  20. That was it... To be honest, it took me 5 mins to work out what was wrong with the tab (the time between the vids), and another 10 mins adding sections. That's it man, just packed it up and away we go :) Please remember though (if you are wanting to begin making customs) that I have spent many hours making many customs before this. Your first custom will take 10+ hours at least.
  21. I can't work out how to play MIDI notes with no lag, it's more off putting than helpful when the notes play half a second after the event. At least with claps I can tell that they are on time.
  22. How do you check the left/right channels in EoF? That does sound useful :)
  23. This is excellent man :) I was too lazy to type it all out so I just made a video :) I do not like to move the entire grid about and so I begin slightly differently. It is worth noting that sometimes the lead/rhythm/bass parts begin at different parts of the song, so you may have to find the correct starting point 3 times. Also, I think you miss a step between 16 and 17, you do not mention pasting the notes back in... Nice work man :)
  24. Resulting custom Hopefully it can help some people :) Questions welcome... CDLC available here http://customsforge.com/topic/5138-little-girl/
  25. I forgot about GetTheLedOut's amazing Led Zep custom The Lemon Song. Now that IS a bass workout :)
