Here is a video of me playing the Ska song so you can see how I fret the chords. If you look at my ring finger closely you can see that the 2nd joint flexes off the guitar just a little bit so that the High E string sounds. This is very difficult to do and takes some practice and will cause a lot of pain in the beginning. This wasn't my best attempt at all but i made it just for reference. http://youtu.be/20vv3pY3PVU

Just keep your index finger flattened on the 5th fret and flatten your ring finger on the 7th fret. That is how I do it and it works each time. Coincidentally you can also just do it like a B major chord chord position as well without hitting the A string.

@ much better man, keep it up. Just have to keep practicing those arpeggios and don't be scared of them they aren't that bad in this song. We both have seen other songs with much worse arpeggios.

Nooney if you can handle advanced bass techniques you should be able to apply that to the lead guitar. It won't be as bad as you think when you try the guitar. The only problem you may run into are chords but if you practice them you will be surprised at how fast you will pick up the guitar. However I do now that it's a lot easier for a guitarist to learn how to play the Bass than it is for a Bass player to learn guitar so it will take practice and some getting used to with the lighter gauge strings.

seems like @ has difficulties with Arpeggios lol. Its really not that difficult if you just ignore the fact that its an arpeggio. You can play it as single note without a problem.

Play the mini games house of castle chorded and the space one, these mini games are great for learning chords and for speed transitioning between chords its great practice.
