  1. I had an Epiphone Les Paul Special II (£135 guitar) and when I knew and had some money given to me I went looking for better. I spent hours in a guitar store and tried various guitars from fender, gibson etc... also tried a PRS Paul Allandar and found it far too bright sounding, same thing with the Gibson SG, and I wanted a nice 'warm' sounding guitar and ended up with a Gibson Les Paul Studio 2014 and find it a very good buy as it has the exact sound warmth I want, not too muddy just nice and warm with coil taps for when I need them (think thats what they are called. tris
  2. I had the same problem, so I just uploaded to my photobucket account and used the links from there. Just clicked the 'image' icon on the top of the post window and inserted them that way. tris Well that's exactly what I'm doing, but when I add a picture using an external URL (like Imgur), 1) the picture doesn't even appear in post while I'm writing it (all I can see is a small square, like the link was broken) and 2) I can't even post the message. When I hit 'Post' well...nothing happens. The message I'm writing just stays open... What form of link do you use exactly in the 'Add Image' popup window? Do you just paste the URL like http://hpics.li/f049e3e or you use HTML code like <a href="http://www.hostingpics.net/viewer.php?id=623910bends.jpg"><img src="http://img4.hostingpics.net/thumbs/mini_623910bends.jpg" alt="Heberger image" /></a> Thanks for your help!! I just click the image icon and paste the img url provided by photobucket, http://*****.com, and it works. Not had to bother with html code, the forum sorts out what it needs. tris

  4. Nope, it's not actually leather, it's a commercial made vinyl with a leather effect.... including the stitching effect. It's a pretty rigid and tough vinyl and I have two cats who have tried to claw at it and they haven't got very far yet, not even a scratch :) tris
  5. I sit on a Gretsch guitar bar stool: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v200/nero041001/Guitar/IMG_0808Copy.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v200/nero041001/Guitar/IMG_0810Copy.jpg There are fender ones, Gibson ones, loads of different designs. http://www.gak.co.uk/en/search The one I have and most the others cost around £70, but Thomann do one f or £35 http://www.thomann.de/gb/thomann_bar_stool_passion.htm They are typically 24" or 30" high, I'm 6'1", have the 24" version and have my left leg on the floor and my right leg up on the bar to rest my guitar on. My mother is around 5'4" and sits comfortably with both feet on the bar. I went for one as I used one in a music store and I'm rather a 'large' man, and found them to be comfortable and strong enough to hold my weight. They can be a bit pricy, but the build quality and strength is brilliant. I don't have a Gretsch, I have Gibson, Ibanez and Washburn, I just preferred the 'country' vibe this design had :) tris
  6. Looking at the gear included with Amplitube 3 (looking at the desktop pc version quoted "The Full Flagship Version") http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/amplitube/index.php?pp=amplitube-3-gear it only contains the metal and old jimi hendrix packs, then you have to buy the other packs: AmpliTube Orange (8 in the pack, only 5 included in AT3) AmpliTube Fender (12 in pack, only 6 included in AT3) Ampeg SVX (not included in AT3) AmpliTube Slash etc.... (not included in AT3) It is only 80euro at the moment instead of 160 which is good, but at full price I would have thought the other packs would be in there. Though I'm a bargain hunter and a bit tight with my money, so have high expectations as it's a good value modeling pack. Would be Amplitube 3 be useable with Mixcraft 6 too? Thought I'd ask, as some of us use it I expect :) By having Amplitube connected up to your amp do you mean guitar amp or conventional stereo amp and speakers? tris
  7. Oh yes, they do :) I cover the big sales over at avforums, they'll have a Thanksgiving sale end of November time for a few days followed by a big christmas steam sale where they discount almost everything. Always best to wait till the last day as the daily deals could just pop up with a bigger saving. In the summer sale all rocksmith and rs2014 dlc was 25%, the daily had a good discount on both games, but the discount on the dlc remained the same. I'm holding off for the 25% off again before grabbing anymore, with the songs from rs1 and rs 2014 along with the cdlc from here I've got plenty to play :) tris
  8. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure that you need to buy dlc for each different version sadly. tris
  9. No idea about the auto paypal thing mate, but sorry to hear about the cancer. Hope the mods don't mind me saying this, but don't worry about the donations here, just concentrate on fighting through it and I hope everything turns out good. All the best tris
  10. Nice find Tom, it's a lot easier on the eyes too :) Thanks for sharing the link. tris
  11. It's $5 for all five songs. They are the bachsmith pack. I doubt it will be much cheaper. In the summer sale the dlc's only went to 25% off for both Rocksmith and Rocksmith 2014, so I imagine they will be the same in the winter sale. Not much of a saving, but still a saving :) ....but for this pack, I'm not sure I'll be able to hold off ;) tris
  12. Love the classical stuff, I can see this pack being quite popular and even bring a few more in to liking classical music.... even if only played on the guitar. tris
