  1. Glad l)ark_Seph beat me to it. It seems Chordify is indeed what you were asking about since you mentioned not liking the (overlapping) note tails. The document I made that was shared above is an unfinished tutorial that is nonetheless enough to build up to and understand the concept of EoF Chordify feature. I am glad to walk you through anything about it. Firekorn and I speak French, him being from France and me from Quebec, Canada. I am intrigued by there being a counter proposal found in iminashi’s tutorial. It is on my ToRead list. Meanwhile I would be surprised if Chordify was obsolete. Seems to me like it does serve a rare but very useful purpose. I promise I will one day finish my tutorial but my life pressures have changed and for the next few years I will be starved of free time. Sorry all!
  2. Not sure I understand. 1. Did raynebc’s advice not work? 2. I agree a HO without preceding note is not quite universally doable but with high gain I can get good sound just hammering down my finger somewhere on the fretboard. Perhaps that is a relative to the tapping concept. 3. I am wondering if behaviour applied to one string of a chord but not others is not best handled by the chordift status, assuming you had no luck with HO tech note. Can you show us on music sheets what you are trying to accomplish. If it is chordify that will help, I will walk you through the steps since I have not had time to complete a tutorial on the subject of this little known EoF feature. Good luck!
  3. OK I've resurrected this topic from the dead by paying for a Photobucket hosting subscription so that now the images can be seen again. I found 4 little typos in my Modes crib sheet and will update soon. 1) Page 1, Row 2, Column 1 --> C# Phrygian in the table should end with a C# not a C note, 2) Page 1, Row 1, Column 2 last bullet, last sentence --> the words 'but' and 'then' should be interchanged. 3) Page 1, Row 2, Column 3, bullet 4 --> should say "Db <-- Eb <-- F<-- Gb <-- Ab <-- Bb <-- C 4) Page 1, Row 2, Column 2, bullet 2 --> It's called the diatonic sequence not the diatonic series. I found a prominent You Tuber, an experienced former music producer and music school teacher, Rick Beato, that explains modes. I even spent $60 buying his hand-written PDF book (The Beato book) and I realize now that this subject of modes can get quite deep which might be more useful for Jazz than Rock due to the necessity for improvisation but which Ritchie Castellano showed, in the 2 videos posted above, is also very pertinent for metal. Rick Beato is quite knowledgeable but his camera in the various mode videos is not focused on the piano and so we could only really hear what he is playing but this is really helpful to get a feeling of the modes. I've just scratched the surface myself but intend to watch all his videos. My crib sheet is proving a valuable companion to watching these videos and understanding his various assertions. This is really exciting once you get it! Here is a first modes video made by Rick Beato: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DayGRT4084&index=16&list=PLW0NGgv1qnfwOCvaua3pRBCT7Vx-mlrHI
  4. OK, I caved in. It breaks my heart for you guys not to have access to this necessary information in the OP and throughout Customsforge. Darn photobucket.com charges U$100 per year to allow what they call 3rd party hosting, for example, posting here links to pictures I host with them. Now my thousands of pictures posted here will work again after almost 1 year not working. I figure moving forward it'll be my way of donating to this site by ensuring this site stays relevant and helpful. Cheers! Now if only I could find the time to make the sequel tutorial to this tutorial: "The Chordify tutorial", but my real life commitments are making a mess of my leisure time. I'll watch from the fence for a long while, hoping you guys and this site thrives long after my return.
  5. Sounds like accepting to continue on despite the unhandled exception issue worked, since I was able to complete remastering all my remaining CDLC. So it seems a partial solution was to not only uninstall the crashed CFSM but also to ensure the corresponding directories in Program Files(x86) and in Documents are uninstalled, then to install a fresh copy of CFSM. When I installed the fresh copy it did tell me it had to uninstall the old copy, but hey, whatever, it worked, albeit with a "unhandled exception" message (repeated here). So I didn't need to rollback my .Net from 4.7.1 back to 4.0. Phew. Though now I know that is in my back pocket if I need it. Thanks @@cozy1 for getting me up and running and for your usual helpfulness and this awesome batch tool you created. Thanks to the CFSM dev's. Awesome. Cheers!
