How does the disk import tool work then It converts the files from Rocksmith 1 game dowload to 2014 even on a mac. Is that done through steam is that why it can be done on a mac?

I have Rocksmith 2014, 2012 and the disk import tool on my mac computer. The on disk Rocksmith songs loaded into the game. I have downloaded some custom Rocksmith 2012 dlc can I convert it with the Rocksmith custom toolkit to work on my mac like I have done with Rocksmith 2014 custom? Do I have to have a purchased Rocksmith 2012 dlc on my mac as I have some purchased Rocksmith 2014 Dlc on there. Where would I place the converted 2012 dlc on my mac as they are .dat files Thanks in advance.

Rocksmith 2012 is now $15.00 on amazon for download but I have a mac. I have heard you need Rocksmith and the import tool to get dlc from steam but since I have a mac I won't be able to open Rocksmith on my computer when I download it. Will steam recognize it? Thanks in advance for any information. I don't want to buy it if I can't download dlc and it won't be recognized by steam.

i am trying to convert a song from PC to Mac and it usually works great, but with one song I get an error message. " System security cryptography exception: IV length is different from block size" I'm a novice at this so I'm not quite sure if there's something I can do to correct this. Any help would be appreciated.
