  1. Sorry I haven't been around much, this is my busy time of year. Lots to do on the farm and contracting. I barely have time to practice. :-)
  2. First album was Van Hallen on vinyl First Concert was Ozzy Osborne Diary of a Madman tour
  3. Yep not in this week either, good luck all.
  4. I don't think I'm playing this week, not interested in learning any of these songs, I have some I'm working on and don't want to take away from that time.
  5. Axl made more enemies then just his own band. While it may be disappointing to some that they wont play together, I personally can see the point. I think it is might be considered selfish to ask the rest of the band members to be forced to be around him again just so the fans could have some more of their music. Axl is a miserable person to be around according to all the stories and when you tour and work on music together the atmosphere must be that of nearly family. I saw them live and was so disappointed in the concert because of Axl's terrible live singing. Between Metallica and Guns and Roses Metallica blew them out of the water live and that was mainly because of Axl, Honestly they are all better off playing with out him. Just my opinion.
  6. @@madrebel Yep those are tough ones but eventually I will get there myself. Working on my speed always :-)
  7. @@Altamont-613 Those are great rules, guess I can't play the blues I have at least 2 of those. :)
  8. @@Szur sorry to hear about your finger that really sucks. Good luck though I'm going to shoot for 100% on this one just haven't taken much time with it yet. If it's any consolation I'm doing my first work for the season outside and I'm sore and my left arm keeps going numb. Nothing like a cut finger though.
  9. Okay here we go, first upload, I will work on it some more, I'm working on two other songs right now also. I need to get a better streak in this song and practice a couple of spots.
  10. @@GetTheLedOut That's a nice score on that song. I'm at around 60% after 2 try's. I'm thinking that working my way up the ladder of difficulty with Zep will increase my speed over all. I'm now playing Gallows Pole at about 95% at 90% speed I was practicing today at 97% so I'm getting there. The more I push myself with Zep the better my playing is getting across the board. 2 Hr's of Gallows Pole today and few others just to give my arm a rest, I'm done for the night I will hit it again in the morning.
  11. @@GetTheLedOut My attempt at the Lemon song leaves far too much to be desired right now. Almost have the bulk of Gallows pole down that last section is pretty fast for me but I'm hoping to post a score from that one this weekend. The thing I like about JPJ is you can play the song once you have the main rifts down, now emulating exactly how he played it or at least how it's tabbed is another story. I did hear in an interview with him when he was asked how do people do when creating tabs for your songs, do they get it right? He laughed a little and said "never". LOL Which could go either way for me.
  12. I was actually trying this song several months ago and I gave up on it when I found some other songs I wanted to work on. I have the hard parts at 93% speed but still can't hit it at 100%. I will work on it but here is where I am now.
  13. I hope it's a good thread, The lemon song huh, I think that may be a while lol I'm really looking forward to seeing some video's of people playing. I don't have the set up to make videos right now.
  14. I will start I know these are some of the easier songs for bass from Zeppelin but it's where I'm at right now.
  15. First I would like to thank everyone who has worked on Led Zeppelin Customs most especially @@GetTheLedOut for all his hard work on the Led Zeppelin Discography Project which you can find here. http://customsforge.com/topic/1299-led-zeppelin/ Being one of my all time favorite bands I wanted to see how others are doing on mastering Led Zeppelin. Always a challenge and always fun lets post videos and screen shots and challenge one another to do better. Feel free to post anything you like provided it's Led Zeppelin based. While I'm just a beginner myself I hope everyone has fun and lets Get The Led Out.
  16. @@GetTheLedOut Here is a bass lesson/interview with JPJ the most interesting part is between 9 and 10 min. He talks about never playing anything the same way twice or he would get bored. LOL That explains a lot. It's a good interview with a lot of insight into his style.
  17. At least there is no right or wrong way what ever works for you works for you. If there was a wrong way in music we would had never heard of Jimi Hendrix.
  18. I have watched a lot of their live videos and you can see it live. JPJ will turn to Bonham often in concert, other then the fact that he was painfully shy and very soft spoken if he even spoke there are key moments in the songs when they are working together. Playing Zeppelin on bass is a challenge like you said there are many times that JPJ leads the rhythm pulling Bonham. I think this also aloud all of them to be themselves. Page must had been in heaven with those two backing him up being one of the greatest guitarist of all times he had a lot of freedom. He never had to worry about his rhythm section they were always right were he needed them to be. They worked so well together that most people never notice those switch ups in rhythm. The songs still flow like wine, this is the reason I think they may well be the best rhythm section ever while supporting one of the best guitarist ever. I think the best decision they ever made was to stop when Bonham died, with out all four of them feeding off one another the way they did it would not be Led Zeppelin. Sorry I can get off on a tangent talking about this band. You're very welcome man! Glad you like it.I'm not even a bass player, but JPJ's stuff is just unreal. I always tell everyone that IMO, he's the most integral member of Zeppelin. He's not only been responsible for some the most creative basslines ever, but he's the one who prevents Bonham from speeding up all the time :-P You can really hear it on quite a few songs, having to sync each song for this project has made me notice it even more.
  19. I just wanted to thank you for all the Zeppelin and your hard work. Being a bassist Zeppelin is some of the best stuff out there. Bonham and Jones had chemistry like no others IMO. I'm looking forward to the rest. Thanks again. Just wish I could play it all but that will come in time.
  20. Because I could read Tab before I bought Rocksmith I too found the Rocksmith view confusing because after learning to read tab it was more intuitive to invert the strings. If you are new and don't read tab (which you may want to learn) I can easily see how the inverted strings would seem wrong. However if you ever go to learn tab you may find tab hard to read.
  21. @@Szur I think I'm going to skip listening to Freddie sing in slow motion all week. Deacon is an awesome bassist but there is a lot to remember in his songs. I'm really into gallows pole right now I want to have that one down in the next couple of days.
  22. @@Szur I was actually working on Gallows Pole by Zeppelin I will take a look at it. BTW I knew you could hit 100 on that one it was pretty easy. I would had been shocked if you didn't, I guess we will have to share the glory this week :ugeek:
  23. @@Szur Yep, you should be able too, this ones not too hard, defiantly not Kasmir lol
  24. I have to agree, the strings are not strung properly and the lead on them looks like it was a little short. Here is a good lesson on how to string a bass from elixers site. http://www.elixirstrings.com/tipsntricks/replacing-strings_bass.html. Just happened across this yesterday when i was string shopping. Had to settle for some Ernie Ball, no one local had the Elixers I wanted. I kinda live out in the middle of no where and didn't want to wait. Good Luck.
