  1. I played guitar in my teens and early twenties and then took 40 years off. I'm 64 now and have been playing drums for about four years and am the drummer at church. On drums, I can listen to most any song and play along. But, I am not able to do that with guitar. (I'm just starting to play bass - so the jury is still out there.) A little over a year ago, I got back into guitar and found that I can still play a bunch of chords and can read most simple music to play a song. But, what I can't do now (and couldn't do 40 years ago) is play along with a song. Without music, I don't know what to play. What does one need to do to be able to what I can do on drums: listen to a song and, at least on some level, play along with it? Thanks for any suggestions!
  2. I'm new to bass as well and checked out Scott's site. JamPlay for bass seems pretty good as well.
  3. Having Cherub Rock should make the difference then. How about the D3DX9_42.dll file?
  4. This is a great idea and something that I would love to see. But, and maybe I missed something here, how could this be applied to CDLC that we already have? Would it be necessary to edit each file one by one?
  5. I can't seem to get it to work with the Rocksmith cable. How did you do it? Thanks!
  6. Yeah, I try to "sneak" most new things in to preserve domestic tranquility. But, she doesn't do that with clothes, purses or shoes!
  7. It just attached itself to my post. I don't know where it came from.

But, I was under the impression that it could be done. Is this tutorial what you need: http://youtu.be/aJQzydSpPgI#aid=P8hZxQ9fm5A
  10. Who can remember - it was the 60's!
  11. The only body modification that I have done is to make my stomach bigger and have less hair.
  12. You can download a fully-functional demo for 30 days. So far, my biggest issue is that it only recognizes major, minor, and 7th chords (along with power chords). They can add more but it decreases the detection. They are working to add more features and increase the detection accuracy (now about 85%). I played with it quite a bit yesterday and it was fun picking any song from my collection and being able to play along. The interface is very nice and it is very easy to use. I had it installed and was playing within minutes. I'll add some more thoughts as I play with it some more.
  13. I wonder if anyone knows of other good guitar software? I just ran into something called RIffstation. It will take just about any audio file and show you the chords in it. It does a bunch of other stuff as well such as changing the speed and pitch, isolating solos and looping, Anyway, I downloaded the demo (http://www.riffstation.com/) yesterday and ended up buying it the same day. I recently took a very large CD collection and put in on my PC and these are now all available for me to play - pretty cool!
  14. I was in a band called the "No Relations" back in the late 60's and early 70's. A long time ago!
  15. I find that the drunker the audience gets, the better I play!
  16. On a drumming site that I frequent the need to keep getting new toys is known as GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome). Now, my wife often accuses my of having gas (often for good reason) but what I really have is GAS!
  17. I play both rhythm and lead. I've toyed with the idea of getting a bass but I figured that I better just concentrate on guitar and avoid having my wife kill me! http://images53.fotki.com/v1494/photos/8/801792/7109016/photo-vi.jpg
  18. I donated on day one as well.
  19. Thanks for setting this up!
