  1. You can do that anyways, crank your difficulty to 100, then just play everything on the downbeats don't worry about anything else. Essentially all DD is doing is giving you notes on the number count then throwing in the others. Also in EOF you could open your CDLC song and just resave it without DD enabled, should work.
  2. Spend the $35 or $75 dollars to have a music shop or luthier setup your instrument. Most times you can make nice with people in a music shop and request to observe the setup process, you can then ask questions about what is going on.
  3. In middle school I played clarinet, when I was 14 or 15 is when I began with guitar, did play that during HS but not seriously.
  4. DD can lose notes, my major gripe with DD is technique. I find I'll use the easiest fingering solution based on notes presented, which using DD often is opposite of what's required, I am holding myself back in a sense as I learn to finger the melody incorrectly, it works with DD but when more and more notes are revealed the flaw in the fingering method becomes apparent and by the time you work it from 0% to even say 60% you've spent all that effort learning to play it incorrectly.
  5. Guitars are better, a guitar doesn't care if you don't come home, if you come home drunk or if you even come home with another guitar. Try any of those with a woman.
  6. No I could not play it with years worth of practice. I broke my left extreme metacarpal 20 odd years ago and have a metal plate that was surgically put in to hold the bone together while it healed. I've lost all fine control in my pinky to the point certain barres hurt. There's too much pinky work for me to be able to play it. As far as how good I am, I'm on par with Dave Lister, yeah I'm that good! He starts playing at 49 seconds.
  7. Coordination is learned, it's muscle memory and training. I doubt few if any players have natural coordination. It takes years of practice to master. Enjoy playing, have fun, set small goals, practice the lessons as they teach valuable techniques, practice outside of RS as well. Don't give up, don't expect to be Stevie Ray in a few months.
  8. I expect an autographed copy of the RPG!
  9. I did try with a rest it didn't work, I may try changing time signature. I did end up getting GP6 which has a nice feature for what I want to do. Just not sure GP6 is suited for EoF or RS.
  10. No an anacrusis is the first beat of the measure appears not at the first beat but at the last measure. http://www.songsofthecosmos.com/images/anacrucis.gif There's an example.
  11. There's some kludgy ways to do this, looks like the easiest is to just purchase GP6. It actually includes an anacrusis tool.
  12. Not sure where to post this so posting here. I am making a CDLC, still in the GP5 stage and having trouble as the first measure is 3 beats though it's 4/4 time. The pickup note appears at the end of the piece. My issue is doing an anacrusis in GP5, does anyone have experience in this?
  13. Snapping in the sense of physical is not the same as snapping and shooting people. He sounds like a serious enthusiast which differs from those likely to go on a spree, he is also aware of his issue as such I'm sure the last thing he does is touch a firearm when in that state. Shooting is relaxing, requires concentration and attention to what you are doing as well as fantastic muscle control. It's an excellent sport both mentally and physically. You are correct about building your own weapons they don't have to be registered or have serial, though local laws will differ state to state jurisdiction to jurisdiction, so make sure to check your local laws before you start building. I'm looking at getting some 80% lowers.
  14. Stoner here, agree with TheDeathryder as far as altered states goes. If smoking while playing I tend to be sloppier technique wise as well as later forgetting notes. It does help pass the time while noodling but it's crap for seriously practicing. As far as coffee gives me jitters and again there goes technique. As far as smoking, keep in mind it's an instrument you should be taking care of as if it were an extension of you. Nicotine coats everything in a room including your instrument and will damage the finish, electrical connections inside as well as make strings sound less crisp due to the nicotine coating. As has been said practice is a fun time, it shouldn't be work it should be enjoyable the more enjoyable the more your likely to actually improve your play. I combo sit and stand while playing, standing is fine for hours on end, I hit the gym regularly and have noticed since doing so wearing my guitar no longer hurts my back. I also wear high so either sitting or standing it's resting on my shoulders and not my lap. Micro breaks are your friend, try 30 mins to hour sessions and no more until after a half hour to hour of doing something other than guitar related, any longer and you may be losing focus and mentally wandering.