  6. Hi cozy, Thanks a bunch for your response! I thought doing Windows App uninstall removed the CFSM, but it left the directory in Documents and in Program files (x86). Having now deleting those, the program parses my /DLC folder contents, but does give me the following dialog citing an Unhandled Exception, and does so every time I open. See here. Here is a copy paste of all the words in the text box of that dialog box. This reminds me, that shortly before CFSM 1.4.2.8 crashed on me, I got a very similar, if not identical dialog box. It is gibberish to me. :( My AV is off but I added CFSM as an exclusion. I can say "Continue anyway" so I will see if I can muddle through some 300 or so remastering CDLC (that worked 100% on my laptop with CFSM 1.4.1.4) and will report back after kids in bed tonight. Cheers! P.S. @@dreddfoxx CDLC that he remastered this summer are generally throwing curve balls at CFSM. Some are labeled with repair status: "Not repaired" which is not possible. Today with CFSM 1.4.1.4 it even told me that they were MAX5 but they have 3 arrangements (as verified in-game): Ex: L.A.Guns-ElectricGypsy-DreddFoxx-v2.1(RM)-RS2014PC-RR-DD-LRBV-Estd-ACESHIGH_p.max.psarc Metallica-LastCaressGreenHell-dreddfoxx-v.2.1(RM)-RS2014PC-RR-DD-Lead,Rhythm,Bass,Vocals-Estd-ACESHIGH_p.max.psarc Queen-NeedYourLovingTonight-dreddfoxx.-v.2.1(RM)-RS2014PC-RR-DD-Lead,Rhythm,Bass,Vocals-Estd-ACESHIGH_p.max.psarc
  7. Hi, I am so pleased with the CFSM tool and it's updates than now fix tones issues that last year the CFSM classified as corrupt and no longer do! Near the end of Remastering my 3000+ CDLC suddenly CFSM (latest beta version) died on my PC. It seems to kill the batch remastering process when it encountered dreddfoxx's Alice Cooper - Halo of flies . I reboot my PC to clear up any issues but once I reboot it still gives me the following debug info: [2018-01-24 08:56:26]: + <WARNING> 'D3DX9_42.dll' file validation is disabled ... I do have the latest nightly build toolkit installed though the debug messaging seems to reference v2.8.4.1-5f9a8079 BETA .....?!? My antivirus and firewall is off I used the default installation directory for RS Any advice? Edit: Oh yes, somewhere along the way I got this dialog box. I just got it again trying to install Toolkit and CFSM on another Windows 10 PC, Core i5. Appreciate any help! Edit 2: Darn, same dialog box as in Edit 1, when I try to install on my laptop (ASUS UX303UB), also with Windows 10, Core i7 6500U, 2.5GHz, 12GB of RAM. An old version of CFSM did run properly though. Didn't pay attention to which version as it uninstalled but it was from after May 2017 when I purchased the laptop. I think the latest beta CFSM is solid because it remastered over 2500 CDLC with no unexpected behaviour. I'm stuck. Edit 3: The Latest "Release" 1.4.1.4 seems to work (just tried my laptop), as it parsed through all my /dlc contents (containing just ODLC).
  8. Thanks @@firekorn, Excellent idea! Now if only Wikipedia hosted my Tech Notes Tutorial images ... :) So I added all the album art for the Iron Maiden albums. Then I decided to add all the solo album covers for Bruce and Blaze but somehow pressing Post erased all my solo album cover additions so I guess it's gonna stay as is ... :) Thanks again!
