Note: If you are intending on using Custom DLCs on a PS3 or XBox, you MUST jailbreak your console first! Hacking or jailbreaking a console is beyond the scope of what we are doing here, and if you are not comfortable with doing it, you may want to simply buy the PC version of the game. JUST PLAY IT ! 3. OK, so after watching the video tutorial on making CLDC's made by @@SkepticSquid here: http://customsforge.com/topic/841-how-to-make-cdlc-full-in-depth-tut-completed/ some of us still have difficulties so I thought that a non-video tutorial with screenshots and text instead might also be helpful, let's start: I've divided everything into 6 sections, some of them are currently in progress, but in the end you will be able to make your own customs for Rocksmith 2014. Here's the basic table of contents: PrepairingWorkload directoryGetting tools and setting them upGetting the resources - tabs, album artActual workWorking with EoFWorking with WWiseWorking with Custom Song Creator Toolkit for RocksmithSummary and thanksSo, enjoy, comment and have fun. And watch that first :D https://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXvCkcGyJC8 P.S. I'm eager to help each one of you but in order to do so we must be using the same environment, so follow every step from this tutorial exactly, because this is how my environment is currently set up. 4. Hi, folks. I'll be using this thread to maintain the latest versions of EOF in one place. To start, download and extract EOF 1.8RC12: http://www.mediafire.com/file/ih70h6p67iy77ka/eof1.8RC12.zip You can keep that zip file handy to avoid downloading it more than once. When I release a new hotfix, all you have to do is replace the files from the above zip file with the ones from the hotfix. The latest hotfix (9-26-2020) is here: https://www.mediafire.com/file/6xzg32k4a9gqwxs/eof_hotfix_%289-26-2020_4%29.zip/file *If you use a non QWERTY US English keyboard layout, and keyboard controls/shortcuts aren't working for you, please make a post describing what keyboard shortcuts aren't working, and what the Info panel says the "CODE" and "ASCII" values are after you use each of the keyboard controls in question. I can make Mac releases and will try to post one with each Windows release, but my ability to do so is sometimes limited. If I don't get around to releasing a Mac build you want, just remind me to do so. The latest Mac build (9-26-2020) is here: http://ignition.customsforge.com/eof/download/487 Unless you have oggenc and LAME installed (these don't come with the Mac build for licensing reasons), you won't be able to have EOF automatically convert from MP3 to OGG when you create a new chart. If you have trouble getting those set up on your system, here is a package that should get them installed and usable by EOF: http://www.t3-i.com/apps/eof/downloads/eof_utilities.pkg Please provide any and all feedback, including bugs and feature requests. If possible, also please review the included documentation (manual, tutorials) and let me know if you find any room for improvement there. Eventually I plan to add a Rocksmith authoring section to the pro guitar tutorial, but the community's knowledge of the Rocksmith songs' makeup changes pretty quickly so it's hard to know when particular features are considered fully known. For any features that ARE fully known (like anchors), please feel free to remind me if they aren't incorporated into EOF yet, in case I missed any information being passed around on this forum or the Google group. Note: If you are reporting a bug, please specify which hotfix (date) you're using. I release hotfixes on a somewhat random schedule, sometimes more than once per day, so the issue being reported may have been fixed in a release you haven't tried yet.

  5. How to Use Custom DLC (CDLC) on Mac (2023 Update) The following instructions are for Rocksmith 2014 Remastered, with the latest update installed. These instructions may not work for older versions or pirated versions of the game, and I will provide no support for pirated versions. Please buy the game and support the developer. Without the game, we would have nothing to play customs with anyway. Download the patch here : https://github.com/aik002/RSBypass/releases/download/1.8pre2/RSBypass.zip Video instruction : To convert PC customs to Mac version : https://github.com/glebb/rocksmithconvert/releases/download/2.2.0/RSConvert_GUI-2.2.zip Here are all the steps (read them carefully) : Your user account needs to be an Administrator account. Download the Rocksmith Patch: https://github.com/aik002/RSBypass/releases/download/1.8pre2/RSBypass.zip Unzip the patch file and double-click on "RUN_PATCH_RS.command" to run the patch. This will patch the Rocksmith 2014 app file to allow cDLC's to work. **If you encounter a permissions error, see the note below** Download the customs you want. Make sure they end in "_m.psarc". If they end in "_p.psarc" they are PC only versions and will need to be converted with the Toolkit. I'll put instructions for that down below. Place the customs in the dlc folder. The location is: ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Rocksmith2014 It is a hidden folder, so the easiest way to find it is to open Finder, and using the "Go" menu, select "Go To Folder" and paste the location in there. You can then drag the dlc folder to your sidebar to create a permanent link. You can also find the folder by opening Steam and going to your games library and right-clicking on Rocksmith 2014, and choosing "Properties". Select the "Local Files" tab and click on "Browse Local Files" Launch Rocksmith 2014 by either opening Steam and running it from "Library", or launch it from the Mac Launchpad by clicking on "Rocksmith 2014" Say goodbye to your family, friends, and free time. You won't be seeing any of them for a while. **If you encounter a permissions error while running the patch: Right-click on the patch and select "Get Info" Under "Sharing & Permissions", make sure that all users listed have "Read & Write" permissions. If they do not, click the small lock icon in the bottom right corner to allow the permissions to be changed, and enter your Admin password. Then select each user that needs to be changed and alter the permissions. Repeat for the other two files needed for the patch ("insert_dylib" and "libRYBypass.dylib") Updated 2023/11/01, confirmed to work until Sonoma OS.

  7. Hey all, I just wanted to let everyone know we're still making huge progress with our future projects. A few things we are working on: Ignition: This is our new front-end we've been working on. It will have all of these functions built in: Search, Requests, an area just for CDLC Creators (tutorials, upload and manage songs, and more). We've been working hard on Ignition and at this moment it's taking up most of our time. Another project we're working on that I would like to announce officially is a Song Manager program for our users. You will be able to finally manage all of your DLC. We'll have more information about this project in the coming months. I personally want to thank all of our staff for making all of this possible, and the community for the continued support.

  8. Post all your CDLC requests here. Since we no longer have the "Popular" Request system, you can now post them in this, and only in this, topic! NOTICE. Posting a request here does not mean that someone will make it. Spamming the same song over and over will get you suspended. This is not a demand area. The Charters that post their CDLC on CF do so because they want to. You cannot force them to make your song. Do not send PM's to every single charter asking for your song to be made. Basically this is a dumping ground for your requests and nothing more.

  10. Say hello to our new CDLC Orphanage. From now on if we find a download link that is broken and the user hasn't been online for 90+ days. We'll update the download links and change the charter to CDLC Orphanage. In the release notes we will make a note of who the original charter is, the date of when the CDLC was put into the orphanage and the member of staff who send the CDLC into the orphanage. If the original charter returns he can get the CDLC out of the orphanage without any problems. CDLC in the orphanage are also up for adoption. If a magna charter want's to adopt one of the songs. just send a message to the member of staff that is named in the release notes and the CDLC will be in your hands. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them here.

