  1. It'll be a while yet before I have chance to post the new week. We'll set the cutoff at 8:00pm EST (3.5 hours from now) and I'll aim to have it posted then.
  2. PSA: I'm still working on the new (theme) week, will probably have it up late afternoon or evening Eastern Time US. I'll try to give a 1-hour warning when the time comes.
  3. Didn't have a ton of time to play the CS songs this week as I was also preparing for the new week. Good songs though. I like a lot of Status Quo stuff but this one is middle of the pack for them: Interesting critique of religious exploitation, and a pretty fun chart: One of the better Clutch charts I've played...as usual for them it does get rather repetitive but the core riffs are solid: Ah Haken, how they have bewitched me. They have so many ballads and chill, enjoyable sections in their songs only to savage you with a random fill out of nowhere. This is literally the easiest Haken chart I've played on bass, for which I'm grateful as it allowed me to enjoy the song more:
  4. @ Hameron @ cacahuate51 I can't pinpoint it to one section but much of the middle of the song was giving me trouble (with recognition). I played around with my tuning several times but didn't see any difference there. I only notice because it's in the Championship, so it may not be worth the time to figure out. I've done some charting myself but have never really understood the nuances of what makes note recognition better aside from using a good tone. It could just be my setup as I was also having recognition issues on MK Ultra...but I play a ton of different CDLC and usually don't have this problem. Anyway, thanks for following up, and Hameron thanks for the chart. I enjoyed playing it numerous times this week
  5. Still getting phantom misses on this...I ultimately used a really loud tone from one of @ GoatHerd 's CDLC and played with a pick and that seemed to help but I still couldn't get the 100% despite playing it perfectly. Great song and no issues with the chart, just note recognition...not sure if this is something you could look at @ Hameron ? The custom tone itself is also really quiet.
  6. First scores for the week: Probably my favorite Morrissey song and my favorite recent Beginner-level bass part in the CS: This was my selection and I love the song and of course Muse in general, but when I played it this time I was seeing substantial recognition issues. I tried tuning tweaks and using a different tone but it didn't help. I'm not having any issues with the slides or even the more difficult parts at the end, but I'm getting a bunch of dropped notes on the long runs of straight 16th notes or whatever: Also had a bit of a recognition issue first time I played this one but it was better on SA. I dig the song. I don't really think either of these two are true Advanced level but this one has more variety so a bit more skill needed: I've had this in my library for a while but finally playing it for the first time here. And man I'm glad I did. A fun and technical little song, really in the sweet spot for me of being just above my current ability to play comfortably but accessible enough that it feels good to play:
  7. Argentina is a beautiful country with a very proud and educated people. It's a real downer that you have gone through so much economic turmoil in recent years. My prayers are with you and I'm glad you are able to play the guitar regularly! You are well loved and respected here.
  8. First tries for the week: Definitely too easy for Intermediate, this is a very easy one: These slides are charted awkwardly, but my second run was much better than my first despite some phantom missed notes: Classic Metallica:
  9. Improvement, though I swear either parts of this are off sync or the bassist is just keeping a very sloppy rhythm: And a solid 311 track:
  10. First tries for the week: Interesting song: This is a little fast with the fret shifts, I'd rate it at least a 5 difficulty. Funny take on the song: One of my least favorite Hendrix tracks...his stuff is always hit or miss for me on bass. I think I can improve significantly on this score though: I LOVE this as one of Flea's more accessible but still challenging tracks:
  11. Good suggestion - thanks @ Mikson ! Original post has been updated with links to pitch shifted versions.
  12. This is wonderful to hear. It's my CDLC, I made it during a time when Black Pumas had almost no CDLC. Now there are more, and they are a lot of fun to play, so I recommend checking them out! Such a good band...
  13. Some notes: I love me some Elton John bass accompaniments...was excited when @ Mikson made his own version of Daniel. I love it. To ME, it's not quite Adv level, but since I was clearly wrong about Shooting Star not being Adv, and since I am so intimately familiar with both songs (this really helps in learning to play it!)... take that with a grain of salt Fire (Live from Studio A) is one of a relatively small number of CDLC that I made back in the early COVID era when I was stuck at home and had time for such things. The Gods Must Be Crazy does not have a proper bass tone, so be prepared to swap to your own tone at the beginning @ cacahuate51 I will assume you do not want to be moved up a level on Lead, based on previous comments. @ hieve (Bass) - please let me know if you do not want to be promoted to Adv

  15. FYI All, the new week will be up late tonight so plenty of time to get your scores in.
  16. Slight improvement...the ending really tripped me up this time. I'm starting to think it's a legit 6 even though the first 3/4 of the song is more Int level.
  17. @ nlbsmglsk It had been a while since I played Shooting Star...just tried it again on my initial run for the week and I think it has enough variation to be a challenge. The ending section even creeps into Adv-level territory a bit. I'd say 5.5 but could see an argument for 6. I didn't expect you to change it at this point, no worries. When I saw it was selected I thought I must have misremembered what I rated it, only realized I rated it a 5 when I checked in the SSL. In any case, it's a classic. My initial scores for the week: Cool song...I had downloaded it but never played it before: This song was inspired by rock stars dying young from alcohol and drug abuse in the early 70s (Morrison, Joplin, Hendrix): I can see how the more hard core players would enjoy this...for me the fun was quite ruined by the runs of arpeggios that no normal human could play:
  18. I just wanna throw out that while I appreciate Shooting Star being selected, I rated it a 5 difficulty in my testing and I don't think it should be used for Adv level. I'm okay with the downgrade of Adv bass to 6-7 but only if the 6s are legitimate.
  19. @ Mikson Really tight race...thought I might have it with this score but you've got the edge! Might be able to try again.
  20. Argh, 1 missed note: Also, the Clutch discussion is interesting. I think A Quick Death in Texas is a solid one but in general I've found that I expect Clutch basslines to be more fun than they actually are. Maybe I need to go back and try the ones recommended here?