  9. Thank-you @@pomaranc for all your hard work!! Thanks for completing the Discography in massive style. Sorry for taking 6 months to update this page. Been a busy year... OK ladies and gents, now that this awesome feat is complete..... NEXT PHASE Now that we have a collection, let's focus on making the collection as high fidelity as humanly possible! When you play a song from this collection that could stand improving, please start by PM'ing the author with detailed and precise (including timestamps or at least times +/- 5 sec of each unique issue) recommended improvements and if the user is inactive then consider adopting or making an improved version. I wish to avoid squabbling so I prefer not to disparage contributors' work in public that would embarrass him or her, but as I haven't had the time to try all the CDLC here, may I recommend either you PM me when you stumble upon a significantly unbecoming Maiden CDLC. I would then perhaps add an innocuous asterisk beside a version that was reported as needing improving. I would cancel out the asterisk if I got conflicting reports. No offence to those that it affects. We all had to start somewhere in our learning curve and we appreciate your effort! Now we want this collection to be the world-wide authority on mastering the mighty Maiden! By the way all those darn cryptic images replacing the album covers beside each album name in the OP, is due to greedy Photobucket.com picture hosting service that now charge exorbitant amounts to allow what they call 3rd party hosting (i.e. hosting pics uploaded to their site for the viewing pleasure on this or other sites). I have thousands of pictures I uploaded to their service and linked to on this site and it would take me hundreds of hours to update all links to a new service. One day I will clean up the OP, sorry for the unsightliness. Cheers!
  10. Boy these are some extraordinary scores. Nice job guys! Every time I chime in here you guys are better and better! I guess the CS is proven to be a great place to improve. I love how the first scores posted are like 99% and 100%. LOL Cheers all!
  11. I am not familiar with the coding in the toolkit and manipulation of the SNG files, but I believe if you set chordify status to the initial chord in your example of this post you just posted above then you should get what you want? No? I sort show this in my Example 6 on page 48 of 53 of my Microsoft Word file of the Chordify tutorial rough draft. I found your post on GitHub, but I'm afraid this is beyond my understanding though from reading it I think I understand what you mean. I will of course test all of this later on but for now I'll have to limit myself to monitoring this thread. I wonder if what you've found in the coding (you mention masks which I don't know what this is) is something that forced us in the past to make a workaround when we tested and implemented chordify.... Good luck.
  12. I would need time to think this through, which I sadly don't have at the moment but in case it helps, I can share my rough draft of the Chordify tutorial. Pages 1-17 are rather complete, Page 39 to 48 has examples which I need to polish and everything between page 17 and 39 is really rough (like a list of things for me not to forget to incorporate somewhere logical, but quite unpolished). It's a long tutorial but it's the images that make it long. It's can more or less be seen as a sequel to the Tech Notes Tutorial because chordify can make heavy use of tech notes. CHORDIFY TUTORIAL ROUGH DRAFT (Version 0.2, dated May 29, 2016) Please note that some of the images in the tutorial with cross-shaped gems (overlapping chord notes gems and rotating single note gems) are no longer issues per the help of chlipouni whose proposal is described in the link in the next sentence. I hadn't had a chance to update my tutorial with the improved imagery. The latter part of the preliminary testing was documented here. The earlier work is documented in post #1574 of this thread on Page 79.... though damn Photobucket removed all my images and are asking for hundreds of dollars to restore them.... :sob: .... I do have my work backed up locally. But reading this would be overkill for now. I would simply look at the beginning of the tutorial and check if this is or is not related to your question. Most of your examples were of a chord followed by a crazy (partially overlapping) single note so that is not really pertinent to chordify. Chordify is more about a chord with some notes of that chord doing different things than when the chord was initially strummed. I brought up chordify because one of your examples, the first one, the D5 power chord ending in a slide on the A string started with a chord. I'd have to think it through but if linkNext were