  1. Probably the leads track of Pour Some Sugar On Me. Can't bloody well get it past 107%.
  2. This is how I deal with it, too. Though while people are talking about songs that are off-pitch, I'll throw AC/DC's It's A Long Way To The Top in. The guitars and bass are tuned to be in pitch with Bon Scott's bagpipes. And Satchel did something similar when I saw Steel panther play at the Corn Exchange in Edinburgh, and they had a piper on stage for Community Property.
  3. *clears throat* They're going home, they're going home They're going England's going home And so on.
  4. You're from Scotland? Sheesh. At least your folks never made you wear a dress. :-P Apples and oranges. If you want to make that tired old gag, at least get it right and call it a skirt.
  5. Well, the fact is I pretty much never spend time listening to music in the house. So vinyls and CDs are impractical. Plus, if ridiculous audiophiles are to be believed, I'd need to spend twice as much on headphones as I did on my mp3 player to be able to hear even a lossless format, and, well... fuck that. Also, I'm not as pretentious as the beardy twat in that video.
  6. Depends what you mean. I suspect that Rocksmith is using some kind of noise gate, which might have something to do with it.
  7. You might be surprised, they might actually talk about Brazil and Croat............... Who am I kidding. Yep, they'll be talking about Rooney's world cup haircut, Woy's favorite colour (and fave ice-cream) and whether or not Gerrard has any studs on his boots (due to his propensity to slip a lot). If I still drank, it would be a good opportunity to play 1966.
  8. You may find you need a string tree for the B and high E strings. TBH, it looks better than the Telecrapster I built a few years back.
  9. Well, it's accurate as far as it goes. SoundScan collects infiormation on music sales in the US and Canada, and that's used to generate the Billboard 100 lists and stuff like that. But it's data only goes back as far as 1991, and Thriller was released more than 8 years earlier, with sales estimated at 29 million copies in the US. I admit, it's kind of nitpicky, since sales at that level are pretty damn special. And Thriller is that bit more special. Kind of like Nadal and Federer in tennis, I guess.
  10. 20W will fill any room in a normal house. It won't be enough if you live in a barn, or if your dad is Prince Charles. Otherwise, it'll do.
  11. They're still lagging about 13,000,000 behind Thriller, but whatever.
  12. Do you have this one? No, but it's the one I prefer to use when trying out guitars in shops. No, low power is good for a practice amp. The speakers for bigger amps are designed to give best response when you're pushing most of the amp's power through the; at low volumes, the sound you get tends to be dull and, for want of a better term, farty. If you're just playing in your bedroom, 20W and an 8" speaker will make one hell of a racket - particularly if you angle it upwards, so the sound is projected into the room, rather than muffled by the carpet.
  13. TBH, I'd steer you more towards something like the Roland Cube series. I've never been too impressed with the low power solid-state Marshalls(I have one that's about 10 years old or so, and never use it anymore), but YMMV. http://www.roland.com/products/en/CUBE-20GX/
  14. New addition to the family... http://i60.tinypic.com/nqwuj9.jpg Jackson SL2Q in trans red.
  15. Slash in December now. Will be 4th time(as Slash feat. Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators), 7th if you're including VR.
  16. Of course there's an excuse. And the excuse is "people will still buy it anyway".
  17. Depending on what's coming up next in the song, you could, as an alternative, play those 2 notes as open E and on the 7th fret of the A string. But that might not be the ideal hand position for what else is going on.
  18. Well, as a Scot, I don't really care that much. Though I expect by the time the first match is done(Brazil v Croatia, IIRC), I'll want England to do badly for no reason other than to spite the BBC's commentary team, who won't have been talking about the game. At kick-off, they'll mention that the 4th official's father's brother's nephew's uncle's cousin's former room-mate once went on a business trip to London for a weekend, and they'll spend the rest of the game talking about the EPL.
  19. On the Sunday, you need to find time to see Gloryhammer.
  20. Depends on the recording. For example, Motorhead's No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith is a fairly sloppy affair. For almost all the tracks, I'd probably prefer, for DLC, studio arrangements. It would, however, be interesting at least to see the version of Ace Of Spades that Motorhead played on No Sleep At All(or the one used on their appearance on The Young Ones), with Wurzel and Phil Campbell on guitar. Which raises another issue with live tracks - particularly with bands that have had lineup changes, which one do you use? One other thing that's worth mentioning is that many album tracks fade out at the end, something which I've personally never seen a band do live. As an example, the GnR song Nightrain - album version fades out in an outro solo, whereas live, the solo finishes, and an end chorus played. I think people should chart the version they prefer. If other people would choose differently, then we should pull our fingers out and get charting ourselves.
  21. And what about Murray/Smith/Gers from Maiden? It would be quite a trick to transcribe a 3-part guitar harmony into just rhythm and lead.
  22. The game starts them at an estimated difficulty. Just start the song, go into RR, hit 0 until the whole song is selected, then reduce difficulty to a level you're comfortable with.
  23. Someone'll name it, then we'll all be like "why the hell didn't I get that"? EDIT: Paschendale by Iron Maiden. I knew I knew it.
