  1. They can't get rid of that branding for legal reason. They already said that they made it as small as legally possible on the logo for the remastered, going further or getting rid of it entirely would just put them in a legal mess. Ah, I didn't know that! That's a shame, but such is life.
  2. I think, if anything, all they would need is another big update, much like the transition from 2014 to Remastered. Remove the 2014 branding, but continue to support the current product through bigger changes and bug fixes, negating the cost of developing an entire new product. They know about the community and what we've done for the game, that the twitch streamers and what have you rely on ODLC and CDLC, and it wouldn't make a whole lot of sense to put out an entire new game just yet. I don't see RS going anywhere, any time soon and that can only be a good thing.
  3. Cheers for the input, folks, I'll have a mess around
  4. Thanks buddy, I'll see what I can figure out. I had a wee read in the Rocksmith Championships thread and it's most likely the guage of my strings. Ah well, such is life
  5. Hey guys, apologies if this is the wrong place to post this. I've noticed an issue since switching back to playing Bass for the first time in years, and the first time with Rocksmith. Playing along on Standard or Drop D tuning is fine, but as soon as I go lower than that, Eb/DdropC etc, rocksmith struggles, or sometimes simply refuses to pick up certain notes. It's almost completely limited to the 'E' string and is particularly bad when played open, or along the first 3 frets. The problem does not persist when using guitar rig or any non rocksmith software, so I'm a little confused.
  6. Thanks, Papillon, I appreciate you taking the time to respond. I'm taking all of the advice I'm getting on board, that's for sure. I think the one thing I've learned is that I simply enjoy bass more than I enjoy guitar. Just annoyed that it took me years of trying to play something else to realise that!
  7. At the end of the day, if we get enjoyment out of it, then who cares, eh? For me, with the issues of wrist pain and a general lack of progress, I simply wasn't getting that enjoyment out of the guitar, then, thankfully, last Saturday night one of my strings snapped. Dismayed, knowing that the shops weren't open yesterday, I decided to use Rocksmith and my guitar to emulate bass, and everything that I'd been missing from the enjoyment came flooding back to me. I've spent at least 2 hours every day since playing bass on the guitar and then today I went to the local pawn shop and picked up a cheap, £40 bass. And it's just great. My next thing, as you mentioned, will be to get myself a webcam and see if I can record myself, hopefully improve my technique
  8. I can definitely understand that, yeah. I think the problem for me was that I had it in my head that I needed to learn guitar, that somehow I'd be more creative and then I'd suddenly be this great guitarist, doing all this really cool stuff, and then I'd join a band and the rest would be history... And then I realised that I actually preferred both learning and practicing Bass and got really annoyed with myself because I'd completely neglected it for about 8 years. If I'd spent those 8 years playing and learning bass like I should've, who knows how good I could be now.
  9. After all of this, I decided 'fuck it', and I've since gone back to my first love: Bass. No wrist pain, no stiffness and it's all coming back to me nice and easy. I wish Rocksmith had been around when I'd first started playing bass.
  10. Thanks for this reply. It's DeQuervaine's that the doctor thought I might have when I described the pain and the issue to him and I have been given two separate courses of steroids to try and fix the issue, neither of which has worked. They wont give me another, the only other option is surgery, which is a route I'd rather not go down. So now, it's trying to rule out every other possibility of my playing that could be causing it. I think you're fairly accurate there, buddy. I'm finding myself stuck in a hard place, because I listen to a lot of modern, fairly nice punk rock, which I can never find custom tracks of, and my other passion is metal, which is almost entirely out of the reaches of a newbie like myself. I think because of that, I push myself to be able to play stuff that I can't actually play, and bugger my wrist up in the process. Warm up stretching is definitely something I need to do more of too
  11. Thanks buddy, I appreciate you taking the time to answer. I think from now on, I'm going to play most things on 50% or so difficulty, try to take the pressure off a bit. That'll be my first change. I'll very possibly take my guitar(s) to get a setup done this month if I have the spare cash, see how that impacts things too. Thanks again
  12. Hey guys. Long time no speak! I've been a member here since the very first day, coming over from the old place to here as soon as it was announced. For various reasons, I've been gone for the best part of two years, but I'd like to become more active again. Anyway, I'm here for some advice. I've been playing the guitar on and off for years now, never getting very far, putting it down for months, picking it back up and starting from scratch. The cycle continues. I'm now giving it one more, possibly final shot, at getting decent and I've encountered some trouble. When I play, my left hand, or more specifically the wrist, starts to hurt. It's a dull ache initially, before becoming a shooting pain. I thought it might be tendonitis, so I went to the doctors and got some injections, but it didn't help. I'm trying to think of various things that could be hindering me, or things that could help and I'm wondering if you guys and girls could possibly help me out? I've thought about a couple of things, so I'll add them here in a list to get some feedback. 1)I practice in front of the pc on a standard office style chair, could changing my seating help? 2) I'm overweight and have a bit of a beer gut, could that lead to my arm being in an awkward position? 3) I've never practiced standing up, could that be a more natural position? 4) I'm not very good, but never use dynamic difficulty. If i'm trying to play along to quick song, even poorly, is that putting too much pressure on my wrist? 5) I can play picking parts fine, but when it comes to chords, particularly powerchords, that's when the pain comes. 6) I've never had my guitar 'set up/serviced', could the action or anything like that be an issue? Sorry for the long post, but this is becoming quite depressing in all honesty. The only hobby I've ever really wanted to pursue and it seems like something is holding me back, but I can't figure out what
  13. EDIT: Since upgrading to Remastered, it's showing but wont play. Just crashes when it gets to the amps where the fretboard should display FINAL EDIT: Would've helped if I'd looked for the dll file at the top of the page!