  11. As you are fully aware by now CustomsForge was completely down for over 24 hours due to a catastrophic backup failure. We worked with our host (Linode) to resolve this but unfortunately, it took 10 hours to just restore the files. We have a lot of upgrades for CustomsForge and we will be working on adding more fail safes to prevent problems like this happening in the future. As we grow into a bigger website we must evolve, and to do so we must upgrade our forums and ignition. During our upgrades, we ran into several problems, and unfortunately we learned about them days after. We were forced to roll back to a backup we took on March 5th. We still need to do these upgrades but we will be working closely with our board software support staff this time to fix the bug that caused these issues. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to ask us on our discord. We will be attempting these upgrades again, but in a different method which will reduce any future downtime if any problem was to occur again. (Example would be 30-minute downtime~ instead of 24 hours) (p.s. if my wording sounds weird, I've been working on this non-stop for 24 hours trying to get this fixed for you guys, no sleep until I made sure our community is fixed! #exhausting) - Mark

  12. Congratulations everyone! We've made it one year! I picked up rocksmith and started making customs a few months before with a very good friend of mine named Alex (aka Shinyditto12). We decided to team up and make Chevelle, Tool, and Alice in Chains customs together. It was a fun project where we racked up over 100 CDLCs together. You can view our original collaboration document here: http://goo.gl/jM4xte I decided to make this website when our predecessor went down where I hosted my customs and there was no other custom website to turn to. I was messaged by Ally (not to be confused with my fiancee, Alyx) a friend of ours, at around 6 AM in the morning that the predecessor was no more. I’ve been wanting to run a long-term project for years. I quickly decided to make a new forum/search and invited users over. I noticed in the Rocksmith Custom community that it could be done so much better, with so many features it was currently lacking. It started with a simple new install of phpbb, donations rolled in, I put in $500 to help jumpstart us. Donations kept rolling in and I used them for domain name, IP Board + Addons License and more. Our community kept growing and I know I created something awesome. @ created the initial integration, then we acquired the skills of @@hdnsmbt and merged his project with ours. That’s the beginning story of CustomsForge. Something we all should be proud of. Magfest 2015 A milestone this year was our appearance in the form of a panel about custom songs in music video games. CustomsForge Developer @@zerkz represented on the panel, talking about the community, and the process of making customs. You can watch the video here: We also had a Rocksmith setup for a few days where people came to jam with us! Hopefully we will see you there next year! This wouldn’t be possible without you, the community! All the charters creating songs. Ignition Search + Comments Our goal is to have ignition use a separate database and comment system. This will still be tied to your username but everything will be handled under ignition. Our ultimate goal is ignition to be the ultimate place for Rocksmith Customs. To learn how to do it with step-by-step guides, to our new request system, and our advanced search features. With ignition you’ll be able to do the following: Step by step guide on how to create customs. (Ran into a problem? The FAQ Tutorial system will guide you on what to do) Links to Editor on Fire & Rocksmith Toolkit Submit requests, view current requests and search requests Search and filter CDLC in every way you can imagine, upload and edit CDLC you created, view and manage your collection of downloaded CDLC, get notifications on new or updated CDLC New front-page with charts (top downloads per week, etc) Comment on new CDLC and get better feedback & more! CustomsForge Song Manager (CFSM) I’m proud to announce we have made amazing progress with our new desktop app. We plan on releasing a beta test later, and a website to download the application from. Current features completed: View all of your custom songs (Artist, Song, Album, Last Updated, Tuning, DD, Arrangements, & CDLC Author Find duplicate songs. (Have two copies of War Pigs by Black Sabbath?! Find and fix it!) Launch Rocksmith via the Steam Shortcut built in Backup your Rocksmith Profile Export Song List via CSV or BBCode Search through your CDLC http://i.imgur.com/o3Dda7l.png (Please note this is an alpha screenshot and will not have to reflect on the final product) More features & a beta release announcement coming soon! We have additional announcements coming throughout the year, make sure to stay tuned! As always remember to support ubisoft by purchasing official products (Rocksmith 2014, Rocksmith 1 + import, official cord, and any official DLC releases). Thank you ubisoft for making such an awesome game that we all learn and love. Thanks again everyone for making this happen! https://www.facebook.com/customsforge https://www.twitter.com/customsforge

