  1. BIIIIIIIIIG EDIT on the first post, please check it out, also, ill be back by the beginning of the next month (work work work work right now xD) haha see ya guys thanks for everything specially to Oloring :).

  2. Thanks a lot Olorin and, so far, i think everyone can add to the list? i have a backup in case someone screws with it, still thanks i really wanna play some guitar but i havent even had time for that haha im losing my callouses! xD

  3. Guys since im very very busy and have little time to dedicate (i havent played RS in a while), i made the googledocs editable by anyone so please go ahead and report over there, ill be coming here every now and then but until the end of this month i might have some more free time, sorry for this, wish me luck xD.

  4. Hi! Since i've started to do some video review on my own, i think it would be great if i help you testing custom.

But i did not really understand how you works and if you have any guide line in testing.

In my opinion, playing the song help see some issue but most of the problem are more easy to see with a video playthrough, so why not just record one time each part and let all the tester look at the video to get their own opinion. it could be much more quicker than wait for everybody to play the custom.

    But i'm just saying :)

All this just to say that you can count on me for testing some CDLC!

Would very much appreciate your support in testing but as your video recording idea, i cant agree with, just imagine someone doing a WIP recording again and again with every little change they make, it would be so tiring, as for guidelines i suggest just keep it simple and relaxed, if you want to test check out our google docs: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AqgJhtukD_LedE85eVg4V3E2TjlZZ0t0RFJnNlZSU1E&usp=sharing%C2%A0

See how we review each CDLC, we focus on commenting specific things on each arrangement, from tone, to volume, to precision over the "tablature" markings, etc, if  you test something PM me your results so i can add the to the google docs, see ya :).

  5. Sorry it took a couple of weeks but between work, family and hospital i didnt had much time, but im a bit free now and managed to test dave´s CDLCs, also i got a piano and im learning how to play it xD haha. Will update the google docs.

  6. Heads up testers !! some tracks here needing some opinion, ....  30 seconds to mars.......The Kill.

Ignore the tones just now please, more interested in the notes and sync ATM, been a bitch of a song to sync from the tab.

feedback in the wip post please thanks in advance.

Ill get on em this weekend, thanks for pointing them out.

  7. Bass is good but lead and rhythm tabs are sooo wierd, lots of silence and... weird xD, i would try to get a guitar pro tab and figure out lead and rhythm properly, i might be wrong but maan did it felt weird playing this, if you feel uncomfortable adding other arrangements than bass i would suggest doing just bass and specifying that you are ok (provided that you are haha) with someone else adding those arrangements in your comments, good luck and keep up the good work :).

  8. The spreadsheet idea is very good, in time we could have a very nice database showing which customs are good. I love playing and downloading customs, so for me I only have to continue doing the things I do, just report them here. Everytime I find a song that stays in my collection I'll just let you guys know. When a custom does not cut it Ill just give the contributor some feedback and hope for the best.

Awesome, please do, just remember to do it via PM so that i notice and add your input in the googledoc :).

Could you post a link, as I am not home yet please and thank you.Sent from my SCH-S720C

Its been in the first post of this topic for a couple of days now.

  9. Maybe a printable check list?TuningToneSyncEtc?Just a idea although printing isn't needed just transfer it to a handheld, thanks for letting me join the team!! Will get started asap tonightSent from my SCH-S720C

You cant see the googledoc in your handheld?

  10. not if only the testers can amend the datasheet, obviously some initial policing would need to take place but it shouldnt be too hard to whittle down a dozen or so reliable testers.

I would volunteer my services but would only have a limited time to do testing ATM. 1 day a week at weekends probably.

Thats the thing, so far anyone can become a tester, everyone hears the guitar tone differently, everyone plays differently with different music tastes, that plus other things will tend to make testing results quite a bit variable (if unreliable) but with enough testing in a single CDLC you can get a general idea specially by reading the tester´s comments on the CDLC DB entry page...

TLDR: i suggest a qualitative approach instead of a quantitative one, easier to weedout trolls or inexperienced testers without denying the chance of becoming better at it.

Also: so far i think im the only one that can change that datasheet, if anyone wants to add something to it you can do it via PM 8-), thats how Olorin is doing it.

  11. I like the idea, so far I have over 200 downloads on 2 songs and only a few replies giving any feedback.

possibly have a testers tick box for Tone, sync and notes etc to simplify identifying a problem.......ie rate 1 to 5 in each box and then generate an average of the testers scores

Sounds pretty much like voting IMHO, so easy for trolls to vote 1 like it happened in SA.

  12. I use the guts of dragons i slay to create bass strings that sound deeper than the halls of Valhalla and the hair of fair maidens i have shagged for my electric guitar strings (altho so far i can only manage 1 single string for a ukulele , i need to get more fit).

But other than that Ernie Ball ;).

  13. OF course Fun and Helping the Community is the Top Priority.

Well then i would say , if no one else want to start a discussion then we will testing around and so on. Else goes to the PM Section.

