  1. Glad you got it working. That's why I asked earlier if you installed everything into the default directory.
  2. Do you have administrator rights on your user account? RSInjector won't run properly unless you do.
  3. You can convert 99% of the customs to Mac versions with no problems whatsoever. I'm a Mac user (Macbook Retina and Mac Mini), and I've only ever had problems with 2 customs not converting properly (Zombie by The Cranberries, and Glycerine by Bush). However, usually if you ask the charter they will convert the file on their end and post a Mac version. Several charters include Mac versions whenever they upload customs right from the start. If you really want to use your PC you can also just buy a cable extender. When I play on my Mac Mini on the big tv my realtone cable isn't long enough either, so I just use an extender. It's essentially just a regular 1/4" mono cable with an input on one end, and an output on the other. The extender plugs into my guitar, and the realtone into the extender. As long as you buy a quality cable, there is no signal degradation or any kind of delay.
  4. Are you running a legitimate version of Steam or is it pirated? And is Rocksmith 2014 legit as well? If so, is Steam installed in the default directory? It should be installed to "~/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Rocksmith2014/". If it's not, RSInjector won't be able to find it. And do you have administrator rights on your user account on your Mac? And lastly, have you enabled third-party apps to run? If not, open "System Preferences", and go to "Security & Privacy", and under "Allow apps downloaded from", choose "Anywhere". (as a side note, I think a separate tutorial for Mac users should be posted. Contrary to what is posted in the current tutorial, it's not as simple as just downloading and running RSInjector)
  5. Not sure if this is the right spot to ask this, but... Does anybody know of a good Bandicam alternative for Mac? It's not available for Mac, and I'd like to make some playthrough videos to share here, as well as to review my own playing so I can better see what areas I need to work on. I don't mind paying for something that's reasonable, so it doesn't have to be free. I'm just looking for something good that is easy and intuitive like Bandicam. Thanks!
  6. Sorry, I know I didn't really explain myself fully.... I know to sync the beat markers, and how to do it. The problem becomes sometimes, after saving and coming back later, everything that I synced is off-sync again. If I do it all in one shot then it seems to be fine. I've also tried to have EoF create the preview file, but it always hangs. Gotta love Mac and the spinning wheel of death... Thanks for the advice though. I appreciate you trying to help, and I'll see about hitting up raynebc for some more help.
  7. I have a few of the same problems as you... The toolkit hangs when trying to convert some of the customs from PC -> Mac. Zombie is one example I can think of off the top of my head. There are a few others, but not that many. Repacking doesn't always work either, as I get a lot of errors that pop up or the Toolkit just hangs. And I also have the problem where a custom song will disappear from the song list inside Rocksmith every once in a while. Usually backing out all the way to the initial load screen (where it says "Press Start") will make them reappear as it forces the game to refresh the list. It will keep your progress, so it seems to be just a matter of the game not properly creating the list of songs. "I Love Rock and Roll" by Joan Jett and "Your Touch" by The Black Keys seem to have it happen the most often for me. But sometimes it's just random. As far as making customs on Mac, MVega is correct.... EoF and the toolkit are still works in progress and don't work very well on Mac (at least for me) yet. I've been struggling to create customs for about 3 weeks now and haven't successfully made one yet. I have a lot of problems getting the music to sync with the tab, creating the preview file (there is a Mac version of that software now, but I think it's still beta), and a ton of problems trying to pack the file in the toolkit. A lot of errors come up, but most of them are hard to read because of the way they are crammed into the pop-up window. Some of them don't even show any text. It's just a blank window. So hopefully you have some better luck than me...
  8. You all seem to be confusing YouTube's personal policy concerning Fair Use for uploading videos with Fair Use Copyright Law. They are two very different things. Customs posted here are not videos. And they are not a person sitting in front of a camera teaching somebody how to play a song. The customs contain the actual song inside the file, which once shared, violates copyright law. Even if you legally purchased the audio track contained in the custom, you do not legally have the right to share it. And no, the customs cannot be considered a cover. You did not re-record the song with you playing and singing. We can argue back and forth all day on this, but in the end, copyright law is pretty clear. Sharing copyrighted material that you do not own is illegal.
  9. These customs don't fall under Fair Use once the audio track is added. At that moment, it's copyright infringement. Guitar tabs are fine under fair use because you can't copyright musical notation but once the song is added you're sharing somebody else's work. I know a lot of you will argue, but ask a lawyer and you'll find out the truth. Or, you could just look up Fair Use Copyright Law. The common excuse here is "for educational purposes", but that only works when used in a classroom setting, which this site is not. It's not a "distance learning centre either", since there is no educational structure here. The fact that the entire song is used in the custom instead of just a portion also voids Fair Use. And the fact that a user here who's posted videos on YouTube hasn't had a problem yet only means that either you're just small potatoes and it's not worth the effort, or they haven't found you yet. But either way, it's only copyright infringement if the original author claims it.... until then, it's all good. http://longzijun.wordpress.com/2012/01/18/music-public-domain-and-copyright/#fair-use
  10. Usually if customs won't show up after launching RS2014 through RSInjector, it's because either the file is bad (maybe missing tones, or other problems, there seem to be lots of reason for them not to work), or the AppID is incorrect. If you purchased Cherub Rock, most of the customs here use that AppID and work fine. Occasionally you have to update the AppID regardless, even if it's already set to Cherub Rock. I don't know why, but I've had to do it before. If you didn't purchase Cherub Rock, and bought something else instead, you have to update the customs to use that AppID. You also have to actually purchase the 1 DLC file, through Steam, that you want to use the AppID for. You can't just pirate it and stick it in the dlc folder. Here's my RSInjector app (in a zip file): https://www.dropbox.com/s/un4dck5eraag4cb/Rocksmith%202014.zip Everything works great for me, so maybe you just have a bad RSInjector app.