I developed Game Saves Gigbox to make backup, transfer, repair, reset, snyc, and create new game saves much easier. The official release is here towards bottom of page, included as part of the Custom Game Toolkit program. Just look for the Game Saves menu tab when you run the program. Feature List Backup - make a backup copy (*.bak) of game save files before you have problems. (Hint: remove .bak extension to restore.) Backup option now includes support for creating CDLC playlists.Transfer - move game save from one computer to another.Repair - auto fix corrupt game saves. I do personalized game save repairs if auto fix does not work. You can send a games save repair request along with the link to your corrupt game save here ... I have a 100% repair success rate.Reset - selectively restore game save settings to defaults or clear them all together. Use it to reset DD and others.Sync - synchronize the game save with currently installed CDLC. Removes references to CDLC in the game save that are no longer installed, speeds up loading and reduces crashing. Be sure to remove unused CDLC before running this.New - Create a new default game save, or split an existing multiplayer save into separate single player saves.New features - Look for the "Statalog" tab menu Custom Song Catalog (CDLC File Manager) - catalogs CDLC files by File Name, Author, Title, Album, Year, DD, GUID into CSV file format. Check the GUID field to find duplicates that can cause game crashes.Player Stats and Song Stats - in CSV file format (Excel compatible). Improved error checking and performance.Latest upgrade - Look for the new "CDLC Manager" tab menu CDLC File Manager GUI (with advanced CDLC corruption detection and reporting)Improved processing of CDLC songsQuickly find and delete duplicate CDLC files that are causing those pesky game crashes and hangs. Added option to move or delete duplicates.Tips to avoid game save corruption: Do not exit, quit or abort the game in any way other than following the in-game prompts to quit .Never shut off your computer while the game is loaded.Never attempt to modify/add CDLC files while the game is loaded.Never attempt to modify any other game files (such as *.ini) while the game is loaded.Never be the first to try new untested CDLC. 75% of corrupt game saves are caused by CDLC that are already on the List of Crashers, jammers, dead toners, and MISC problems.Minimize the number of CDLC files that are installed. Do you really need over 1500 CDLC arrangements loaded? Backup and remove ones that are not played then use the Game Saves Gigbox - Sync feature.Be patient while the game loads and shut downs properly. Thanks to @pcsmith for his detailed post at http://rsmods.oakey-dev.eu about file formats. Special thanks to all the CST developers and to cabalistic for inspiration. 14. Project to gather, organize and standardize, and improve exercise customs Rules recommended 1. Arrangement is in "Lead", and bonus/alternate arrangements 2. Tuning is E-Standard (except for special situations, like 5string Bass) 3. Exercises should list together in RS14, sorted by Artist "You" display under "Y", not overloaded letter. "You Bass" for Bass only Exercises "You Artist" for Exercises by Artists "You Riff" for practical Exercises 5. 15. For any comment regarding the content, please do it here : Last Edition the 27th of June 2023 I.Software 1. Editor On Fire (EOF) It is the core of where the magic happens, it was created as a companion to Frets On Fire quite some time ago to allow users to create their own charts and has evolved a lot since then to allow the creation of compatible customs songs for the Guitar Hero games, Phase Shift, Bandfuse, Rock Band and of course Rocksmith and Rocksmith 2014 Remastered or not. You can find this software over at : https://ignition4.customsforge.com/eof (You will need full release + hotfix) 2. DLC Builder Without it, things would be a bit more complicated, it automates the whole packaging process and creates all of the files that are needed for Rocksmith to be able to read and play everything according to plan. It involves a lot to properly translate the files from EOF to the proper file format that Rocksmith can then interpret correctly. It also add Dynamic Difficulty as well as some quality check and is the place to manage tones. You can find this software over at : https://github.com/iminashi/Rocksmith2014.NET/releases 3. WWise Rocksmith uses the WWise file format for reading and navigating through audio files, so we will need it to convert our OGG files to the WEM format. Luckily the DLC Builder does it all on his own properly but we still need to have the software to do the encoding (like you would need the Lame encoder to encode in MP3). You can download the 2021 installer from here : https://ignition4.customsforge.com/tools/wwise The DLC Builder support WWise 2019 and 2021. 4. Other tools that can be quite useful a. Vocals synchronisation I would suggest using Ultra Star Creator because it has a practical interface and it allows you to quickly and simply sync vocals to the audio and then import them without any issues into EOF : https://sourceforge.net/projects/usc/ An alternate lyrics editor that offer a more visual approach is YASS though it is suggested to work from an existing MIDI file that has the vocal melody : https://yass-along.com/ You can also find existing lyrics file from the UltraStar Database (free account is required) : https://usdb.animux.de/ b. Guitar tab editing software I personally use Guitar Pro to edit and make adjustments to the tab that I will later import into EOF, but EOF can edit the tab too. I just find most parts of the tab editing process to be easier in Guitar Pro than in EOF. That is really a personal matter and I won’t talk about how to use Guitar Pro or Tux Guitar (for those who prefer a free Linux compatible tab editor in this whole tutorial. Just be aware that TUX doesn't correctly export the special techniques that Rocksmith can use the same way Guitar Pro does, meaning you'll have to add them in manually within EOF). I still prefer that people know they can use a different tool to do part of the tab editing, instead of being locked in a software they might not find practical. http://www.tuxguitar.com.ar/ https://www.guitar-pro.com/

  16. -= HOW TO BUILD A PROFESSIONAL ROCKSMITH Plug´n´Play USB / BT FLOORBOARD FOR TONECHANGE for less than 30$/€ =- Latest Update: 20.01.2015 http://i59.tinypic.com/29o51jd.jpg This video is just a proof of concept, it is gonna edit: might, with a chance of slim to none be replaced by a better one as soon as my hardware hell has vanished … sigh… Features (V2.0):KEYBOARD INTERFACE – works as standard Keyboard – no special drivers, software or hacks neededPLUG AND PLAY for Windows and MacUSB or BLUETOOTH ver. available.EASY TO BUILD - ONLY 5 Wires to SOLDERCHEAPINGAME TONESWITCH everywhere (LAS, SA, SESSION MODE, MENU….)http://i59.tinypic.com/29o51jd.jpg You want one of those – Here is the DIY HOW TO: Needed: 4 Button Floorboard of your choice (no matter what connector it has) (20€ +)A USB or BT Keyboard (use an old or get a defective one (Keys 1,2,3,4 gotta be working) (0-25€)Soldering stuff incl.5 thin wires (e.g. an old IDE Cable)Multimeter (optional but makes it easier)A screwdriverGaffer TapeA textmarker (for cd labeling)http://i62.tinypic.com/390xy.jpg Difficulty: easy If you have sucessfully soldered anything before – you´re gonna do it for sureIf you have never soldered anything before – thats a rather easy task to start offTime: A few hours or less (my second version was done from scratch in 30 mins) So here we go! Grab your Keyboard (The HP one i used has a small interface that will fit in almost any footswitch, a long enough cable and a matrix that is easy to follow – hence the used button wiring is easy to determine). -Unscrew and open it. http://i58.tinypic.com/f00ua0.jpg As in my pics below mark the buttons 1-4 (not on numpad) . When you lift the rubber layer you see the wiring matrix. Short explanation of keyboard function: 2 matrixes with wires – when pressed together = 2 pins on the interface board are connected and thats the buttons signal. So – mark the buttons you wanna use on both layers of the matrix (waterproof marker for cd labeling works good) Optional: if you have extra switches on the floorboard you might wanna use extra keys like: Enter, Esc, Up, Down – if so – mark them too! http://i57.tinypic.com/eq1htt.jpg Now for the hardest (not really) part: Go to Button 1 and follow the wires (white lines) on both matrixes to the interface board. Double check, you can follow them with different color textmarkerst to make sure, but that shouldnt be needed, and is way too professional for my way of doing stuff like that ;) Now you should have found the two pins on the interface board that handle „1“ (Alternative: search gxxgle for schematics / pinout dor your specific keyboard) To test: - I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR DAMAGED HARDWARE OF YOURS - Connect the usb plug to your computer, open a texteditor and shortcut the two pins that you have marked on the interface board – best with a multimeter set to resistance (ohm). Alt: use a piece of cable. If everything is right – the text editor says: 1 – aint that great ! Now go on – follow the wires of button 2, 3 and 4 (and the extra buttons you might want) It is very probable that you find a common ground for 1-4, so you should have five pins marked (i call em 1-4 and 0). If there is no common ground = 8 pins determined (2 for each key) - no problem - read below! http://i57.tinypic.com/10cixk5.jpg Test all buttons the way above and if everything is ok you are ready to: OPEN THE FLOORBOARD: http://i60.tinypic.com/w7cs34.jpg The board is gonna look a bit different for you unless you have the same 1st gen line 6 fb to work on... Nevertheless - what you are searching for are the two pins for each buttons that are connected by a press on the button. The easiest way to find those is using a multimeter set to resistance (ohm) - adress 2 suspected pins - press the button and if the number on screen goes to 0 - these are the 2 pins to solder! Furthermore: Check if there is a common ground (connection) between the individual buttons with the multimeter ("0" on screen means pins are connected and hence only one of them has to be wired to the ground of the keyboard interface)... This is very probable, however if not (no "common ground" on fb board) you have 2 options: #1 (recomended) connect one of the "to solder" pins of each button by soldering with the next one so only one of them has to be wired to "0" on keyboard interface. (see schematic diag 2) #2 connect one of the "to solder" pins of each button by soldering with common ground of the keyboard interface - that way 8 wires to be soldered from kb interface to fbboard instead of 5. If there is no "common ground" on kb interface, but you find 2 different pins for each key 1-4 just solder the 2 pins to the 2 pins of the fitting button in the floorboard board - in this cas you need to solder 8 wires (no problem) If you have problems at any point pm me, post a pic of your situation, believe me - it is not gonna be so hard, i´m gonna help you. When you are done you have: - The pins on the floorboard to be wired - the according pins on the keyboard interface sending "1" - "4" WIRING Solder the according pins (there are excellent youtube vids how to solder if you never have) @@Frack 's little tips for this : >>The parallels contacts material you'll solder is copper covered with a carbon like stuff. you can remove this carbon by using the FLAT part of one screwdriver or a blade, take care to don't scratch the copper though. This carbon is a pain in the a.. to solder (try on one unused contact first) go very gently with several passes. Once the copper is visible & clean put some solder in it, the differents parallels contacts should not be short circuited, if it happends, heat the solder along the copper to minimise the quantity. put some solder on the end of the wires & heat both when in contact, blow on it to accelerate the cooler process. take care to not overheat the board or the added wires (as they are very thin) any telecom/computer wire is ok for this.<< If you look at my pics you can see that i did some scratching on the kb interface pins, put some solder on and got a nice result with that. Here a principal schematic diagram: http://i62.tinypic.com/2wlsd8n.jpg The black dots are the common ground on the fb board = they show a resistance of zero when tested against each other - hence only one of them has to be wired to common ground on keyboard interface. Schematic diagram 2 (no common ground on fb board) http://i58.tinypic.com/3008jk1.jpg connect pins 1-4 by soldering and check with multimeter(ohm): pin 1 against 4: = zero = success Schematic diagram 3 (no common ground on keyboard interface): http://i62.tinypic.com/2568gns.jpg so if you found 2 pins for each key 1-4 (instead of 1 for each and a common ground = 5) you gotta solder 8 wires instead of 5 as shown above, meaning that the pins with the same color on kb int connected = keypress. http://i62.tinypic.com/2bd0yx.jpg http://i59.tinypic.com/rqyk4w.jpg http://i60.tinypic.com/wsehg.jpg http://i59.tinypic.com/2ahytfp.jpg http://i60.tinypic.com/2po9icz.jpg finally - http://i57.tinypic.com/n133gp.jpg TESTING Plug in to USB on PC/Mac or connect with bluetooth - http://i57.tinypic.com/25yuq85.jpg start text editor, press the buttons - when you get: http://i61.tinypic.com/hvnrx0.jpg you might have to recheck :) if you get: http://i61.tinypic.com/2lw8y81.jpg it´s good If a button press results in multiple inputs (e.g. you press Button 1 and "134" is the output) This is most probably a result of the conections on the board. If you don´t want to go into detail of the wiring of your board you might have to do the following: http://i62.tinypic.com/ay1du.jpg Just cut the lines leading away from your "to solder" pins with a flat screwdriver for each button. This stops the fb from working with the amp it was designed for, but it can be rewinded by a simple solder point easily if ever needed. Test again! FINISHING !!!!!!!UNPLUG!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fit the keyboard interface into your fb, make sure there is no short circuiting (easiest way - cover whole thing with gaffer tape !!!) http://i59.tinypic.com/1fhd8p.jpg please take a little more time than i obviously did here :) http://i61.tinypic.com/35ksw0l.jpg I had to drill a hole to make the cable fit - i left the original connector on the other side as it was - so it can still be used with line 6 equipment :) http://i61.tinypic.com/214w0h2.jpg Test again! ROCK If you like it HIT THANKS If you need support pm me – i´ll assist you. YOU HAVE TO POST A PIC or VID of your FINISHED PROJECT IN THIS THREAT!!!! Regards, R

