  1. http://steamcommunity.com/id/malcior/screenshot/597038027879168572 Babymetal! Fun to play, not something I'd commit to memory for late night jam sessions after the pub but worth a crack and at least some room for improvement through the week :) ( I want to learn the lyrics too heheh ) I've tried the Megadeth track, and I'm finding it BRICK hard, so, I won't be submitting a score for the Megadeth track, not because of its difficulty, because I'd definitely invest time in to learning it if I liked the song, but I hate it :D Maybe I'm getting old, I loved them in my teens, it's probably menopause. :)
  2. http://steamcommunity.com/id/malcior/screenshot/597038027878046843 Reminds me of the 90's The Cranberries :D I really needed to whack the volume up for Cranberries as my first attempt in learn a song and score attack, nothing was registering. Third time lucky though it was o.k. At the end of Zombie, I felt like some of the notes were missing and it went really out of time... maybe it's just me not getting an intentional, avant garde time signature twist, but it sounded a bit bleh at the end.... gonna give the others a try too :)
  3. Managed to have a couple more bashes about, still don't really have the time this week but I have made a bit of an improvement, and it's a boss song, I'll probably be dancing about to it tomorrow night! :D http://steamcommunity.com/id/malcior/screenshot/597038027834768912
  4. Don't think I'll be submitting another score this week. My highest on Fire woman I forgot to take a screenshot of so I put up my next best instead and I haven't exceeded it yet. I need to work on some fret hand finger practice instead... I enjoyed the lineup this week, great choices :) If I do get a break from the theory and exercises I might come back to the contest late friday (beer intake permitting) Good luck folks! Cheers for the invites too Motive+Smile, feeling very welcomed.
  5. Not a genre but, personally I'd like to see some dexterity exercises to improve finger technique, dexterity and speed. I practice chromatic scales using the full neck of the guitar to try improve my pace but find it difficult sometime to get my fretting hand to do what I want it to do (My index finger is sometimes less compliable through years of devil horning at gigs!) They tend to trip up when moving up and down the neck and sometimes I'm not sure what finger should be fretting the string and often some songs just don't always have phrases that require the use of all four fingers on the left hand... I'd like to see some classical music adapted for the bass and guitar though :) Especially and Flight of the bumble bee :)
  6. Does it just flash up or is it actually stopping you from playing your instrument? Sometimes if I've been tabbing regularly in and out of Rocksmith it'll happen so I restart, unplug, replug when that happens. It's a pain but it will usually give me another couple of hours playtime without the "device unplugged" message popping up. Otherwise, it's usually my active pickups need the batteries recharging. If it's something else causing it, sorry to say, I have no remedy.
  7. Indeed he is :) Not my favorite but I love maiden, and I love the gallop of the bass lines :D
  8. http://steamcommunity.com/id/malcior/screenshot/595911581618385654 Spent some time this evening on Fire Woman. I'll give Trooper and My Generation a bash tomorrow. Have played Trooper before and did have a go last night, I like the repetitive phrases in Trooper for bass, they'll be easy to memorise but might have to adopt a 3 finger fingering system to the rhythm of the bass line because it's fe'in fast!
  9. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=263989644 I've tried this a few more times since but kept forgetting to screen shot it. I'll have another practice tomorrow :)
  10. I play a Peavey Cirrus BXP model which are great to play and a decent price too, about £400 compared to the USA cirrus which is about £1200, quite light and have a smaller body than most basses I've played. It's a 24 fret bass (having the extra frets is a perk imo) with active pickups, which is not so much a perk when it comes to 2 x 9v batteries being a requirement (Rechargeable batteries are highly recommended if you play more than 12 hours a week!) but those pickups deliver a great resonance/sustain and harmonics are easy to play on it. If you don't mind the aesthetics being a bit garish (the USA models are much prettier) then give one a try if you get to sample some basses in store or from the seller. I have a Fender Jazz copy and find I love the sound but not keen on the weight, though having a decent padded strap is definitely a help. Flea bass or Musicman might be worth looking at and trying out as they're lighter but deliver a similar feel to a fender, they can also be expensive but, like Flameout101 said, if you shop about there are bargains to be had with secondhand ones.
  11. Too many to mention but I recently saw Monster Truck in Manchester due to being introduced to them by playing their track on Rocksmith. They're amazing live, nice chaps to talk too as well :) . Best gigs I've been to were seeing Red Hot Chillies, Queens of the Stone Age and Foo Fighters all on the same stage in Glasgow in about 2002. Great day :D
  12. I wouldn't say my music taste has changed but it's definitely expanded. I'm from a prog rock/ metal and grunge background when it comes to my favorite flavors, but, since playing bass I've definitely added more genre's to my taste, my favorite bassists are Geddy Lee, Les Claypool and a couple of session musicians, Josh Fossgreen and Jay Mentzino (Holt). I've always enjoyed funk and soul, so, the opportunity to play some has opened my eyes to a lot of techniques that I would never have necessarily tried. John Deacon of Queen, despite being a fan of the band, I never rated that much until playing the bass and realised he's a terrific bassist, but that was down to naivety more than not paying attention, I always enjoyed Queen's bass lines and to play them has improved my shifting technique up and down the neck :) I'll have to try some U2, although I'm not a fan of them in the slightest I think you have to give some bands that you don't like a chance, as you might miss out on a really enjoyable riff/phrase :)
  13. Rush 2112 when I was 11 or 12, my friend had introduced me to Rush Roll the Bones when that was released and I had to find more :) First gig was this :) 1984, New Brighton Rock where a plethora of bands performed, I was 7 and this opened an addiction to concerts :)
  14. As you play the game and unlock achievements you get pedals , amps and other equipment so you can create your own custom tones. you can save them to hotkeys (1, 2, 3 and 4 on your keyboard if you're using the pc version) and select the tone you want when you begin playing a song (you get an achievement for doing that too). It can be a bit fiddly combining some of the equipment to get the right tones but there's some pretty nice effects you can make.

  18. Ignore the above post, I was lazy and didn't read the whole thread as I've only just finished work for the day and just skimmed the quote etc I see you've given us a new CDLC :) Cheers Shiroo! x
  19. What do you mean by Sinners isnt available in your chosen path ? Im a creator of the song, so im wondering if its some technical difficulty. When I try to choose the song it has the 'X' next to it and won't allow me to play the track, I've tried it on both of my bass' but for some reason it just doesn't want to allow me to play it... just get the message that it's not available for my path . Sorry for the delay in replying! And thank you for your response :)
  20. Looks like I'm at a loss this week, my first full week an' all... Sinners isn't available in my chosen path apparently, Fade to Black is almost unplayable, for me anyways (no offence intended to the hard work put in to the cdlc, I love that song though so I'm a little sad :( .) and I can't megadeth tuning at all! Good luck to the rest of you though x
  21. Tried too, can't get either of mine tuned either.
  22. I love playing Muse tracks but Uprising is killing my fretting hand :) Fanks a bunch!
