James, why don't you just use extra bass arrangements to add DD and non DD to the same custom/download?

 

Lots of people do that already.

Ok - Wild Sunshine by Spitfire is up. I've had another look at the ending to Pull Up To The Bumper, but it's still as mental as I remember it. Fingers crossed for some inspiration to chart it in the coming days/weeks/months.

Inspired by @@Elara's posting of An Emotional Fish's "Celebrate", I'm working on something from the same era now. This should be ready for release sometime over the weekend.

Just completed Make Me Smile (Come Up And See Me) by Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel. There was a version of this uploaded here, but it wasn't very accurate and as it has gone, I thought I'd finish the version I'd been working on before I was beaten to it. There's a couple of dodgy notes in it, and as I know that some players get upset if customs aren't 100% spot on accurate, I'll find them and fix them in due course. 

Yay! I finally found a decent looking tab for "No Such Thing" by John Mayer. All current production has been stopped :-)

Pull Up To The Bumper by Grace Jones has been requested. Unfortunately the only tab I can find is hopelessly wrong, so this is going to be another one I have to do by ear. Luckily it's not that complicated so let's see what happens in the coming days...

Right, that's all the Grace Jones tracks I'd got in mind done. Next is something by the wonderful Sundays which those of you who remember the catchphrase "that's you, that is" should know.

Bat Out Of Hell was 95% synced, and then Go Playalong crashed! I was not impressed, I can tell you. Still, at least it's looking like I'll have it finished this weekend now.

This week I've discovered that Bat Out Of Hell isn't as impossible as I'd thought. Watch this space.

Unless anyone gets there before me, I've got "Every Kinda People" by Robert Plant ready for testing, and there might just be "Speed of Life" by David Bowie if everything goes well.

Currently in production - "Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me)" by The Temptations and the bassline for "Piece of my Heart" by Janis Joplin. I'd had "Piece" half done for a while now, but as the guitar version has appeared, I thought it only fair to provide the bass version too.

I would only be worried if the red silk stuff was that long it carried on over the nut at the top of the neck. If you're just winding "bare" string around the tuner, carry on as you are and you'll be fine.

Any tips on what strings for an Epiphone Thunderbird bass...... I just bought Rotosound but E String seemed a bit long......

I've not changed the stock strings on my Thunderbird yet (I'm waiting until I can afford a Babicz bridge, as the stock bridge is rubbish, then change the strings at the same time). I'd have thought that Rotosound would be just the job - if the E string's a bit long, can you trim the excess off?

I've had a very long, tedious and annoying day at work @@Aludog and I was being very flippant in my last post :-) Your words are, as always, very wise and I would not hesitate to recommend them to any aspiring bass player.

"Don't Give Up" by Gabriel and Bush is up. Some of the dum-diddy-dum bits at the end are out of whack but this shouldn't really spoil your enjoyment of the song. No, that will have been spoiled far, far earlier on by all those chords. I hate chords. Chords are for guitarists and should never trouble the neck of a four stringed instrument. The strings are too big and the frets are too far apart for one thing. If I'd wanted to play chords, I'd have taken up guitar, and it's just as well I didn't really as then I'd have to moan about bass players posting bass-only customs on here.

Wild Is The Wind is nearly done - just some duff notes to sort out here and there. Having a dilemma about whether to use open strings or not. Decisions, decisions....

Currently doing "Wild Is The Wind" by David Bowie. I think I've made a major mistake by choosing to work on the version from Nothing Has Changed, as I'm sure it's twice as long as the original. It's all being done by ear because the tabs and sheet music you can buy are hopeless. It's looking good so far...

I found Bryan Ferry's Let's Stick Together and Avalon by Roxy Music on Ultimate Guitar this morning. My initial joy was dampened a lot when I saw they were by Neckwringer. Oddly as they were just bass PowerTabs, the tab for Let's Stick Together was missing fills and looks like it needs some rework, I've not looked at Avalon yet. If you're going to create just the bass tab, why not spend the time getting it right? I can forgive guitarists who throw together an approximate bass tab, but this is just lazy. Sadly Neckwringer appears to be one of these people who likes to get admiration for uploading as many tabs as they can without paying any attention to the quality. I have lost count of how many of his tabs I've wanted to convert to customs but it's just too much hard work so I've given up. Rant over!

Thanks to @@neilharvey I now know how to add DD. It's simple when you know how  :D . This is a great opportunity to revisit all those customs I made with comments such as "I'll fix this later" or "this isn't quite right, give me a few minutes and I'll sort it out", and 1) fix any issues, and b) add DD!

Ok everyone, Moondance by Van Morrison, something I have wanted to be able to play for YEARS, is now up. Even though I say it myself, it's not bad :)