  17. Welcome to my workshop! I see tabs so I make CDLC out of tabs. This is not every anime song on CF, just all the songs I have made. I have included and credited other cdlc underneath the same shows for conciseness and also included some customs I really like. Ignition is the way to go when searching for specific entries or mass downloading. If any of my work has brought you joy, i do have a kofi, but please do not feel obligated to donate at all. EDIT (04/21): After Customforge's migration all the links have died Please resort to using the ignition search engine to find songs! ABOUT REQUESTS Feel free to leave your desires below. If you provide gp5/ptb tabs along with your request I'd be happy to deliver! However, a lot of great songs may not have any; good tabs are not easy to make and are very time consuming as well. Most of the time I end up tabbing out the songs myself but if you request a song I have no interest in playing or have never even heard of, it would be highly unlikely for it to come to fruition. If you also show no basic courtesy I will ignore you. However, it's guaranteed you'll see a steady flow of (probably) great music regardless. Happy playing! 19. We're aware the website has been slow. After doing an analysis we have found we are under a constant DDoS attack. We have adjusted some settings on CloudFlare and some additional backend fixes. I apologize for the slowness and we're working on making CustomsForge even better.

  20. CustomsForge Newsletter (Issue 1 | Aug 2018) Hey all, I apologize for the late response I've been working my ass off at a few temporary jobs. Thank you for reading this update! I'm going to discuss a few things here: DDoS Attack & Discord Raid Lately, we've been targeted via Discord "raids" (where bots spam our discord) and DDoS attacks. Our amazing team of Administrators and Moderators have been keeping an eye on this and have been resolving these issues as they occur. Unfortunately, I don't know why we are being targeted. We will keep an eye on this and work on fixing it asap. Accidental Suspension The website was down a couple days ago due to our server company accidentally suspended our servers for 'late payment' even though it's not due until the end of the month. We reached out to them and corrected this. To make sure it doesn't happen again we're setting up a new donation goal to get it paid off asap. Donation Goal You can donate via https://customsforge.com/index.php/donate/goal-117-end-of-the-month-august-goal/ Any amount helps, thank you! Advertisements We ran a test of the new google ads and saw it was extremely annoying on multiple areas of the website. We've reverted those and are solely using Sovrn for now. If you could whitelist us on your browser it would help a lot! Developer Update The current progress of the rewrite has slowed down but I plan on making sure we speed things up again even if that includes getting more front-end developers on board to help assist. Rule Update on Covers We've updated our rule for CDLC covers of DLC, more info here: https://customsforge.com/index.php/topic/47308-updated-rule-4/ Merch We currently have two stores. One store is for US Customers, and the other store is for international. All of that info is here: https://customsforge.com/index.php/topic/46795-customsforge-merch-international-shipping/?do=findComment&comment=288261 The US store is shirts only, and the international store also ships to the US but has other things like bags, stickers, etc. Updates via Newsletter I plan on creating a monthly update newsletter soon to provide updates on the website, featured CDLC, and more! I'll have more info on this soon as we work on it. The newsletter will still be posted in this section as well. I am considering this issue 1 of the newsletter and we will add more to it in the future. Thanks for reading this update and we're working hard on bringing more features to the website! Keep rockin! \m/ Mark (Unleashed2k) | CustomsForge Founder

  21. Well there it is. Everything from A to Z I could think of. Its done in a step by step process. I will include time codes for skipping stuff you don't wish to watch and getting straight to the stuff that may be unclear. Those will be coming soon.

