  1. As proves go, this is not very convincing. Your score was from Sunday... on the first day, while my score was from the last final day. Diceslinger even mentioned, that he didn't have much time this week... so no, not very good "proves". The main reason for me to move up, is to open the contest a bit more in the intermediate group. Yes, I improved a lot and that is all very fine. But as the scores show, I'm not going to win (or be close) for some time. And that is important to tell my self. I'm learning a lot, and I enjoy all those new songs I get to play every week. I should do my best, but accept, that I'm not (at the moment) actually playing to win. But to be a bit provoking... When are you going to move up? You know... get all those good challenges. As I mentioned before, those arguments you give me, works just as well for you. And the MC-group is still rather small. To be honest, if you practiced as hard as I did this last week, you would be close to wining the Masterclass. Just saying.
  2. I'm not sure what group I'm competing in... Either I'm winning the intermediate (though not by far) or is part of an appendix for the advanced group (and not really in the competition). Never mind. This week has a great song in the advanced class, so I'll probably use some time on that song anyway. Today was mostly play throughs. And the masterclass... that was beyond my abilities (and patience) to play through.
  3. Finally I managed to get the intermediate perfect (still can't get the beginners song perfect): And with the advanced song I was lucky... didn't practice further, just played it through. From here on it's only luck getting me better scores. And then I tried the masterclass... I'm not sure it has a very good "hearing". In the main riff I was just panickly playing something with those notes, but it went on quite long, without ruining the streak.
  4. Another days practice. The beginners song is almost there... why the hell is it so difficult to get right all the way? No improvements on the intermediate. It's a rather difficult one. And finally the advanced song. I'm slowly climbing... Compared to Honey++ this is no way 7,5.
  5. Another days practice. The first levels did not get improved. The advanced song got a better score, but sometimes it comes down to lucky guessing... but more and more qualified guessing. But I've been practicing a lot more than usual, and off cause that is nice and good, but I don't think I can keep that up every week...
  6. I'm actually not making any assumptions about you. Not active or not around... I can't see scores from you, and that's exactly why I can't say anything about your score. The debate here is not so much about where people start but how the ratings end up. My comparison is based on the leaderboard, and the scores people share. But apart from that: Rodman did make 92,25% at Sunday. I can't say if it was the first play through, but he's a bit further at that point (to say at least). So your claim is still not right (about him). Sorry, Rodman, that we are talking about you.
  7. Another days practice. I still think the beginners song is rather difficult, but I've found, that if I play yellow-5 instead of blue-0 it makes more sense (to me). The intermediate is also almost there... needs a little correction here and there, but I got the hang of it. And finally the advanced song. The guessing is getting more and more qualified. Especially the first half, that I can play almost correct... in 90% speed. But 94% is not bad (from 88% yesterday).
  8. And the scores for today... Actually the beginner bonus is from yesterday. It's a rather easy song... difficulty 2 I agree. To day I got a nice score with beginners song, but I think it's a bit above difficulty 3... maybe 4 or even 4,5. It could be because there is problems with the recognition. The River is a nice song. And is challenging for me as well. I'd say level 5. And finally the Dani California. I forgot to take a screenshot but after quite a lot of practice I got the accuracy up to 88%. There is quite a long way... Ther'll be screenshots later on.
  9. I can see, I'm not the only "black sheep" here. Kayteck is in quite the same situation. Though he doesn't make quite the fuss about it. I think the thing, that annoys me the most, is people think I should get more challenges, and It's the right level for me (and so on). All those arguments also holds for the top group in the advanced class. For the exact same reasons the top 5 (or so) should advance from advanced to the masterclass. "To get more challenges". The main difference between me and the top 5(-ish) is, I'm (almost) the only one with the problem, while they are 5(-ish). And I think they've been there for quite a while... ready for challenges. (They do already manage some quite good scores on masterclass). To be fair, I do understand the top group of the advanced class, for they would be in the same situation as me, if they were forced to move up. They wouldn't win in the masterclass, and thus it's much more fun to compete at this level. And because they are a group, they still get to compete with each other. So while I "ruled" the intermediate in the end, so will they rule the advanced class with me (and Kaytech) as an appendix. When it comes to levels: Yes, we are missing an "in between"-level, but I can fully understand that the organizers don't want more complication (and thus work). I respect that. So the solution is rather simple. Since I'm the only one (almost) with this problem, I must "submit" and accept, that I'll either be annoying if I insist in being intermediate or at the bottom of the advanced group for quite some time (and thus somewhat out of the competition in reality for a while). Though I'm also in this "competition" for other reasons. First of all I get to play music, i didn't know existed. Great music I didn't know before (this week is also great, btw). And I do get challenges (not only the music it self). I try to get higher scores, because I post them here, so I compare with my own scores (to know if I should post the same song again). I try to challenge my self harder. Those things will not change. So thank you for this competition. I'm not trying to sound ungrateful!
