  1. Update: Tried a re-install over the weekend and I'm still in the same spot. It's such a weird problem. The game is completely playable, but all my guitar tones are just way over distorted. Oh well. I'll just deal with it since it's still playable, but thank you again for all the suggestions and attempt at helping!
  2. Not sure why, but I wasn't up to date until just now. Went to the in game Gain Control, took it all the way down to -8 and I'm still getting the same level. How weird.
  3. From the main menu of the game, press "Space" for Tools. Then go to "Options" and then "Audio Settings". You'll find "Real Tone Cable Gain" as the last option on that screen. The game will make you recalibrate immediately if you make any changes to the real tone cable gain. Ahh, that's not in my options. I'm on v160.234017 perhaps I need to update my game then try everything again?
  4. Did you try recalibrating your guitar inside the game? I would suggest resetting everything to the default settings (in the options menu), checking the level of the Real Tone Cable Gain inside the game (I believe 3.1db is the default) and then recalibrating your guitar (from the Tuner screen). Well now I feel really stupid as I don't know how to change the Cable Gain inside the game lol. I just went in and looked all around the settings and couldn't find it anywhere. What am I missing? BTW, I did try putting everything back to default settings but that didn't help.
  5. Now things are getting weird lol. I did what you said but couldn't hear my guitar at all. When I ran Rocksmith, I could still hear it fine. So I backed out of RS, switched USB ports and tried to "Listen To This Device". This time, the guitar sounded perfect and clean through the PC speakers. So I loaded RS and ended up in the same boat. This is the oddest/dumbest thing I've ever encountered with a PC and I've seen a lot of dumb shit lol Well it doesn't sound like your lead has a permanent fault , perhaps an intermittent one ? In your position the only thing I would do is uninstall the cables driver and reinstall it. Let me know how you get on. No dice on uninstalling/reinstalling the driver. I have a busy weekend coming up. After that's over, I may just resort to reinstalling the game from scratch and seeing what happens. Thanks again though.
  6. Yet another good idea I wouldn't have thought of. I will try this later today and report back. Even if it doesn't work, I just want to say thanks again for the effort.

  8. I happen to have another PC in the house that we just restored so we could sell it. I was actually considering trying to install it on there to see what happens. I haven't tried any other guitar software because I was scared installing something might further screw up my situation. Is there a program you'd recommend me trying just to see what's up? Both guitars have passive pick-ups btw. I appreciate the reply though, thank you.
  9. Sorry to create a thread on this, but I've truly looked all over the internet and cannot seem to find a solution. Rocksmith 2014 has been working perfectly for me for months, then all of a sudden last week I developed a crazy distortion issue. Both of my guitars just seem WAY too loud now, so much so that even clean tones sound distorted. I've tried everything I can think of in the way of messing with the levels in the game as well as the levels within the Windows sound controls. Nothing is working and it's extremely frustrating. I'm not getting any sort of message from the game saying my input is too loud. The tuner and in game notes are recognized just fine, but the sound of the guitars themselves are just way more distorted than they should be. To be clear, I'm not getting the "robotic sound" from the game as a whole. I got that originally, but was able to fix it via editing the .ini file. After I did that initially, I had great sound with little lag until this latest issue popped up a week ago or so. I'm running the latest RealTek drivers on Windows 10 and as I said, I've searched all around the web to no avail. I'm hoping someone here might have any idea how to help. Thanks for any and all suggestions.
  10. This is the same thing happening to me. Prior to the Win10 upgrade, I was able to run with Latency Engine set to 2 which was awesome because I had zero lag. Now after the upgrade, I have to change it to 4 which causes a very slight delay. I would love to find a fix.
  11. First post here and I wanted to ask this exact quesiton. Glad I poked around prior to starting a thread for it :)