  22. After receiving numerous requests from people to post the customs that I have been using for experimentation with Violin on Rocksmith, I have uploaded them. If others have created customs for violin, feel free to post links on this thread. Video links might be useful too, if available. WARNING: The BASS chart on these songs is for a REAL VIOLIN! DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TUNE A BASS TO MATCH THE REQUIRED TUNING Tuning instructions: Do NOT use emulated bass. The custom is already coded to expect an instrument tuned to G,D,A,E in the 4th-6th octave, which equates to guitar notes on the 10th fret of A, 12th fret of D, 14th fret of G, and 17th fret of B (12th of E). Customs currently available (PC only): Practice track: Beethoven's Ode to Joy http://www.mediafire.com/download/ghch7t79l3gp93d/Beethoven_Ode-to-Joy_Violin_Only_v1_p.psarc Video Demo (queue to 13:25): Lindsey Stirling: My Immortal (Evanescence Cover) http://www.mediafire.com/download/cfp37a56z4ooa6d/Lindsey-Stirling_My-Immortal-Violin-Only_v2_p.psarc Video Demo (queue to 5:36): Gil Shaham: Paganini's Sonata Concertato in A Major (1st movement) http://www.mediafire.com/download/c2cr9x9pu8491rm/Paganini_Sonata-Concertato-in-A-major-MS-2_I_-Allegro-Spiritoso_v1_p.psarc Video Demo:

  24. Happy Holidays! Before I begin with the announcements/news I want to congratulate all of our users for hitting over 100,000 posts. Additionally we're near to hitting 9,500 songs which is a huge milestone. We're close to hitting 60,000 users. Let's start this off with an update on Ignition. If you're not aware already we've been working on Search 3 (aka Ignition) for awhile now. We've dedicated ourselves to this project and want to bring everyone the greatest search engine for songs. As of today I want to announce that all Magna Charters will be able to beta test the new search soon. After we receive enough feedback and fix any search-breaking bugs we can release it to everyone. Changelog update for Search 2 to Search 3: Please note some of these features may not be included in the beta and released in the future Features not included but are currently being worked on: Introducing our new front page, the Ignition dashboard. This is a work in progress concept that will feature the latest Rocksmith news. Additionally on the left it will display search statistics (that you can set which ones you want) such as Newest CDLC, Recently Updated, Most Downloaded, Top Requests, Newly Fulfilled Requests & Latest Topics. A forum link that goes to the forums is displayed on the main navigation Requests: We're in the process of making requests integrated into the same theme for Ignition. We will release more information in the future. Creators: Creators is another work-in-progress project where users can manage the CDLC they have created. A wiki will be provided where users can provide guides & documentation. We've recently acquired http://rocksmithcustoms.wikispaces.com/and will intergrate this for everyone to use. Additionally links are provided to go to rocksmith toolkit & editor on fire. Search: Here are some screenshots. Please note nothing you see is final and there will be multiple themes released in the future. http://imgur.com/a/KGcuQ Mobile: http://imgur.com/z6X3FGW http://imgur.com/nFgkW8S http://imgur.com/F0F83tp Overview of features: Main search rewritten from scratch. A dedicated area for showing new song updates. Record Overlay displays information about the song before you download. You can also view comments without leaving the page. Mobile friendly search. Out and about? Want to check & save songs to download for later? This is all possible now. Add songs to collection. This allows you to manage the CDLC you have downloaded and it will show any updates. An alternative way to search by using our "browse" feature. View songs grouped by Artists, Albums, Tuning, Member, Added, Updated. Artist view. This is a current feature in search2 ported over. Better filters & search settings. An updated "2014-2015" design which looks and uses modern techniques. & plenty of more features. We're also working on improving the forums to bring a better experience. This will happen next year. There are plenty of more announcements in the future I hope you're looking forward to the future of CustomsForge. We're nearing our 1 year anniversary and I'm excited to see the future changes of our website. Please remember to donate so we can keep this website up. All donations are used for servers, development work, script renewals, and any additional services we use such as Teamspeak.

  25. Originally posted on the Anvil, now linked here. :) ---- I haven't yet seen a simple how-to-use CDLC video guide for RS2014 so I created one. I hope that it's helpful to some. PC only, because I don't have a Mac, PS3, or Xbox. EDIT: Once CustomsForge.com gets fully up and running, I'll probably make a new video that showcases here specifically to replace this old one that has Anvil-specific sequences.

