  1. Turns out I had messed around with my speaker settings earlier to try and see if I could get better-quality sound. I put it back at the recommended settings and things are working again.
  2. Some more information, if it will help anyone figure this out. Here are my microphone settings for the output cable: http://i.imgur.com/KBXGZpQ.jpg It's not set to my default recording device, though (The laptop mic is). Should I make it the default? There's also a Realtek Stereo Mix option under recording devices that is disabled; should I turn that on?
  3. For the past day, whenever I boot up RS2014, at the first loading screen, I get a popup window titled "ERROR SOUND INITIALIZATION" with the following message: "No audio output device is detected. Please connect and enable an audio output device then restart Rocksmith 2014." Can anyone tell me what I need to adjust to fix this? I already tried restarting both Steam and my PC to no avail.
  4. Hmmm, I tried tightening the crossbar, but the screws in that were so tight that I couldn't move them in either direction. Guess I should head to the local music store sometime this week and see if they can offer any hands-on advice.
  5. https://www.mediafire.com/?3klckijc9g300fb This is my first nearly-complete RS2014 custom, and I've run into numerous problems with it. For one, the custom tones are failing to load for some reason. I also can't test out bass at the moment due to technical problems with my actual bass guitar. Finally, tuning seems off. Though I have the EOF file set to D Drop C (Tabs online also say that's what it should be), the Toolkit suggests EB Drop DB when I first load it, and even after manually changing it, it seems to have trouble detecting correct notes - I find that moving the actual notes I play up to be 1 additional fret higher than what the game is telling me to do registers fine for some reason. Can anyone help out with this? Here's the actual song for reference or those curious.
  6. If this helps, does it matter if I delete the Default tone in the toolkit, so long as I have a specified default tone in the EOF XML file? And do I have to place an event for the default tone at the very beginning of the song, or is it automatic?
  7. Lately, I've been unable to both play and test songs in RS2014 on bass, because out of nowhere a few days ago, my bass strings started acting up. Basically, when I strum a string (fingered or picked), it will make a muted, twang-y sound that quickly fades away, though it still makes normal, solid and lasting notes when I strum while holding down on a fret. Unfortunately, this makes traditional tuning pretty much impossible. I posted about this on another forum and was told that this likely has to do with how the strings are arranged in the nuts on the headstock, and I've spent a while attempting to properly restring that part, despite having no idea how to go about the proper way since I'm still generally a novice, and I've already broken 2 or 3 strings in the process and am out of spares. Does anyone have any advice for this? I've included a picture of the headstock and nuts if that helps. http://i.imgur.com/A6gvU05.jpg
  8. I just generated a custom song I've been working on with the toolkit, and made sure to import the two guitar tones I made within RS2014, which had been specified in EOF and given simple, one-word titles (Lead and Fuzz). When I loaded the song up, though, I found that my guitar suddenly had no tone at all and was almost impossible to hear, and at the points in the song where it was supposed to switch tones, it just said the song title with a dash on the top right portion of the screen, but not Lead or Fuzz afterward. Is there a factor I'm not taking into account with tone creation and importing here, or is it some sort of bug?
  9. Okay. And do you know if I should literally just call the tone one word, like Bass, Clean, Fuzz, etc., or add the song title to it as well?
  10. I have a bass tone I made saved to my profile for a custom I'm working on, but I'm a little confused as to how I should go about naming it. I don't know whether to include the song title then add a dash and the word bass to make "Song Title - Bass", or if I should just call it Bass and the song title is added automatically ingame. The fact that I can't add spaces to tone names only makes things more confusing. Also, do I need to manually add an Insert Tone event at the beginning of the song in EOF to activate the tone, even if it's the only one used for the whole song?
  11. I'm still a bit of a novice when it comes to EOF, and even though I've found where the option to insert slides is under Note - Pro Guitar, I can't figure out what to do from there. http://i.imgur.com/BvbQu5Q.jpg Here's my song. I want the bend to start at the middle pair of notes (The 10 and 7 that aren't sustains) and end at the following notes (11 and 8). How would I go about doing that, and manually edit the slide's path if neccessary?
  12. I didn't think to look there. Thanks.
  13. Sorry if this has a really obvious answer, but I can't figure out how to export the finished guitar and bass tracks I've authored in EOF for use in the song creator toolkit. There doesn't seem to be an option for it anywhere that I see. How do I go about doing this?
