  1. Sounds to me like the makers of those CDLCs didn't designate a tone for the bass, and as a result, the toolkit probably defaulted the bass to a "guitar" tone (if there even was one). This will cause Rocksmith's tone mechanism to break, and it will remain that way until you restart the game. Are these CDLCs all made by the same person? If so, it might be easiest to bring this to their attention so they'll be able to fix it for you.
  2. Is this Rocksmith telling you this, or your anti-virus software? It seems highly unlikely that RS would warn you about a virus. Some people have mentioned previously that their anti-virus software will issue false positives with the Rocksmith dll's needed in order to play customs. If this is happening to you you'll need to tell your anti-virus software to ignore the files (and replace them back into the RS folder if they've been moved).
  3. Thanks man! It's almost done. It's just taking a while, since I'm having to manually chart a lot of it. I just have to finish about ahlf of the rhythm arrangement. The GP files I've been able to find have been mostly wrong, which is almost the norm for Zeppelin stuff....
  4. There were 4 Pearl Jam songs that were posted on SA for Rocksmith 2014. Most of them were missing custom tones, arrangements, or had errors in the chart, so you're not missing out on too much. This is why re-posting CDLCs made by others isn't allowed. Makes perfect sense to me.
  5. Oh, I see. I've never used it, so I wouldn't be able to tell you how accurate it is.The next step would be to sync the beats manually in EoF. Select he time signature and then move the first beat marker in alignment with the beginning of the song. After that you may need to manually move the first beat of every other measure (sometimes less frequently, sometimes every measure) to align with the downbeat of the recording. Continue this through the end of the song.My post from another thread might provide you some more context, as well. http://customsforge.com/topic/841-how-to-make-cdlc-full-in-depth-tut-completed/?p=12219
  6. Could you elaborate a bit on what you mean by this part?
  7. The KISS DLCs came out fairly recently, so that's why the app ID isn't in the toolkit. It wouldn't hurt to bring this to the attentions of the devs over in toolkit sub-forum. Maybe it'd be easy for them to add.
  8. My guess is that you'll need to edit the tone type in the toolkit before you generate the package. Select the tone > edit > then choose the appropriate type from the drop-down menu. I think your auto-tone failure is a result of this not being done, or perhaps the "bass" type being selected by default. It doesn't matter if you delete the "default" tone that the toolkit creates, as long as all the arrangements are "told" to use the other ones that you've added.I've personally always designated a tone change at the very beginning of the chart (in EoF) and used this as the "default tone." Of course, you won't need to do this if only one tone is going to be used in your song.
  9. Honestly, I don't think that you understood what cstewart was trying to tell you. What he meant was that in order to do what you're asking, YOU must chart both guitar parts on one arrangement in Editor on Fire (EoF). If the custom song you're referring was made by some one else, then you may want to ask them nicely to combine the arrangements. You can only play one arrangement at a time if the custom is made with both lead and rhythm parts. In cases where the "lead" guitar is only a short solo or the rhythm part is repetitive, the charter might elect to combine two guitar parts into the "lead" arrangement.
  10. Definitely. It was one of the first songs I ever learned to play end to end, albeit somewhat poorly.I would only add the standard tuning arrangement if it worked properly with the studio version. I suspect you're right about it "almost" working, though.
  11. Aww thanks man! Good timing on your part, since I couldn't exactly remember where we left off.I love The Rain Song too, so hopefully I'll be able to do it justice. If I'm feeling ambitious, I might add the standard tuning (live) arrangement as a rhythm or bonus track. That's assuming it can be played along with the studio version...
  12. You may want to read the comments on that tutorial video when you have a moment. There's a lot of reasons why you may not want to rely solely on moving the notes in the manner you've described there. It may seem easier at first, but it could cause more headaches.Glad you were at least able to fix it for the moment though!
  13. Having leading silence is actually a good thing. IMO you should always have at least 3000 milliseconds of leading silence so that the player has a chance to get ready and be in position to play before the song actually starts. Once the leading silence is added, you'll want to move the first beat marker forward (to the right on piano roll). You'll also want to designate the time signature (4/4 being the most common). If the actually starts on the first beat of the measure, then you'll want to move the first beat marker to where the first note is played. If the song has a "lead in" measure where the music starts in the middle of a measure, you'll want to align the beat markers in accordance with this. Here's an example of a song that has a lead in and how it would look: http://i.imgur.com/gzhAUhe.jpg
  14. Not that I know of. I'm sure raynebc could better speak to the expected behavior of EoF.I've honestly never bothered with editing the chord names.