  10. PS: I deleted most of the quote to not use so much space. But hank you for a great answer. Showing "Just a girl" as the example is not the best. That song was quite overrated. I'm usually around at least 2% after the top-group of the advanced class. I agree, that you (organizers) make quite a big work for everybody around here. I'm very grateful. And I don't think you should put more work in to it. Let's keep it simple. Maybe I should just accept, that I'm "between levels" for now. I can see there is a good competition in advanced level. It's just a bit over my level... and most of you is also making quite good scores in masterclass. Though you (again) can't really compete with the top of masterclass. About the difficulty: My thoughts were to make a more "objective assessment". By looking at the scores for a week (when a new one begins). I can't really tell if a song is difficulty 7 or 8, because I'm out on a limp all ready. I looks crazy and very very difficult. But by doing it afterwards it's neutral and more "as a matter of fact". "Just a girl" had quite a lot of players around the top, while Honey++ did not have many. And a lot gave up on the song. It's not about changing anything doing the competition, just a suggestion to note a reevaluation in the song list, based on the results from a competition.
  11. If you by "landing" mean ending, then no. That is not where you and Rodman ends up. Well I can't say about you, It seems you haven't been here a while. But I can see Rodman ending up around 98-99% every week (along with others), on advanced level, and then around 92% to 95% in masterclass. Scores that are somewhat beyond my capabilities.
  12. Not much (score-wise) progress today... But I've been thinking about this whole leveling problem. On one hand, I've been ruling the intermediate level for some time now. From that point of view I should get to the next level. But when I'm looking at the advanced level, it's clear to me that I can't really compete there. The top of the advanced level is often also above 95% in the masterclass level songs (as well as around 99% in advanced level). While I'm only above 95% in advanced class... now and then. What I'm trying to say is, that either should there be an "in between" level for people like me (and Kayteck (no offence) ) or maybe some of the advanced people should be moving up more readily (The rule of 99,5% should maybe not apply to the top levels of bass). It's nice to win now and then. That's not gonna happen for me any time soon with the advanced level. (Yes, I know, it's just for fun, and that's why I often try the advanced song out). On another note... I've also been thinking about the difficulty score of the songs. Maybe we could talk about the levels after the week is over... or a group of the championship managers (who do such a great job!). If the scores are lower for a song one week, then maybe it's because it was harder than usual. I noticed week 392 advanced Honey++ (Orange Coffee) had barely any competitors and rather low scores. The song was difficult 7... Two weeks before that we had Just a Girl (No doubt) where many of us (even I) had a score of 99%... also difficult 7. Ind hindsight Honey++ might have been quite a harder song than 7... (og Just a Girl was easier). By looking at the scores afterwards it should be possible to asses the level more correct, and thus update the song list. Does it make sense? I'm not English so I'm really straining my vocabulary around this note.
  13. Did some play throughs yesterday, so I'll be sharing some scores before the practices for today... The beginners is actually a bit difficult... While the beginner bonus on the other hand just played it self (more or less): There will be some score attacks today. With the intermediate... it's difficult until you get the hang of it. Then it's okay... this was my second play through: And finally the advanced song... where some people think I should be... There was a lot of guessing...
  14. Thank you, but I'd rather not. When I practice seriously I get some good scores on this level, but so far I don't have a chance on the advanced level. Sometimes I get a good score on advanced, but often I just cry my self to sleep with around 90%... And besides... the intermediate group is rather small... let's not all huddle together in the same group.