Before i forget ^^ link doesn't work for me ^^ No access ^^

    link fixed oops xD

  14. 1) Will we have any conditions in relation to the testing?

    2) Will we have any condition for the coordination of the thread?

3)How do we keep the thread overviewing clear?

    1) So far my mentality is to complement anything that you guys do AND catches my attention, thats why i did Buckethead first instead of looking for something in the CDLC i was curious+saw the need to support, once i contributed on your work i went to look for CDLC that cought my attention, im not a fan of Adele but i decided to do her CDLC coz i wanted something different.

Given that i only test on weekends and that many of us have different schedules/responsabilities/time to spare/interests, i would suggest we keep this flexible WHILE trying to complement other´s work (i think FUN+HELPING CDLC COMMUNITY should be our TOP priority), so in my humble opinion i think we should keep it relaxed, now, IF there are others that want to get organized then please do, but i would suggest they form a sub group inside this very topic, let me know if you want me to make a list of a team within our list (i dont think we should have different lists, that would defeat the puorpose of people being able to easily see what is tested).

    2) I see your point and yes, it could get messy to see things here so, up to the point where we finish discussing this i would suggest radio silence, the other alternative would be to have open forum here and if you wish to notify me about your testing so i can update the list you could PM me with the info, which i think its a viable option.

    3) We could keep this same format or we could do this: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AqgJhtukD_LedE85eVg4V3E2TjlZZ0t0RFJnNlZSU1E&usp=sharing

Max. count of testing could be a healthy 3-5 testers on most if not all arrangements (not everyone has both bass and guitar and not everyone is willing to try everything, for now lets take what we can get, no? specially when the opinion is unanimous, in case of divided opinion we could label "CHANGES SUGGESTED" until those are corrected (IF they are at least of the original charter or another charter) then the CDLC could be labeled "FULLY TESTED".

  15. I not really like the idea of "cred" only because someone make a CDLC he is allowed to jugde the other CDLC?

I don't know why but it has for me bitter aftertaste, because it sounds to me we have a community in the community.

But that was exactly the same thing on Smithy. We had a lot of CDLC, a Bunch of Charter and some persons who test and wrote some constructive feedback.

And then a lot of person who only say thx and i want that.

So what we talking about? We Talking about some kind of a Rating system. But make a rating system a good CDLC? Not really, because a good CDLC is the result of a good work on the CDLC and the feedback of the Community.

SO what do we need a Feedback system and not a Rating system.

I agree, while i like the idea of trying to make this happen in the most organized and helpful way, with all due respect to those who vouch for a rating system (i really want to agree with you guys and i think it would be great if it worked in the intended way..IF...) but we have to make this thing a... sort of, selfsustainable thing (i dunno if thats a thing haha), and the most simple it is the higher the chances of it working...

  16. I agree that any kind of rating system will inspire bad will. That's not the point -- the whole point of this is developing a library of highly playable songs.

There are lots of great ideas in this thread, very encouraging. I like the idea of having a software interface to deal with the revisions  -- makes perfect sense. And maybe that means development should be cloud-based?

One thought I had would be a system for marking a CDLC as final -- something like, if enough people (with 'cred') sign off on the CDLC, it gets marked as 'Finalized' column. This way the CDLC is always available for anyone who wants to play it as is.

Signing off would mean taking into account a small checklist for each part:  Tab accuracy, Sync, Sections, DD (if included) accuracy, Tone.

As for the cred idea:  yes, I think if certain "Master Custom Creators" -- people who've already contributed a lot of customs -- sign off on a CDLC, then it can receive a more or less automatic "Finalized" rating.

This is similar to the way it originally worked at Smithy's, except there's no need for separate databases for submitted and approved CDLCs.

I like all this but i think its a bit overcomplicated, just ask for any charter that uploads a CDLC to specify if they are ok with their stuff being corrected, if so it just gets a tag that says so, if someone adds a revised CDLC version it could be in the same CDLC DB entry just specified as an revised version made by someone else, that way anyone can see the original charter did a lot of the work and that it was just tweaked/corrected by someone else both of them getting credit about it... both files up there in case someone wants to compare with the option of the original charter to leave or take down its original CDLC version... no need for voting or anything else i think...

  17. That's a nice idea, but I think the original charter should still have the last word. If someone wants to modify something on the chart, there should be a way to ask before doing so, to be sure everything's fine with the original charter.I would defenetly like getting help for tones, and possibly help from someone who has a good ear for those obscure songs where you never find a 100% accurate tab.Personally though if we're going to make a team (or teams), people should mention their strong point (aka either tabbing, syncing, tones, etc). Mine for example is using GP5 and syncing/making phrases/sections, and such. Not really good with tones :s

    Thus:

Altho now that i think about it, some charters might get upset if we upload a "tweaked" or "corrected" version of their work, so for those of us interesting in making this an open source project we should SPECIFY in the comments section of the uploads that we are ok with other people doing that but please if you do, dont forget to credit everyone involved (in the charting process i mean) by the time you got your hands...

buuuut so far thats just my suggestion... ;)