  14. Hi guys, I'm looking for some advice. In the name of transparency, I'm going to be completely up front about this issue. I have two copies of Rocksmith 2014 - One legitimate steam copy, one illegally obtained pirate copy. I understand that piracy is bad, but please don't discount the rest of this topic. (I got the legit copy cheap, naively thinking that I could get a cheap realtone cable or circumvent it somehow, however I now have a real tone cable, too) As previously mentioned, I've two copies. Both with identical DLC folders. I want to transfer over to the legitimate rocksmith for obvious reasons, as well as the benefits of steam. However, I'm having problems with cdlc on my steam version. It seems that the cdlc for any band that has an official dlc pack doesn't work (for example, cdlc of the new blink album doesn't work because they have official dlc). Other cdlc, such as say Ensiferum, works fine. I own the base game (remastered) and cherub rock, but I'm wondering if there's something I'm doing wrong or should change somewhere?
  15. Been away from the site for a good long while, come back to find this. You guys are awesome!
  16. I'd be inclined to like Holland a little more if Robben wasn't so obvious with his dives. Spoils such a great player, but for some reason he always seems to get away with it. My money is still on Germany for the tournament. Them or Argentina, but I think the Germans will just about edge it
  17. Any time, friend. That's what this place is for!
  18. First of all, don't apologise. It's all about learning :) The short answer is, you wouldn't play it. Look closely though. That 0-2-3-2 note part where it shows you the D symbol...does that look familiar? It should, because those 4 notes there are your D chord! It's basically a finger placement guide. So, instead of having to quickly move your fingers from 0 to 2 to 3 etc, if you just make a d chord shape, your fingers will already be in the right place. You'll see this sort of thing shown quite a lot during playtime on Rocksmith too. Hope this clears it up a little :)
  19. Hey guys. I'm back! Apologies first and foremost, as everything has been a bit hectic here. I've been dealing with some personal stuff as well as having a whole load of other things going on, so I've just not had any time recently. I'm about to pick up my guitar for the first time in about 3 weeks, which is nice and hopefully the videos will be coming back thick and fast from now on. I'm not sure it'll be one every day, as I reckon that will very quickly lead to repetition and a lack of content to cover, but it'll certainly be a couple each week anyway. So, onto the video. I received a pm on here a wee while ago from another member, recommending a particular set of youtube videos and it just so happened that I've stumbled across that particular guy whilst finding a video to post on here, so kudos. Todays video is about understanding and applying exotic scales and covers the Egyptian scale in particular. I've always been interested in exotic sounding guitar parts and have found myself listening to a lot of eastern metal recently (Orphaned Land, Kryptos, Cthonic etc) and really like how they can incorporate their particular geographical sounds into their music. So here it is
  20. nice dude im a fuckin huge alestorm fan I could rub it in a little more by telling you that I went to school with Chris Bowes and he once sent me a christmas card. It was a picture of a cat and it just said "I love cats".
  21. I think Germany or Brazil really have to be considered the favourites and my money would be on Germany outright. Spain, and Argentina could well be the other two semi finalists. Belgium, Uruguay or Colombia could be interesting outside bets. Really quite excited for this coming around, more so than I have been for the past 2 anyway
  22. Hey buddy. Definitely going to continue. Will have a video up within the next few days, might even try and get one up tonight. My break has lasted a bit longer than I anticipated, but there's been a lot going on recently.
  23. Hey folks. Just wanted to take a few moments to let you guys know that there will be no videos today and possibly for a couple to go. Mainly, life gets in the way sometimes and I'm working a lot at the moment, which gives me a little less time to watch as many videos as I'd like and to then get them on here for you guys. Secondly, it's nice to take a break sometime and it'd be good to let people digest the videos that we have already, instead of rushing into new things every day. So don't worry, I'm not stopping and there'll be a video again by the end of the week, if not more, but let's just enjoy what we have for now :)
  24. When I put on Rocksmith I generally just work my way from the top of the list to the bottom (sorted by tuning), playing any song that interests me. This is definitely a horrible way of learning, but it's fun :p
  25. Not sure if it's been mentioned, but there's plenty of tab around for Powerglove, who've done guitar versions of the Pokemon theme, Inspector Gadget and many more video game themes (mortal kombat, tetris etc)