  26. You can download the PDF version of this tutorial here. Credit: Thanks to raynebc for designing and coding the Tech Notes authoring into EoF and for his abundant extremely helpful and timely explanations both online and offline to me for this tutorial as well as performing detailed reviews of drafts of this tutorial. His explanations, upon which this tutorial is based, are often times transcribed verbatim in this tutorial. Whatever text appears in bold green represents text new to the current revision of the Tech Notes Tutorial CHANGE LOG Version 1.0 – 17Feb2014 – Initial Release – EoF Hotfix at time of publishing: 1281 Version 1.1 – 18March2014 – EoF Hotfix at time of publishing: 1306 - Modified Answer 4: -->Tech Notes can no longer define fret or finger definitions since they are not used (as of Hotfix 1299). - Modified Answer 11: --> Removed GP import limitation. Complex Bends now importable as of Hotfix 1300. Added some info about current import limitations. --> Removed limitation to copy over both regular and tech notes simultaneously from one difficulty to another. This is possible as of Hotfix 1296. --> Added information regarding linknext tech note feature, authorable as of Hotfix 1300. --> Added information about the new “Stop” status which is also useable by tech notes as of Hotfix 1300. - Modified Answer #12: --> With EoF auto-adjust feature now moving regular and tech notes alike, it is no longer recommended wait till the end of the authoring process (i.e. after tempo map is locked) to author tech notes. --> Added information about GP import of complex bends --> Added information about “Stop” status defined on tech notes. --> Removed information on how to circumvent previous EoF limitation of copying regular notes and tech notes simultaneously from one difficulty to the next. --> Added information about how moving beat markers either in regular view or tech view will auto-adjust both regular notes and tech notes properly as of Hotfix 1296. - Added a section at the end of the Tutorial entitled “Community-Inspired Examples”. --> Added community-inspired example from raynebc and Kent0348: chord with some strings containing unpitched slide tech notes. TUTORIAL CONTENTS Question 1 - What are tech notes? Question 2 - Can you describe some of the new possibilities that tech notes provides us? Question 3 - How do we define how quickly a bend or a slide must be accomplished in-game? Question 4 - What must I do to add a tech note to an arrangement? Question 5 - What do tech notes look like and how can I distinguish them from regular notes? Question 6 - When do I use the regular view to author bends and when do I use tech notes to author bends? Question 7 - If a bend tech note is added to a regular note, must that regular note also indicate a bend? Question 8 - Do I have to use Linknext note status for bend tech notes to work? Question 9 - What new types of slides can I now author using tech notes? Question 10 - What new types of techniques can I author using tech notes that I couldn’t previously? Question 11- What are the current limitations of tech notes? Question 12 - Any special advice or remarks regarding tech notes? Question 13 - Are there any pitfalls I must be careful to avoid? Question 14 - Do tech notes export to Rocksmith 2012 as well? Question 15 – Will the Dynamic Difficulty Creator (DDC) work with tech notes? Question 16 - What exactly does the in-game notation for bends mean? Question 17 - Any tricks to interpret the relative waviness of multiple bend notes in-game more accurately? 16 Tech Note Authoring Examples Community-Inspired Examples Question 1: What are tech notes? Answer 1: Tech (short for “technique”) notes are a new functionality of EoF since Hotfix 1281 (released on 02Feb2014). Tech notes are notes that can be overlaid upon regular notes on any given string and when a technique is defined on the tech note it ADDS that technique or status to whatever technique or status is applied to the regular note. Slide and bend techniques are an exception: the slide and bend techniques defined on tech notes override those defined on any regular notes the tech notes affect. The main thrust behind the introduction of tech notes is to allow the authoring of complex, custom bends. Tech notes with bend status have special treatment in that instead of just adding their status to notes they overlap, their positions are exported as bendValue tags, allowing you to define at what time a note bends (has a non-zero bend strength) and releases (has a bend strength of zero). Bend notes can have as many bend definitions as you can cram onto them. When one places a tech note on top of a regular note in the track, it will alter the technique exported to XML for that note specifically. Note: Regular bends in Rocksmith 2012 and in Rocksmith 2014 –vs– Rocksmith 2014 tech note bends By default, in Rocksmith 2014 exclusively, when a note is defined with a bend technique, EOF will export a bendValue defining the bend to take effect one third of the way through the note's sustain. In Rocksmith 2012, the player merely has to achieve the correct bend strength by the time the end of the note is reached. In Rocksmith 2014, for example, if a note is defined as a bend with a strength of 2 half steps, but you place a tech note anywhere on top of that note’s sustain tail and define the tech note as bending 1 half step, the 2 half-step bend definition that would have been placed 1/3 into the note's sustain is ignored for that note and the 1 half step bend is exported to XML instead. The default regular note bend will still export for the Rocksmith 2012 format XML when you author custom bends with tech notes, so you can author the bend note to work in both games - it will just be more accurate in the Rocksmith 2014 output XML (and game) with tech notes. See Example 5 for an example containing both regular and tech bend notes. Question 2: Can you describe some of the new possibilities that tech notes provides us? Answer 2: Although a bunch of examples are peppered throughout this tutorial as well as detailed examples at the end of this tutorial, the following are interesting new possibilities. i) Chords can now have different techniques on each string. Figure 1: If, for example, you mark a regular chord as accented and then place a tech note on one string making it a harmonic, the entire chord will still export as accented, but only the one string with the tech note will also be a harmonic. See 2nd chord in the image below to see how this appears in-game. The 1st chord is meant to illustrate the difference between an accented and non-accented chord. ii) As an extension to the above point, Unison bends can now be authored. “Unison” refers to 2 notes of the same pitch being played simultaneously; a unison bend is achieved by playing 2 strings while bending one string to match the pitch of another. Figure 2: Unison bend – In-Game iii) Bends can now (partially) release (and bend again) Figure 3: Multiple custom bends on one note iv) Authoring pre-bends in EoF, whereby the string is bent and then the note picked, is now possible. See the Figure 3 screen shot; it happens to also be a pre-bend note. v) Regarding slides, if the regular chord has a slide definition already, the slide tech note will REPLACE the slide end position for specific string(s) in the chord. Figure 4: You can mark the chord shown below as sliding to fret 3 and put a tech note on the D string (blue string) that defines the slide ending on fret 4 instead of fret 3, which would result in a 2-2 sliding to 3-4. Question 3: How do we define how quickly a bend or a slide must be accomplished in-game? Answer 3: For bends: it is important to note that the game will always bend a note gradually from one bend strength to the next bend strength. This implies that in a bend with more than one bend strength, the only way to maintain constant bend strength is to author two successive tech notes with equal bend strength. The following image, courtesy of our friend Aquilae, demonstrates this concept. To make the bend from one bend strength to another occur more quickly, simply place the two tech notes closer to one another. Figure 5: Note bend shape examples. For slides: Note that with the exception of bends, tech notes always apply the technique to the beginning of whichever note on top of which they reside. So for Figure 4 above, it doesn’t matter where along the sustain of the blue string the tech note is placed, as it will always look the same in-game. To adjust how quickly or gradually the slide is to be played requires authoring multiple notes and using the linknext note status. See Example 13 to see how this is authored. Question 4: What must I do to add a tech note to an arrangement? Answer 4: - The first step is to enable Tech View as follows: "Track>Rocksmith>Enable tech view". You can use the shortcut F4 to toggle in and out of this view. You will need to toggle in and out of tech view since you must be out of tech view to add, remove or modify regular notes. Note that when in Tech View, the title bar of the EoF window will show “(Tech View)” in its text. - To place a tech note, in Tech View, right-click anywhere on