to be set to 1 necessarily on both the Chordnote tag and the chordtime tag it might be like ODLC but perhaps not fully necessary, let alone probably break the non-standard but welcome EoF feature of chordify. Chordify is a workaround from RS limitations that all in-game chord notes in a chord MUST sustain identically despite real guitar playing not being constrained by this limitation as per examples in Question 1 of my tutorial and Firekorn's example (which forms the baseline example throughout my tutorial) of Tenacious D - The Metal, which sounds quite cool on the chordified riff. I cannot say for sure without more thought if your proposal would be essential and/or possibly break stuff, but I felt I at least needed to chime in to give additional food for thought. Certainly, as can be seen from the logic tree I paste below chordify logic would break with the common linkNext's proposal. Perhaps if you confirm the importance of the linkNext commonality between chordNote and Chordtime XML tags, by means of back-to-back in-game comparisons, EoF can apply your proposal only for non-chordified chords. I did do extensive testing at the time, so I am a bit skeptical that the commonality is necessary but I forget and will explore in the coming months. Find below the latest logic tree with which EoF implements Chordfiy. Note how countless testing showed we needed to have differing values for each of the linkNexts in chordNote and chordTime in some specific cases. We don't believe we are breaking the game doing it this way - I verified we do not break the game or crash it on all the examples I tried. Perhaps you will find one... http://customsforge.com/topic/30267-chordify-testing/page-3 --> Post 58 IF (chordify AND (OPEN NOTES CONTAIN ho OR po OR fret hand mute OR harmonic OR pinch harmonic OR tap OR slap or pluck))THEN use chlipouni method PLUS chordtime LinkNext = 1 chordNote LinkNext = 1 ELSEIF (chordify AND (OPEN NOTES CONTAIN accent))THEN use chlipouni method PLUS chordtime LinkNext = 0 chordNote LinkNext = 1 ELSEIF (chordify AND (ONLY FRETTED NOTES CONTAIN ho OR po OR fret hand mute OR harmonic OR pinch harmonic OR tap OR slap or pluck OR accent))THEN use chlipouni method PLUS chordtime LinkNext = 0 chordNote LinkNext = 1 ELSEIF (Chordify AND (no technique OR vibrato OR bends that aren't pre-bends OR pitched slides OR unpitched slides OR tremolo OR arpgeggio))THEN use chlipouni method PLUS chordtime LinkNext = 1 chordNote LinkNext = 1 ELSEIF (Chordify AND (pre-bends)THEN chordtime LinkNext = 0 chordNote LinkNext = 1 (can't bend an open note so moot) high density = 1 ENDIF Sorry for my slow progress!! Having a 2nd baby is certainly not 2x the work of having one baby.... as I am learning.... it is >>> 2x. I will monitor your responses and try to chime in when I can.
  13. I am coming in cold here but I think I agree with @@raynebc. I am trying to recall if making both of your Example 1 export identically would break the chordify feature.... I think it is important to differentiate linknext on a chord versus just a note of a chord. I still have writing the chordify tutorial on my ToDo list but life got terribly busy for me in the last year so i’ve Been scarce. I will not be able to test anything now but I will retain your example for extensive testing when I resume work on this over the winter. Cheers and sorry for not being of great help. But this looks like something I need to look at.
  14. Hi Smells. Easy workaround. Place ghost note where you intend handshape to end. Create handshake marking. Optionally remove ghost note. IPhone requires me pressing somewhere in the vicinity of the thanks button to show edit label... that's why I am thanking you .... ?
  15. I actually like the way DDC categorizes notes and I tend to remove levels from the dedault ramp-up since I find much music has a pattern such that if you remove/add next level notes (eighths to sixteenths, for example) in one go the song becomes easy to play and what the user plays sounds natural. I actually find it hard on the user to tell him/her to play a16th note here but not there in the same measure. For the ear to hear and play a note in a measure and then purposely hear and ignore another note in the same measure, to me, feels unnatural and ironically feels harder to play. I never thought of starting a section other than on a beat. I'd be curious to see which ODLC does this, to see why it is necessary. Maybe sporadic tone changes in a measure in crazy groups like SoaD... :)... I recall Firekorn writing something earlier about this, I think, I read back to earlier posts to possibly answer my question. I did notice too some interesting ODLC ramping behaviour of a single note becoming a power chord (G5) becoming a full chord (ex G Major chord).
