  1. Check out those beauties at http://www.esh-bass.com I got myself a Stinger II two years ago and I wouldnt wanna miss it. Plays like a charm, definately on par with my Warwick, plus its got a Piezo Pickup which can be switched to add to the magnetics AND it has a second output for the Piezo only. Before i ordered it my dealer had a seller of Esh come by and bring an assortment of their basses, so I was able to play seven of their models at the store. I was totally blown away by the Poseidon, and I would have bought it right away if i wasnt looking for a 4-String (Poseidon is 5-String only).
  2. Thought the bass_22 would be the bonus arrangement. I can have distortion on the normal bass track, only a matter of tone.
  3. Nice work, but shouldnt we use REAL_BASS instead of REAL_BASS_22 ? In your file summary screenshot you have the 22 allthough in the tut youre using the "normal" one.
  4. Either a ~65ish Fender Bassman 135 head with matching 4x12 cabinet, or a Line6 Pod x3 with a TA1050 Poweramp and two custom cabinets (2x12" with horn and 2x10" with horn, 400W each). For guitar i use the pod with the fenders normal section and a 300W Marshall cabinet. I really got lucky with the bassman. Got it for 600 DM back in 1996. 2 years later i stumbled across the matching cab for another 300 DM.
  5. Could be the Pickups position. If its in a dead spot for 12th fret up theres not much you can do.
  6. Just thought id share my method on how to use Line 6's POD X3 and up to create virtual bi amping. What you need: -2 instrument cables -active d.i. Box -patch cable jack to xlr -either an instrument with two output jacks or a y-adapter Now connect the instrument cables to your instrument (you may need the y adapter to split the signal - i use my stinger II which has two outputs). The first cable goes directly into the pods input jack. The second into the di box, from where you connect the jack-xlr to the pods microphone xlr input. Now set the input source for tone 2 to xlr on the pod and make sure to use the input contoller of the mic input to get a non distorted signal (mute tone 1 therefore). You can now model your two independent sounds. If the pod is connected to a daw via usb you can record the two sounds seperately and blend them to your liking in the daw. Else just pan the tones hard left and right and connect the pods two outputs to two channels of a mixer or amp. Usability is somewhat a niche, as you only benefit if your instrument has two outputs or you pack an external effect pedal into one of the signal chains (equalizer, compressor...) before it goes into the POD.
  7. Well, as an experienced bass player (23 years of playing) i have to mention that a) sone of the songs, and that even includes some originals and official dlc's, have somewhat incomplete bass lines. You can hear that where the notes in RS tell you to play for example the root note of a chord for a whole measure, the bass in the backing track sometomes actually moves - sometimes even a lot. That may just be a low fifth or an octave, but sometimes whole runs are simply not transscribed. The reason is imho that the bass lines in the guitar pro files (which i also use) are not correctly made, so no offense to our cdlc creators. b) a lot depends on the songs you choose to play. If you're mainly into mainstream stuff the bass is quite often pretty much straight root notes in a simple rythm. Sometimes there are some ear friendly runs, but even then its kept rather simple. c) picking speed on the bass is most of the time a lot slower than on the guitar d) there are almost no chords in the bass lines e) to quote my bass teacher: "you earn your money with the first fife frets". A lot of arrangements in RS can be rearranged on the fly to be played exactly there. Why jump to the tenth fret on the e string when you can play an open d string instead if not for a slide? f) much better fretboard overview on the bass than on a guitar g) a bassists job isnt to shine or pose or show off. It's carrying the music in conjunction with the drummer. That said, you might wanna try some arrangements from chili peppers or early, buton aera Metallica if you want a challange on the bass. There are others, but i'm at work and dont have access to the song list of RS.
  8. This has nothing to do with your actual problem, but i noticed from your picture that your strings are not properly wired around the mechanics. On your pic the loose ends of the strings are not secured. You can secure them by either putting the loose ends in the holes in the center of the mechanics prior to wiring them around the mechanic (as seen in luminairs pic) or, as you wire them around the mechanic, wire the first coil over the loose end and continue wiring the rest below the loose end in a nice spiral. Either way, you should have at least two full coils wired around each mechanic to ensure the strings wont loosen themselves.