the piano roll (as you would for a regular note) to ultimately add a technique to an existing regular note. The point here is to add a tech note such that it overlaps a regular note and adds a special technique to it. On regular sustain notes you can place a tech note anywhere on the sustain. --> Tech notes in and of themselves simply do not export as notes that appear in game; they serve only to apply a technique to a regular note. --> If you place a tech note anywhere other than overlapping a regular note, the tech note will be moot since it will try to apply a technique to a note that hasn’t been placed in regular view. --> When a tech note is placed, a red asterisk (*) will appear below both piano rolls to indicate the presence of a tech note. --> You can place multiple tech notes overlapping a single sustained regular note in order to define complex bends, pre-bends, bend and releases, etc. So there is no need for one regular note per tech note. In fact a bend and release technique requires a minimum of 2 tech notes on a single sustained regular note, one to indicate where the bend begins and one to indicate where the bend releases. --> Tech view is designed to show the regular note underneath the tech notes, however on perfectly overlapping notes, such as with pre-bends, the regular note’s fret number, in EoF, will be hidden under the tech note. To view the regular note under the tech note one can simply toggle out of Tech View with the F4 key or though it is not necessary one can add a second piano roll as follows: Song > Second Piano Roll > Display to toggle the desired view (ensure “synch with main piano roll” is check-marked if you want both piano rolls to move as synchronously). Tech view will only apply to the primary piano roll. --> 3D preview draws the regular notes when tech view is in effect. --> Tech Notes cannot define fret or finger definitions (as of Hotfix 1299) and tech notes cannot be given a sustain. Only techniques or note status (ex: linknext, stop, sustain) can be applied to a tech note whose job it will be to alter how the regular notes are treated in Rocksmith 2014. --> Note that, while in tech view, tech notes can be multiply selected with the SHIFT and CTRL keys and copy/pasted or moved as a selected bunch, just like regular notes. - Workflow for authoring complex bends: Create regular note. Press F4 to enter tech view. Right-click to add tech note that overlaps regular note. Go to "Note>Pro guitar>Toggle bend" or simply type CTRL+B to open a dialog box asking for how many half/quarter steps to make the bend. Repeat for every tech note placed on the regular note in question. Selecting multiple tech notes before pressing CTRL+B will apply the same bend technique to each note selected. - See the end of this tutorial for multiple authoring scenarios illustrated and procedure detailed. Question 5: What do tech notes look like and how can I distinguish them from regular notes? Answer 5:Tech notes overlaid onto the regular notes appear as tab notation in boxes within the piano roll. In the EOF screenshot below one can see all the possible color schemes for various tech notes. The screenshot below was the EoF authoring that produced the in-game screen shot in Figure 3 above. Figure 6: Example of Tech View Figure 7: Corresponding Regular View Legend: --> A white box with only a black background with no text inside is how the tech note initially appears when right-clicking in Tech view to place a tech note. You then proceed to defining a technique the same way you would define a technique on a regular note, and then the box will have technique information inside. --> A blue box with white interior and blue text signifies that the tech note overlaps the regular note exactly. This is how one authors a pre-bend. The text inside the box describes the technique applied to the regular note. In this case it is a pre-bend with bend strength of one half step. --> A green box with black interior and green text indicates a tech note that overlaps a regular note on the regular note’s sustain tail. In the example above the pre-bend of strength “1” is bent further to a bend strength of “2” (i.e. two half steps = 1 full step; 1 half step is equivalent to playing the note 1 fret higher up) --> A bend strength of “0” is meant to tell to player to release the bend. --> A white box with black background and white text is meant to show that this tech note is currently selected in EoF. --> When a tech note does not overlap (does not affect) a regular note, it is rendered as a red box with black background and red text. This indicates that this tech note is moot and should either be deleted or repositioned such that it overlaps a regular note. Recall, every difficulty level in a track containing regular notes, be they text or numerical difficulty levels names, appear in EoF with an asterisk preceding their names (Example: *Amazing or *4). In an imminent upcoming Hotfix (after 1306), any difficulty containing tech notes inside, even if this said difficulty contains no regular notes, will see the difficulty tab contain the “(*)” suffix. Example: a difficulty level containing regular and tech notes will appear as follows: “*Supereasy(*)”. If it contains no regular notes it will appear as “ Supereasy(*)”. Question 6: When do I use the regular view to author bends and when do I use tech notes to author bends? Answer 6: The regular view bend is generically modeled as follows: bend increases in the note, are placed 1/3 into the note's sustain. Whenever this is not suitable, use tech notes. Question 7: If a bend tech note is added to a regular note, must that regular note also indicate a bend? Answer 7: No. Only the bend status of the tech notes are exported to XML. Question 8: Do I have to use Linknext note status for bend tech notes to work? Answer 8: No longer since a bend tech note overlapping a regular note’s sustain tail will not display a note head in-game. Question 9: What new types of slides can I now author using tech notes? Answer 9: Chord slides where one or more strings slide by a different amount of frets relative to the other strings involved in the slide. See Figure 4 for an in-game screenshot and Examples 12 and 13 at the end of this tutorial for authoring examples of this. Question 10: What new types of techniques can I author using tech notes that I couldn’t previously? Answer 10: Above and beyond those described in question 2 we ask that you post your unique, exotic (though useful and humanly playable) feats in this thread. Please provide in-EoF and in-game screenshots and the corresponding notes in Guitar Pro format. Question 11: What are the current limitations of tech notes? Answer 11: - If you place tech notes on top of a regular note and then move that regular note, the tech notes will not move with it. Copying a regular note using CTRL+C and pasting it elsewhere using CTRL+V will not copy over the accompanying tech notes either. raynebc will eventually address this. That said, as of Hotfix 1296 auto-adjust, the mechanism where notes are moved when you click and drag beat markers, does move tech notes as well as regular notes. - As of Hotfix 1300 Complex bends can now import, with the help of tech notes, from Guitar Pro into EoF. --> Currently the bend tech notes import into EoF but may require repositioning along the EoF note sustain tail it lies upon. This will happen when the sustain tail is generated by a tie note in the tab and EoF will scale and place all tech notes on the first of the two tied notes from the tab. raynebc will address this limitation in a future hotfix. --> Currently EoF doesn’t import Guitar Pro bend points that are identical to the previous one. raynebc will address this limitation in a future hotfix. See the images in the figure below to understand the distinction. Figure 8: EoF import of Guitar Pro sustained versus un-sustained bend strength raynebc is looking into the possibility of coding EoF to import techniques applied to a select subset of strings in a chord from Guitar Pro with the use of tech notes as necessary. The following are two examples authorable in Guitar Pro that would become future potential import candidates. Figure 9: Two examples of techniques expected to become importable into EoF with tech notes from GP. - Just like regular notes, when designing a chord in EoF, tech notes placed perfectly aligned-in-time are forcibly attributed identical tech notes. It is not a limitation of tech notes since it is intentionally designed that tech notes can be “tech chords”, because that is how EoF is designed to work. As with regular notes the work-around is slightly mis-aligning the simultaneous tech notes in time. - As of Hotfix 1300, Linknext tech notes can be used. Linknext tech notes cause a chord that follows to be exported as single notes, just as when regular notes have linknext status applied. Note also that as of Hotfix 1304, linknext note status, be it on regular or tech notes, will also cause the chordnote's sustain to export in the EoF-generated XML file, whereas before it only exported the sustain when the chordnote also had bend or slide status. Before this Hotfix 1304 the export sustain remedy was