  1. @@abteen --I have had much the same guitar learning experience. For me its been on and off 5 years of trying to learn to play music, but you also have to have chops. So of course, we think scales, modes and exercise regimens will get you there. It doesn't. I've tried Lick Library dvd's and Utube instructors. Up until I got Rocksmith 2014 on release day, I still couldn't play worth a crap. Not even one song. Just a few parts and licks. The genius of RS2014, at least for me, is it puts all the things I needed to learn in the proper context for me to learn. I've gotten better in the last 4 1/2 months, than I did in 5 1/2 years of struggling alone, without a mentor. I am most definitely addicted to Rocksmith, and plan on rocking out as long as my hands can play a guitar. @@mrmaton --- I've played through my guitar rack and cab maybe once since getting RS 2014. The sound and touch is very different back through the live gear. Takes getting used to again. It would be great if we could play RS2014 through the live gear with high quality stereo sound though.
  2. Lol I thought I did ok. You are the better player, but I have a secret weapon. I've only been learning to play songs 4 1/2 months. Sooner or later, I will force you to play 99%, and then you will get a record deal and become famous. Take that.
  3. Trying Somebody to Love this week. First run through a few min ago. Have fun all. http://i1365.photobucket.com/albums/r745/Kasnitch/Rocksmith2014Week22-QueenSomeonetoLove732_zps481b06bf.jpg
  4. good work all!! some very nice scores put up so far.
  5. I used to have an Ibanez RGT42DX with an FR style trem back in 2007. Up here it cost me $700 after haggling with several mom/pop "music" stores. For a beginner not a bad guitar to learn on. Set neck, net lock, jumbo frets, thin U neck, fine tuning adjustors. Needed tuning up about every hour or so...... if you never used the trem, even for a bit of vibrato. One dive bomb and you were re tuning instantly. I'm a firm believer that serious commitment into learning a skill requires good or great tools. IE a passion for playing music. Once I knew that I was on the road to playing the rest of my life, after struggling for several years and making slow but enjoyable progress, then it was time to get proper instruments and gear. I did over a year of research and bought an ESP Horizon with Original FR trem, in early 2010. It cost me $2500.00 and believe me when I say, they are f'ing amazing. The guitar was setup perfect out of the box, and the trem is still perfect to this day. I've been using the same set of Elixir nanoweb strings for over a year. Once the strings were broken in and stretched out, which was very little time, compared to other brands, I rarely have had to tune the strings at all. I sit down to practice and check the tuning with my Snark. I check it. It rarely needs fine adjustment, except when the inside humidity changes, since its been a long and bitter winter up here. This is a vid of Chappers on Utube back in 2009 playing the style of Horizon that I ended up purchasing, largely based on videos of him playing the hell of them them and loving it. http://youtu.be/17HoA2HPgU4 The only guitars IMHO that are better than the Japanese ESP's, are PRS. I had a 2011 Studio for 6 months, then had to sell because of life stuff. That one cost $3500.00, and was clearly a superb instrument, and honestly, beyond my ability to play at its potential. PRS designed and makes all the guitar and hardware electronics, or at least used to. Once you determine that guitar is now part of your life, and the commitment is there, do your research and buy quality that will last you a lifetime. You will never regret it.
  6. I was using those for several years when they came out. Until I found Elixir Nanoweb . I have been using the same strings for over a year and they still sound and play great. I was wearing out a set of Blue Steel in a month. http://www.elixirstrings.com/MungoBlobs/606/986/electric12077-front133.png I use 9-42 strings only. Both my Horizons came set up for those gauges and there are no luthiers or skillful techs for hundreds of miles up north where I live.
  7. I went back through the song after a couple Rocksmith reboots to make certain... the volume drops right off in a couple spots later in the song, and notes stop appearing on the scroll way for one section also. I hope you get a good one this week Krazyone :) I'll use this week to hopefully put up Knights of Cydonia on the tube and start working on Unnatural Selection. LoL I am upping my Knights of Cydonia already. I had a nice streak playing blind in Master Mode, even though I only scored 95%.

  9. I am going to have to withdraw for this week. The November Rain custom is not working properly on my computer. I tuned to Eb standard, but the chord names and chord positions are confusing the hell out of me. As the song starts a B chord is shown to be played but the tab shown and sound is for a Cmaj chord. Then the scroll shows an E chord is next, and the tab notes and sound is an F chord. Too confusing for me. Sorry about that.
  10. @Krazyone Does the song selection list get updated every Saturday to reflect a new weeks choice by us? I want to play November Rain - Master Class please. Not because I think I'm master class capable. Rather, because I watched the video of November Rain was almost overwhelmed with emotion and memories. Conversely, while respecting the talent of most of the musicians in Led Z., I must confess to a life long dislike of Mr. Plantes shrill voice.
  11. I use yellow Dava sure grip nylon picks. I've used all the other Dava picks lines including materials: delrin, metal, gel ---> used Dunlops nylons', classic and tortex. Planet waves picks, stone picksand even one of Rick Nielsen's picks from a concert waaaay back. Nothing does it for me like a Dava. :-P That could be a good ad slogan. copyright2014KasnitchInc.
  12. @Krazyone ... thank you for the kind words.... glad to be here and having fun with it. I will be entering again.
  13. I have been trying to get my entry image uploaded, using Photo bucket as an online resource. Never had to use an on-line image storage site before. I hope this code works finally. Loved the song, and am going to up the video this afternoon on my Utube account= Kasnitch . I've tried to learn guitar for over 5 years from tabs and Utube "instruction" video, with the only result being scale and chord jumping practice for years. Pathetic. I couldn't play ONE song all the way through with skill. I sadly never heard of the original Rocksmith. Am I pissed about that. Since getting RS2014 on release day and working with it for the last 4 months, I have progressed beyond my wildest expectations, and I'm still getting better every month. I never thought I was able enough to play something as beautiful and busy as Resistance. For me, this was the most difficult song to achieve 96% or better in MMode. Let alone doing it in 5 days. I'm a 57 yo lanky cranky former underground develpment miner. Rocksmith 2014, is nothing short of epic and I pray they keep improving on it for years to come. http://i1365.photobucket.com/albums/r745/Kasnitch/Muse-ResistanceWeek2096A140Str_zps455be8a6.jpg
  14. I found this site and joined last weekend. I signed up for my first shot at joining the fun. Can anyone tell me when you require the screenshot posted ? ie Friday sometime or Saturday at a specific time? I picked Resistance and want as much time as possible to improve my score. Turns out I really enjoy this song, although I've never had to learn so much in less than a week. Pretty sure my guitar skills are going to improve even more than Rocksmith 2014 has already trained me, entering a regular "do your best in one week", format. Thanks to all for making this possible. Lastly, is it ok to participate when I would like to? At this point I'm getting saturated with all the hours I've put in, and until I can learn new songs faster, I may only be able to do one every 2 weeks at this point.
  15. 45% session mode - at least an hour warming up and learning modes 50% learn a song using riff repeater 4% lessons 1% score attack
