  1. A start. Let's see how much better I can get this.
  2. Second try a little better than the first: Hands tired after just 15 min of solo RR, oy. Really enjoy this pick, has an Iron Maiden vibe to it. That opening beat gets me so psyched up!! :godmode:
  3. Well done on MC last week, that was a crazy FC @@Kosa !! Well played all. Cool to see fierce competition, makes me want to put more effort in to keep up! First shot at MC: Damn, is that ever a solo.
  4. Really exhausted tonight, but did squeak out a few more percents after a few tries.
  5. NEW INT LEAD: Graveyard - Submarine Blues (D Standard) (as played on Week 171)
  6. As a result of the whole rushing them out thing, the difficulty scores might be little less accurate than usual this week. Whether Atwa is a 2 or a 3 depends largely on whether you're talking about difficulty scoring 100% accuracy, or difficulty 100% emulating the sound in the song. That main riff has very specific dynamics that a beginner is going to have a hard time pulling off, but Rocksmith doesn't care at all what dynamics you play it with. (There is also a minor charting error, as both strings should be ringing at the same time... but again, this is not a thing Rocksmith is going to give you misses for.) Insomnium, on the other hand... I am sorry I did this to you, Int Lead players!! :persevere: Winter's Gate I is most definitely not a 5. I'd even call it a high 6 with that verse riff. Replacement Int lead coming up in a sec.
  7. So I'm not going to lie: This week was SUPER rigged. Normally we roll randomly to see who gets a pick each week, but nobody else could and I had to cover... so I put one together quickly out of customs I knew were good offhand so I didn't have to test. Hope people enjoy these Gamut picks. I noticed we had somehow never played any Steven Wilson in the CS, somehow, and so I have riggedly fixed this with the title track of a really breathtaking album. Sometimes higher class players want to play songs that aren't their class, even it's they aren't competing there. :D Like this! Really fun riffs in this one. Nothing too crazy for our Adv players, yet keeps you on your toes.
  8. New week is up! All late scores up until now for this week will be accepted. I loved this week's picks, so here's a few late love plays from me for the last of the great songs that aren't my class:

  10. Uh oh. Was everybody busy today? I'll fix it, hang tight a little longer.
  11. This really resonated with high school Gamut back in 2006, and brings me back to some good times in my life. Thanks for giving this killer song a killer file, @@Rodman! Eh, not a big fan of this one. More of an Advanced pick than an MC, imo. But I guess I can put some effort into learning that solo tomorrow.
  12. Wrecked my hands tonight on an hour of practicing the solo, had no stamina left after all the RR. Maybe if I get a good night's sleep and this cold I've got loosens its grip a bit, I can find a 90 tomorrow morning? At least an 85.
  13. Felt really good after RR and tried to catch Kosa: Big improvement in listenability on this play, even though score doesn't show it! Starting to get comfortable on these riffs at full speed, but still pretty clueless during solo.
  14. Big effort starting to pay off: Sometimes, if I'm lucky, I can 100% that main riff at 95% tempo. A few times in a row, even! Can I find another 8.5% by practicing those slidey bits and the solo? Still got 2 days, I like my chances!
  15. That's exactly how you do it! Welcome to the Championship! :) In terms of practice, I try to "solve" riffs. Often, my instinctive way to play a riff during a sightread uses at least a little bit of unnecessary movement, or non-ideal finger placement. After ruminating on parts played slower, I can usually find "the solution", in terms of energy efficiency.
  16. Throw me them firey licks! Fun little song, really high energy!! That verse always psyches me up. Kind of a messy solo here by me, I'll be back with a 99 in not long. Lots of people saying this is hard for a 9, and it is. But this is no 10. A truly Herculean tune, but achievable by mortals! So much of getting a high score in this one comes down to nailing that insane chorus riff that makes up almost half the notes in the song. I think if I grind it hard I can break 90.

  18. Will take scores for another half hour, new week begins shortly!
  19. First go of the week on my class tune: Can FC the riffy stuff, but that break... Got a lot of cleaning up to do!
  20. Another behind schedule Da Capo week from Gamut! :D When I do Da Capo weeks, I go out of my way to pick especially good songs from the past, so hopefully the fact that these are repeats is made better by the fact that they're good'uns! One of my favourite classic power metal bands. Some very tricksy bits for beginners - particularly the pinch harmonics (which are charted as naturals, but don't be fooled!). Solo's nice and easy though, and even the tricky bits are pretty short and digestible! This chart is a lot less good than I remember it being, but it's just as catchy as last time! ♫~ God I love this song. The melodic chordy bit is one of the most powerful bits of music I've ever heard. This chart's all about consistency and endurance. I like alternative picking the main riff, but some people say I'm crazy for not downpicking it.
  21. Nono, never going to force anyone to buy ODLC! New beginner song will be edited in.

  24. Middle of the week megapost! Got to embarrass myself on stream for this sightread! *hands disintegrate*
  25. It's still in 4/4! It's just got a weird groove with the accents. ONE and two AND three and four and! If you count that to yourself a bunch it'll start to make sense.
