  1. I had a guitar stolen along with a lot of electronics. We ended up catching the guys who broke into our house because after two weeks they decided they could learn how to play guitar and pawned it. They should have stolen my RockSmith and then they would be playing now instead of sitting in prison.
  2. Oh great thread, now I will hear the ringing in my ears for the next couple of days. I was born with it. I never really noticed until my parents took me in for a hearing check. The put your hand up when you hear a noise was a bit ineffective for me as I would keep my hand up. I usually have a fan or white noise generator going to break the silence and help me sleep. I hear people better when I can see their lips, not that I can read lips. I generally try to stay away from loud noises. This past 4th of July, my wife found a spot near the stage to listen to the band. I spent the night turned sideways with a finger in one ear as I didn't think to bring my earplugs.
  3. I find that I use DD when there is a long arpegio that I am having trouble getting. Most of the time I set the skill level at 100 and slow the song down to about 80. Just like any tool is a time an place for DD. You wouldn't use a slege hammer to hang dry wall (well, I wouldn't). My daughter, age 11, relies on DD to make playing guitar fun. I set all her songs down to 0 on DD and let them play at 100 speed. She get DD to level up to the point that chords start showing up fairly quickly. He next challenge is to get to the chord positions before they get past. If she had to start off with jumping from chord to chord she would quit playing again.
  4. You will probably want to pick out a song that has distinct riff that everyone knows. Or have a decent signing voice. Bowie's Rebel Rebel is a quick easy song to learn (D, E, A, Bm) with the same strum pattern through most of the song. If I play it, most people won't recognize the song with my (not so good) singing to go with it.
  5. Google "decal guitar." Second link takes me to the site that has http://www.inzanedecals.com/designs_decals.php?id=6
  6. Woah! is that a link to the FAQ right next to the forum rules? Oh yea, I missed the large link in blue too.
  7. I agree 100% with you. Next time run across the song I try an remember its name and post it here.
  8. There is one song I was recently playing at 80% speed. My sustain lasted for 8 to 10 beats with the tone that was set for that song (don't remember which one). I set my guitar volume high and the song low in the mixer. My guitar was still sustaining when the note suddenly stops as if I damped the string. This is a gate effect. A gate is generally used to quite a noizy guitar or prevent cross talk between microphone (e.g. a drum set rig). I suspect the person who generated the tone had a grounding problem with his guitar and set the gate a bit high.
  9. Guess I am too busy playing the guitar to watch the sports. ;)

  11. They are doing marketing? I've not seen any advertizing for RS except for when I go searching for it. Then, of course, it shows up in the adds section of every web page I visit. The only reason I have RS is because my former surpervisor who wants to learn how to play guitar purchased the original version. We have both purchased RS2014. I've move from an OK player that takes a couple of months to get a song playable to being able to get a song "good enough" in a week. My supervisor would be one of the few that RS hasn't worked well for. Give him a bucket and he still can't carry a tune ;). He does OK on Black Magic, bass part. He does loose the beat from time to time still. It would be nice if they give a push out to the TV market before Christmas. Maybe get Hanna Montana to put her wig (and clothes) back on and advertize on Disney. That would grab a bunch of kids attention. Heck, while you are paying her, she could also advetize during adult swim (with out the wig).
  12. Hope you are not really getting laid off. Oh wait, more videos if you do. Now I am confllicted ;)
  13. Kind of nice for a quick play along.
  14. Or since you are only using one string, you can use any other finger too :) As firekorn mentioned, two strings up and two frets over is an octave (three frets when you hit the G string). Other than the case of when the low tone is on an open string, I used the finger holding the low tone to dampen the next string. Andrake
  15. I play on an old Dell E6410. It was crashing in sesson mode until I updated to the 2013 video/sound drivers.
  16. Yep! Printing is definitely on top of my list. Is there any way to make formal feature requests? sleepy Here is your formal request site for his project: Printing is on his list.
  17. I guess I'll need to throw out my post-it note collection. I can usually get two measure of a song tabbed out on one post-it. I pause RS, tab out a riff or two and then practice off line. I put a couple of songs into PowerTab to print out, but that took to long. This is something I've wanted for some time. Thanks, thanks, thanks. Add features as you can. I suspect the most requested would be printing.
  18. Yep, I see it now. I didn't notice it previously. The suggestion of forcing a comment to rate is to make leaving a rating less anonymous. Also, i would suggest searching by star rating. Yes, it is something smithy anvil had. I liked the feature.
  19. How about adding the 5 star ranking system. Let anyone rank, but must leave a comment with the ranking. That would give feedback to the charter and make it easier to search. Also, be sure to let the mods remove comments of "Why would anyone want this song" or "that band $@*&$"
  20. Guiagge, That is the simple way to do it. Many amps don't have a clean signal level output to tap into. Also you would have to play into your amplifier unmodified. When I connect my amp I use a direct box with gound lift and run into my ancient Digitec RP1 to go to my amplifier. The purpose of the direct box is to split the signal and not have to worry about a grounding loop and that horrid 60hz hum. Andrake
  21. Before just slapping a "Y" splitter cable in line with your output I would check this thread: You may get a bit more noise that you would like. I have set up my bass to play through my amp in parallel with RockSmith. I got a hearty "what do you think you are doing!" from my wife. I usually play while she is watching TV. Normally in the same room. I almost picked up a semihollow body guitar, but realized I would never get to play it as it would be "too loud" when not plugged in.
  22. I have found most of the songs that I have downloaded to be of great quality (thanks to those who made them). There were a couple that I've had problems with. The charters stated that they were new. One, the obviously charted the part on a simulated bass guitar as the tuning was extreme to say the least. I like to give constructive feedback to hope these new charters get better. No, I've not submitted one yet as my OCD is not letting get past certain sections of the song I am doing. My wife will eventully hit me upside the head to move on so she won't have to keep hearing the same riff over and over.......
  23. Sorry, I gave you the equipment to purchase, but not the setup. I've been off the site for a bit or I would have responded sooner. Man, that is one awful noise. That is likely from your hard drive. I have a program somewhere on a floppy that will put that will spit out that type of noise through the sound card by accessing the hard drive. I'm not sure if the modern setups are still susceptible to that kind of interference. I may look for that disk for next april fools day.
  24. You won't want to use a "Y" splitter to send your signal to different destinations. There are several reasons for this but two major reasons are that you will change the impedance of your signal and it is easy to make a ground loop. You should go pick up a direct box with ground lift. You can find them for as cheap as $20.