  16. Hi all, Congratulations on Week 200! Thanks to all the members to set this up! I have a two month old so my time just got more scarce but I do fantasize of a time when I could participate here every week. I love that you are all so hard core. It's also reassuring that you'll all be around when I make my way back. Cheers!
  17. Holy crap, Photobucket no longer allows 3rd party hosting (putting photobucket links on this web site) with the free Photobucket membership. When I tried to upgrade the upgrade costs $399. Are they insane??? I will need time to migrate everything. Any suggestions anybody for a more enlightened, stable and more permanent place for hosting the pics in this tutorial?
  18. Hmm never encountered that. I'll see as soon as I can how I can fix that but please bear in mind that I'm quite tied up lately and it may take some time. In the meantime time the top of the post contains a PDF version of the tutorial. Cheers and thanks for trying to chart fun solos :)
  19. Thanks raynebc!!! Great hotfix!! I had a go at testing a bunch of different authorings all in one EoF project and if you want to play around with the new compare and one-way-compare features, here is a notes.eof EoF project that puts this feature through a series of tests. The new features work like a charm!
  20. Well here is that bass playthrough, though 2% lower than my best. And I know I have terrible form. Wrist totally bent. Nothing to be proud about for showcasing, but, I want to have as much content for the video compilation I want to send to Blaze. Cheers! Thanks to all for being so welcoming. I cannot keep pace and currently participate to the CS regularly for now, but probably by the end of the summer, I should be back much more regularly. For now I have a bunch of other Rocksmith work to do to test stuff for raynebc, for Alex 360, make a Tech Notes Sequel caslled "Chordify tutorial, and then this summer my 2nd child will be born and I administer a pretty serious soccer league, so it is really difficult to be a regular. I hope you guys have a blast and I'll see you all soon! As I am even less a bassist than a guitarist, please do offer things that stand out as the first candidates for me to correct when playing a bass. I feel the tension everywhere, so my form has got to be very, very poor. :)
  21. It worked for me by turning off Audio Exclusivity in RS2014 Remastered. Admittedly that solution is not workingon my my 2nd (inferior) PC. Bandicam can record anything but RS (I didn't try other games) But this computer is hooked up via HDMI to my Home Theatre sound system. OBS is not working either. 1 year ago, last time i tried OBS, it used to work. Edit: Waited a few hours, changed nothing, and the 2nd computer works too. I guess it was just PMS...
  22. A few more tries.... need to riff repeat that 6-fret section if I hope to get 90% http://i920.photobucket.com/albums/ad41/Berneer/CustomsForge%20Championship/Week%20174%20-%20Ending%2025Feb2017/Blaze%20-%20Bass%20-%20Attempt%208%20with%20real%20bass_zpskbwv1jdt.png
  23. Yes! After 2 hours of riff-repeating and various speeds, section by section, I've finally beat my Blaze emulated guitar playthough score of 83% with a REAL bass score that exceeds it. Those galloping triplets are hard to get perfect but the game is forgiving. Difficult to increase speed on triplets. Any tips? I might actually get a bass picture-in-picture playthough later to show case my ultra noobishness on real bass. Least I could do if I am asking people to submit playthroughs. :) http://i920.photobucket.com/albums/ad41/Berneer/CustomsForge%20Championship/Week%20174%20-%20Ending%2025Feb2017/Blaze%20-%20Bass%20-%20Attempt%205%20with%20real%20bass_zpsydzuhvmb.png
  24. How do you guys mute a string on a real bass right after you've played it. Without muting it, it doesn't sound clean and percussive Example, that 6-fret wide bass handshape, do you play with index and middle finger or do you play it like finger-style, with 4 fingers on 4 strings muffling the sound right after it is struck. I find the A11 note particularly annoying as it keeps ringing out over the other subsequent notes. Thanks for the noob help and helping me to better appreciate my bass 1-week rental.
  25. How do you guys play bass sitting down? My fret hand elbow is as high as my head and my wrist hurts. Is it safe to say bass players MUST stand? At leas tthe larger strings don't dig into the skin as much as the unwound strings of a guitar. Greater noob longevity... :)