  15. Felonies don't come off your record, maybe as a juvenile. Still though with your bi-polar that could be explained as "an episode". Yeah music could be a totally doable profession. If not playing there's tons of other stuff, mixing, producing, sound board, writing. It's near endless.
  16. Would he prefer you do something less productive than learn an instrument?
  17. Another good one is Me First and the Gimme Gimmes Science Fiction, entire song is pretty much barre chords. Quite fast easy to play, the higher notes aren't really struck so you are really more playing the power chord version of the barres.
  18. The MM enabling disabling is a mystery. One thing you can do to try to prevent this is inside your RS directory once MM is disabled try setting your config to read only. This will negate any writing to config the game attempts to do. I'm not 100% certain there is a MM setting in the config, not in front of my computer atm so can't look. Another thing you can do is go into the game set MM off, instead of playing shutdown and restart the game this way the changes will be written and hopefully saved and adhered to on next run. As for tones, I have noticed that the tones will change during a session or from session to session. Sometimes when I begin to slack it seems my input is quieted down even though I have player volume set 100 and track set 90 volume wise. Hope this helps. I also run Windows 10. Something else you can check are any updates Windows has done in the background. I have turned auto updates off on my computer as it ticked me off to be in the middle of playing only to have lag strike due to an update being downloaded and then Windows deciding to reboot in the middle of a game. I also had issues with Windows 10 updating drivers on it's own. In particular I had a crackling issue with Intel HD video drivers, it would interfere with my audio and cause crackling and random system lockups while playing RS2014.
  19. What version of Windows? If Win 7 or 8 you can try adding an exception in DEP (Data Execution Prevention) for Rocksmith2014.exe I won't go into how to do it here, it's very easy to do http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Change-Data-Execution-Prevention-settings?SignedIn=1 Otherwise check in Programs and Features (select show updates) for recently installed Windows updates. Two posters that are reporting the issue attempted to run after Tuesday (Windows Update day), I am assuming this was first run since an update. If updates were installed after last known working run of Rocksmith I'd uninstall those updates and attempt to run Rocksmith again, if it works go into Windows updates and begin to manually install updates one to three at a time testing Rocksmith after each update install. This will allow you to isolate which update is interfering. This of course assumes it is a Windows Update issue. If it were me, I'd try DEP first if it works you can leave it, your system will work just fine though I would still need to track down the reason for the sudden change.
  20. UPlay is quite hit or miss, of 7 days straight playing I'll have nights where it takes 20 minutes to get into my UPlay acct.
  21. Rename dlc folder to dlc-bak create new dlc folder empty. Start RS2014 once fully in GOTO Learn A Song, close out RS, delete empty dlc folder rename dlc-bak to dlc and start RS2014. See firekorn post here about DLL placement. http://customsforge.com/topic/25877-cdlc-not-working/?do=findComment&comment=201445 includes screenshot of where dll should be. Also ensure DLL name is "D3DX9_42.dll" exactly wihtout quotes mind case of letters as well. If this gets you nowhere, please post back and we can look at file association extensions. Please post a screen cap of your root RS folder.
  22. Ok Im playing on a Toshiba laptop model P55w-c5204 it has Intel Graphics chip the 5500 series and Windows 10, my crashes were due to a recent update of this driver fix to resolve was uninstallation from Programs and Software. Issue resolved after that. Thought it may help someone else with same issue.
  23. I take it you are placing CDLC songs into the dlc folder within RS?
  24. Had a friend that used to laugh at me back in the early 90's when booming car stereos were just becoming a thing, I kept ear plugs in his glovebox and wore em while in his car. He can't hear a thing today. I have had some hearing loss due to age, but hearing is worth protecting.
  25. Pixies Squeeze Metallica Static X Ramones Misfits Me First and the Gimme Gimmes Job For A Cowboy
