  1. I dunno. This doesn't sound like surf. I'm not getting the Dick Dale, Ventures, Chantays, Astronauts, Lively Ones vibe at all! Not even surf-adjacent.
  2. Ummmmmm - I tried to beat your score last night and couldn't. Did at least 10 more play throughs. So maybe next week? (play where you're comfortable yet challenged, maybe I can get a better score if I practice more - and it's fine if you win)
  3. I tried this a few times and just didn't feel it. Then I watched a recording of a live performance and a play-through. Yep, this is a lot more fun than I thought it was. Doesn't sound right on a Tele playing clean, but it was fun.
  4. Yeah. This one has me concerned. Thinking of tossing heavier strings on one of my guitars and giving it a shot. But I like my Tele and borrowed PRS with 9 - 42's. I could maybe put 10 - 52's on my Gretsch Junior Jet and see if it works. But I should probably consider either a drop pedal or a guitar dedicated to drop tuning. The Junior Jet wouldn't be a good choice - with one P90 and a Bigsby vibrato - it would be all sorts of wrong. Gotta try this one and see. I know some of you guys are using drop pedals for low tuning. Do some of you have a favorite guitar for this style of music?
  5. Naaah, I think I might have that position locked up for a while. I didn't even post Intermediate Lead attempt this week, I can get 93% slowed way down, but hitting less than 80% at regular speed. Those slides and arpeggios got me! Not chiming in on what class you should be in - play where you are comfortable. You just don't need to worry about last place is all.
  6. Got a lot of room for improvement here! Lead - I hate arpeggios! And is that slide guitar? Got a lot of work to do there.
  7. Thanks! It's been like 9 weeks. I crashed August 3rd at 11:30 Eastern. Very happy to be back to close to normal.
  8. Not a full range of motion yet, but I can do most things again. As of last week I was finally able to scratch my nose with my left hand. A guy's got to scratch his nose on occasion!
  9. You can leave me in Int while I sort out getting dexterity back. That might not take so long. I was able to do beginner bass okay, and did Muse at a very slow pace - but it was all around 5th, 7th and 8th frets - so doable. I can't do barre chords yet, but I'll see what next week brings. The orthopedist doc was very cool about playing guitar to rehab my arm. The break is upper arm right at the elbow, so non-weight bearing movement at the elbow is a go!
  10. I broke my left arm the Wednesday before last. Riding my e-bike to the library, tried to avoid traffic. Hit a curb. The bike stopped. I didn't. Anyway, I can manage a D, C and G chord. Maybe A and E. Only cowboy chords. I might be able to do the first few frets on my bass as well. Can you guys put me in Beginner class? I think I'll try beginner bass, rhythm and lead next week. I can't do anything fast, fancy or higher up the fretboard - but might be able to do some simple songs.