  13. my firefox is always in window mode so i didnt see it > < thx! No problem ;) tris
  14. It does get a bit confusing with websites, domain names, storage costs, servers etc.... but it still all adds up. There can be tweaks here and there and having to do it all in their spare time is pretty time consuming and take a lot of setting up. I'm sure and trust that they are doing everything they can to keep costs down and when it's all sorted out with a fine flowing model the costs will come down and stabalise more. From what I have seen so far and with a desktop app and cdlc manager in development (for free I might add), I think it's quite a fine job.I like the site, the community are mostly friendly and obviously creative and provide great cdlc for learning tools, and they are trying new things to get it just right for a good user experience. As for the RIAA and/or any other copyright holders etc.... they should be thankful of sites such as this, as it is providing them with free publicity, they are indirectly helping people learn how to play their songs, uploading them to you tube/soundcloud (more free publicity) and likely increasing cd/mp3 sales as since I found this site, I have found cdlc for artists I have never even heard of, liked the cdlc and went off to find and buy their albums... 3 Doors Down, Evanescence, Radiohead, ZZ Top (The complete studio albums 1970-1990 for them) to name but a few. Thanks again for a great site and community and keep it up. Looking forward to the desktop app and cdlc manager. tris
  15. When it's zoomed, scroll all the way to the right and look at the bottom of the image. It will have 'Save' just above the 'close' button. Simply click on that, zoom again, right click and select 'save image as' as normal ;) tris
  16. I always check the official songs list on the rockmith site and wiki, I really do not know how to tell apart cdlc from dlc in game as they all have the 'dlc' tag in game. tris
  17. Three for me: Electric Gibson Les Paul Studio 2014 Electric Bass Ibanez GSR180 Acoustic Electric Washburn EA15ATB (Pictures in the gear thread) tris
  18. I 'broke the ice' with Rocksmith/Rocksmith 2014, and am currently learning from various sources: Guitar Pro 6 - Can finally read tab to a degree now. The software also let you select the tab of the part you want to play which you can listen to, mute that part and export the 'backing track' to play along with and of course print out the tabs. I learned Over the Rainbow (I know, I know, I just like the song) and currently learning Ave Maria via that. Learning Books and other Learning Tools/Video's/sites: The Justinguitar.Com Beginner's Guitar Course (Book & 2 Cds) The Justinguitar.Com Beginner's Song Book v2 The Justinguitar.Com Pop Song Book The Justinguitar.Com Rock Song Book The Justinguitar.Com You Tube Videos for beginners course and song books The Andyguitar.co.uk You Tube Videos for beginners course The Ask any member of AVForums 360 Music Gaming Section pretty much anything - They also have a song of the week thing going on which I haven't got into yet, not for want of trying, just seem too busy 'finding my feet' as it were. I learned Chasing Cars by watching the Justin video tutorial of it about 2 times. Simple as most of it (or all of it if you don't want to add anything fancy) is just a couple of strings. The Avforums that I mentioned there are invaluable, I made a lot of friends and can pretty much ask them anything as well as socialise with them and have a laugh, they have been a good help in pretty much every aspect from gear advice to playing tips. We upload to soundcloud what we play, and there is no judgement just good solid constructive advice. Then of course there is this forum, everyone seems friendly enough and do some fantastic work and cdlc exercises. I think if I just used rocksmith, tabs, guitar pro 6 or the Justin or Andy sites to learn to play I'd have lost a little interest, but learning from every available resource keeps me going and the fact that I love sitting there and strumming or picking away since I find it pretty therapeutic. I have had a couple of lessons with my sis as she plays, but not been able to see her lately. I have been thinking of going for one or two professional lessons just to see what I should do to make the most of all this free stuff thats about. When I was younger I did have a little go on an acoustic guitar, but never really picked one up and played. I started 3 months ago now, thats when I really picked a guitar up and got into it. These days there are a load of different ways to learn how to play, much, much more than back in the 80's/90's and before then. Also, if you can buy one, get a recorder like a Zoom R8, or if not use a free app on a phone, pc mic or whatever means you need and record yourself playing. I have found that is a great way to learn as you can hear the mistakes and improve on them the next time you try. I shove all my recordings on soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/trisguitar Not recording a great deal at the moment as I'm in the middle of improving on some stuff I know and learning more. Ignore the 'JMD' ones that are up there at the moment, thats just me sorting out my amp head and cab. As for chords, they are a nightmare for me. I know D off by heart and thats about it. I seem to be better at playing single notes, but I know I should really be getting to grips with A and E and switching between them All the best, and keep at it, it's all worth it in the end and a fantastic hobby if nothing more. tris