  15. Another way is, when you start in "learn a song"-version, then pause the song (as if you would practice a small part). Mark the whole song, and turn up difficulty to 100. And then go back to playthrough.
  16. I've been ill this week, so I never got to practice as much, as I would've liked. Today I couldn't play the beginners song or intermediate any better than last time (actually a bit worse). The advanced song is... well rather advanced... when it comes to the fast part in the middle. With a little focus (and luck) I can play that part in 90% tempo with only around 2 missed notes. When playing through it's just as wrong as what I have posted before... But there is a "bass 2" part! What is the difference? It seems just like the other part, but when I played it through I managed to get 1% better. I don't know if there is any differences, so I don't know if it counts. But here's the score from this bass 2 part:
  17. Back from another day of practice. This time with a Score Attack version of the Homem do... lala. I think it's a bit difficult to get perfect attacks, butthe song as such is no problem. The spirits of teens flow in my veins. Though I played a wrong note in the beginning... Damn. And it's a tough song, my fingers get all used up. The bonus bass part is a bit easier, but at least I get to use my pinky. I don't know if it's part of the competition, but better safe than sorry. And finally I tried more of the intermediate song. It's okay... until that very fast ad difficult part. The play through was a bit better to day, but when I practice I can only get to around 85% speed (in the difficult part). This is still better than yesterday, but I think it's quite a long way from full speed.
  18. Interesting songs for this week. Thank you, Rodman! The beginners song sounds interesting... for everyone else but the bass. I'm not sure how I would define difficulty 1. You have to move your hands here, but it's not a very difficult song. The bars in the top are very misleading! In my first play through I got it. Next time it'll be Score Attack. When it comes to intermediate, there is a little challenge in the main riff, but when you get to it, that's there is. I think 3 is a bit low, thinking about the stamina required and the riff. But it's a great song. I'll be playing that a lot this week. First play through gave me around 98%, and after a little focus on the riff I managed this: And then there are even a bonus bass part. I think it's easier (maybe the before mentioned 3). Are we also competing on this? The advanced song went okay... until hell broke loose (even sounds a bit like the old Doom computer game). I think that parts puts it above level 6! I can play that part at 75% tempo... It's fun, so I'll give it some more practice, but I doubt that I can play it in tempo... like ever.
  19. Almost there... almost there... This week I'm not going to make it perfect. But it's okay. There are a few very difficult parts in the intermediate, and I should practice the last one a bit more, so I can play it every time.
  20. A bit more practice. It gave a minor improvement on the beginners song (that was yesterday): And with two days of focus on those pesky difficult parts of the intermediate, I've come a big step closer to mastering the song. I'll have a few tries more on this song to get it right. I've looked at the jazz song again. And I must say... it's pretty far away from my capabilities. I have a feeling, that there is a very big step from intermediate to the advanced level.
  21. What a strange week for the bass. Beginners were pretty easy... until: WTF?! But with a little thinking... start on blue 4. Everything is in a typical scale (can't remember what) and you don't need to move hand around. After a short practice of this part everything was fine. Of to the intermediate. There will be a bit more practice, but it's possible. Then I tried the next level... that's a bit away from my kind of music. I know it's healthy to try other genres... but jazz... Oh well... I'll have a look later on, but it seems quite difficult... for me at least.
  22. And now I'm through with todays practice. Only a small improvement of the intermediate song... so now I down to one mistake, but annoyingly this time it was early on, where it just didn't recognize my playing. No problems with the more difficult parts... but tomorrow! The bonus song did not have en improvement, but I had another go with the Camel. All those octave jumps... it reminds me of the Shewolf from earlier... where no one wanted to compete. I wonder why the accuracy can be higher than the mastery...? I understand, when I only play a small part of the song over and over, and never plays it through. But this time I played all of it (though one part more than the rest).
  23. I recall a dispute a few weeks ago, and I think the conclusion was, that the score only mattered when the accuracy was 100%. Not that it made any sense when looking at the rules here... but... simply put: first Accuracy, then streak and finally points. So always go with the highest accuracy, @someotherbruce.
  24. Another days practice leading to small steps/leaps forward. But only in my own league. It's a long song to replay after two wrong notes...