  15. The majority of the community here plays RS on a PC (including myself), so that probably has a lot to do with why this has gone unanswered. Also, re-naming the thread to something more relevant might help, for example, "Help with setting up Xbox to play CDLCs" might attract people who know their way around an Xbox. There's some helpful videos on youtube that explain the differences between the two methods. From there, I'd imagine that you could find a tutorial through google for your chosen method. There probably isn't a detailed tutorial here because modding your Xbox could be classified as a form of piracy, and this forum certainly doesn't promote that.Once you're done with the above, the guide here should be useful: http://rocksmithcustoms.wikispaces.com/Playing+Custom+Content+for+Xbox
  16. Yup that's correct. Although it doesn't necessarily matter WHEN you tell EoF that there's a capo, or to ignore it for naming purposes. That could just as easily be done last as long as the arrangement is charted relative to the capo.
  17. This is also possible with EoF. Syncing is the easy part. Applying the proper techniques and fixing the tab is what takes time.
  18. I'm not necessarily convinced that editing in GPA would be easier IF you're well versed in EoF's keyboard shortcuts and capabilities. But I can see how it'd be helpful for some people.I must admit, I've only had a few minutes of hands-on time with GPA. I found it to be helpful, but I guess not enough to spend the $20 in order to do everything there. I would most likely just end up doing minor tweaks in EoF no matter what.
  19. I'm not really sure what you mean by this. If you didn't catch my intention, I was saying that people often slip up because they can't get around EoFs learning curve. And that the perceived learning curve is largely due to the fact that there aren't enough educational resources available.I wasn't trying to attack GoPlayAlong or yourself, if that's what you were thinking.
  20. In my experience, it's exactly the opposite. It was only frustrating for me when (it turned out) I didn't know what I was doing. Honestly, I just don't think there's a comprehensive video tutorial involving EoF. The ones that are out there, frankly, are only enabling people to make 2nd rate CDLCs and they don't teach them how to take full advantage of what EoF provides.I'll get off my soapbox now :)
  21. It depends on how you're moving the beat markers :)In many cases, the BPM designation that you'll get from something like UltraStar (or even a songbook) only serves as an approximation. This will get you in the ballpark, but unless the recording engineer has used some software trickery to eliminate tempo fluctuation, you're going to have to make manual adjustments. Probably every 1-2 measures, at least in my experience. The easiest way to do this is to only move the first beat of the measure, if at all possible. 99% of the time, you'll never need to worry about the other beats unless the song purposely changes tempo in the middle of a measure. If you hit F5, you'll see a waveform display of the audio file. This is extremely helpful. If you look at it closely, you'll notice patterns (most of the time) in the wavegraph which will help guide you as to where to drag the beats. Also, make sure you have grid snap enabled. It's your best friend.Hopefully this will help you get started in the absence of a video tutorial.
  22. Yeah, it can't hurt to try to repack or convert it again. As long as the version you're converting from is confirmed as working, you'll get it working eventually :)The problem for us charters is that in most cases, we can only test on one of the 4 platforms (for me it's PC). The toolkit will sometimes spit out working PC arrangements and then malfunctioning Mac or Xbox versions of the same song.I'm all for releasing my stuff on all platforms so that non-PC users don't have to convert everything, but I'm seriously considering only releasing PC versions while this bug gets sorted out.
  23. There's a known bug in the toolkit which is causing this. I'm not sure if it affects converting from one platform to another, however. The bug seems to randomly affect the packing process off a CDLC. It basically causes the Toolkit to spit faulty arrangements about 30-40% of the time. Repeating packing process until it's fixed is the only way around this until the bug is squashed for good. The toolkit devs are aware of it, and it's already been logged on GitHub. As far as I know, they're still trying to find the root cause. The only thing that I can suggest for you is to try the conversion process again, and maybe again after that if the first time is unsuccessful. This is assuming, of course, that the PC version that you're converting from is working properly for all arrangements (you may want to check the CDLC's thread to see if anyone has raised an issue or confirmed). Good luck man!