  19. Thanks :) I'm still actually learning, but my dear mum gave me some money to get the new guitars and bass amp, I think it's all quite an investment and I'm loving every minute of it. I do actually have a few more bits and pieces: Gretsch Bar Stool (lovely to sit on put a leg up and play) Zoom R8 8 track Recorder/Interface/Controller/Sampler Old Kenwood amp with some old Wharfadale Diamond 9.0 Speakers to playback from the Zoom R8 A mates old PC that I have turned into a Music studio.... ....with of course some software and books to use as a learning aid and mix and make some music: Recording and Music software (A fair few of which I already had that came free with my video editing software, some came with gear/hardware and bought Guitar Pro 6 recently): Rocksmith/Rocksmith 2013 with cable and DLC Mixcraft Pro Studio 6 Guitar Pro 6 Acid Music Studio 10 Soundforge Audio Studio 10 Cubase LE AI Elements 7 Sonar X1 LE Learning Books and other Learning Tools/Video's/sites: The Justinguitar.Com Beginner's Guitar Course (Book & 2 Cds) The Justinguitar.Com Beginner's Song Book v2 The Justinguitar.Com Pop Song Book The Justinguitar.Com Rock Song Book The Justinguitar.Com You Tube Videos for beginners course and song books The Andyguitar.co.uk You Tube Videos for beginners course The Ask any member of AVForums 360 Music Gaming Section pretty much anything It should all last me for years to come :) tris

  21. Ignition and a cdlc manager sound like fantastic little programs for the site. I was thinking of suggesting someone with some skills doing a song manager for cdlc to upate and get rid of the old file, so Ignition is a surprise and will help a great deal. I look forward to seeing the development over the coming months. tris
  22. My names tris, I'm 35, I'm still fairly new to the forums, electric guitar and Rocksmith. I might as well say thank you top the site admins and all the contributors whilst I'm here, this is a fantastic site and has a lot of great members. I have been playing games since I was 4, started on the Spectrum ZX81 and had pretty much every console/computer since.... though I am now using just my gaming rig for all my gaming needs these past years. I grew up with music around me a lot, my sister played the guitar, my other sisters husband is a gigger (singing) that he's done for donkeys, and I started singing at around 11. Over the years, its taken quite a toll on my voice, and I do still sing (to myself most the time), but I also wanted to express myself with an instrument. Until around 2 months ago, I had never really picked up a guitar in any seriousness and only had a go on a keyboard a few times, but suffering with various mental illnesses I hit a bit of a block and a couple of people on youtube inspired me to learn to play, Daniel Tidwell and FamilyJules7X, and I have never looked back since. I have go in with a really nice and helpful crowd over at my usual forums I have been a member of for the past 10 years, and they have helped me pick my gear and point me in the right direction, so I'm very grateful of them, they are also the people who I first learned about Rocksmith from and I was pointed here for cdlc which I am equally grateful for as some stuff here isn't likely to ever be released on Rocksmith like game and movie soundtracks/themes and certain songs. I started out with an Epiphone Les Paul Special II, RS/RS2014 and a 10w Vox starter amp.... and for some reason or another over the past 2 months I have accumulated a bit of kit (with some help of some family and friends: Epiphone Les Paul Special II electric guitarMarshall JMD1 (JMD50) with 6 button foot pedal / pedal lead / cabinet lead / power cableHercules GS301B TravLite Foldable Lightweight Acoustic Guitar StandSnark SN8 supertight all instrument tuner Various cables and picks/plectrumsKyser Electric Guitar Quick Change Capo - BlackSchaller Security Strap Locks - NickelHarley Benton G212 Vintage (2x Celestial Vintage 30 speakers 12")Levy's M4GFDBR 3.5-inch Leather and Suede Guitar StrapZOOM R8 Audio Pro MultitrackThe Justinguitar.Com Beginner's Guitar Course (Book & 2 Cds)The Justinguitar.Com Beginner's Song Book v2The Justinguitar.Com Pop Song BookThe Justinguitar.Com Rock Song BookThe Justinguitar.Com You Tube Videos for beginners course and song booksThe Andyguitar.co.uk You Tube Videos for beginners course My very old stereo amp and speakers so I can play back what I recorded on the Zoom Kenwood KA-1060wharfadale diamond 9.0 speakers So far I'm loving learning to play, I know theres a lot more work ahead of me, but it's a great hobby and I thoroughly enjoy it. Thanks again tris
  23. The above quote from that link is a very good point, even if we wanted to get permission, there are no means to do so for the average joe like ourselves. The same would be applied to soundcloud uploads that contain the original etc.... Besides, most of us that would put something like this would come under Section 107 of the Copyright Act 1976 which covers: Criticism Comment News Reporting TeachingScholarship and Research. As long as the source is mentioned (artist, name of produced works, publisher etc....) and it is not for profit, then I see no problem as we are simply using it to learn then uploading it to soundcloud/youtube etc.... for comment and criticism on youtube, forums and such. tris