to apply a “sustain” status to the regular note or tech note in question. --> The limitation is that currently the use of Linknext tech notes is exhibiting strange behaviour in that it is not always removing the note heads from SOME of those following individual chordnotes that are now exported to XML as single notes. Ticket number #153 on github.com, the Toolkit developer website, has been opened to address this to assess whether EoF or Toolkit needs to be adjusted. When and if it works, a new example depicting this will appear in the examples section of this tutorial. Here is how this currently looks in EoF and in-game, albeit with Hammer-On and Pull-Off tech notes added too, which demonstrates a promising new technique proposed by our friend mrmaton. Figure 10: Attempting double stop with HOPO with the use of Linkenext and HOPO tech notes The following figure shows how raynebc figured out how to make it look in game, which currently is only achievable with tweaking the XML manually and which, more intuitively for the player, doesn’t break the sustain (orange sustain in this example) as in the above figure where the HOPO’s occur. Figure 11: In-game footage of manually tweaked that XML which a future EoF hotfix maybe will be capable of authoring. - As of Hotfix 1300, a new note status called “Stop” was added to the Edit Pro Guitar Note dialog box accessible either via the “N” button or clicking the mouse-wheel (if your mouse supports this). “Stop” status can be applied to tech notes. A stop tech note defines the end position of the affected string of the note it overlaps, allowing you to author chords with its individual notes ringing for different durations. If the stop tech note is at the start position of the note it affects, that note is exported with no sustain. --> The limitation is that there seems to be a Custom Song Creator Toolkit bug or Rocksmith game limitation currently preventing this from working as intended. Ticket number #153 on github.com, the Toolkit developer website, has been opened to address this. When and if it works, a new example depicting this will appear in the examples section of this tutorial. Here is how this looks in EoF. Figure 12: Authoring chords in EoF with different strings having different sustain durations via the “Stop” Tech note. Question 12: Any special advice or remarks regarding tech notes? Answer 12: - Of course there is the author-friendly short key, F4, to toggle in and out of Tech View. - A new menu option, “Note>Rocksmith>Move to prev note”, has been added which is a convenient way of taking a placed tech note and snapping it backward in time to overlap the previous note head exactly, even when the tech note doesn't overlap that previous normal note. - Note that with the exception of the bends technique and “stop” status, tech notes always apply the technique to the beginning of whichever note on top of which they reside. "Stop" isn't actually a Rocksmith technique. It is just a mechanism in EOF to allow notes in a chord to have unique durations. Stop tech notes apply that status anywhere on the note as is the case with bend tech notes. - As of Hotfix 1300, EoF can perform Guitar Pro tab import to create tech notes for any complex bends defined in the imported track. --> The following example demonstrates the proper import of a complex bend using “Guitar Pro import” feature of EoF. Figure 13: Importing complex bends into EoF from Guitar Pro tab. * Disclaimer: Current import limitation requires repositioning of tech notes as in the Step 4 of this figure. See Question 11 for details. - For those creating Dynamic Difficulty manually (as opposed to using DDC), as of Hotfix 1296, regular notes and tech notes alike, in a given difficulty of a track, can be copied and pasted simultaneously and identically into a new difficulty level. The EoF functionalities "Insert new difficulty", "Paste from", "Erase track", "Erase track difficulty" and "Manage RS phrases" functions now handle tech notes so there is no more need to copy regular and tech notes separately from one difficulty to another. --> Note: “Manage RS phrase" adds or removes a difficulty level for individual phrases in the project, for manually creating dynamic difficulties. While in a difficulty level containing regular and tech notes and adding a difficulty level with “Manage RS phrase”, all regular and tech notes alike will be copied over to the newly added difficulty level. --> Note: As stated in the Question 11, copying a regular note using CTRL+C and pasting it elsewhere using CTRL+V will not copy over the accompanying tech notes. - As is the case with regular notes, you can select one tech note and hold SHIFT while clicking another tech note in order to select all tech notes between the first and second clicked notes. All selection functions (select all, select previous, select rest, etc.) should work with tech notes as they do with regular notes, so you could copy and paste all tech notes into another difficulty or even into another track. Note that if you select a sequence of tech notes, copy them, and paste the tech notes from the clipboard they will all copy with identical positioning as the original copied sequence. - Note that as of Hotfix 1296moving beat markers in regular view will move regular notes and tech notes and moving beat markers in Tech View will similarly move tech notes and regular notes. Regular notes and tech notes remain completely separate from one another, but with this new feature it is no longer necessary to wait till after the tempo map is locked to be applying tech notes. It is in fact encouraged to author regular and tech notes alike concurrently so as to author a track of a CDLC in one pass, thereby avoiding forgetting where tech notes should belong. - In Tech View, if you use the resnap feature (Note > resnap or CTRL+SHIFT+R) when notes fall out of alignment with the grid snap setting, the tech notes will snap to the currently selected grid snap setting. Since placing bend tech notes often occurs at the end of a sustained regular note stuck to the next note, thus requiring the placement of a tech note bend to be placed 1ms or more before the end of the visible sustain note tail, it would be prudent to not resnap those bend release tech notes. See Figures 8 and 9 for examples of this. Figure 14: Purposely un-aligning bend tech notes example at the end of sustains Figure 15: In this example add all the tech notes with grid snap on without worrying about position. Then the last tech notes to be positioned are those requiring grid snap off. Question 13: Are there any pitfalls I must be careful to avoid? Answer 13: - Not really, apart from ensuring that the regular notes are not repositioned, since the Tech notes do not follow, yet(with the exception of auto-adjust, that does move regular and text notes alike when moving beat markers). - Note that if a regular note has fret value equal to zero and a tech note with a bend is applied to this regular note, EoF will not know to warn the author that this is not possible. In-game, regardless the bend tech note applied to the open string note, it will appear simply as an open string. - Please report any difficulties experienced with tech notes either in this thread or in the EoF Hotfix thread. Question 14: Do tech notes export to Rocksmith 2012 as well? Answer 14: A tech note exporting to Rocksmith 2014 will be ignored if exporting to Rocksmith 2012 and instead whatever regular note technique was added in regular view will be exported to Rocksmith 2012. Question 15: Does the Dynamic Difficulty Creator (DDC) work with tech notes? Answer 15: Yes. In terms of EoF-outputted XML for an arrangement with tech notes: - Complex Bends: the only difference with regular bends and tech note bends are <bendValue time> tags and if more than one bend tech note is placed on a note’s sustain, then tech notes just add more <bendValue> tags, but nothing else is changed in the EoF-outputted XML. - Chord techniques: The only difference between a regular chord and, for example, a chord with 1 string sliding to a different end fret, or one string with its note made harmonic is a different note attribute such as <slideTo="4"> instead of <slideTo="3"> or < harmonic="1"> instead of < harmonic="0"> for the string with the tech note. Nothing else is changed in the EoF-outputted XML. Therefore, in terms of the impact of DDC on tech notes: DDC has no problem processing techniques defined by tech notes. See Figures 10 to 13 to see the effect of applying DDC to arrangements containing tech notes. Figure 16: DDC has no adverse impact on a long bend note from the difficulty level in which it first appears to all the higher levels Figure 17: DDC simply removes regular notes on lower difficulties as one would expect, so those regular notes with tech note techniques on them will simply increasingly not appear on successively lower difficulties. Figure 18: DDC simply removes some regular chord notes on lower difficulties as one would expect. So on increased difficulty levels where a new string is added to a chord, if that string is authored with a tech note, then that tech note technique will be applied. This screen shot demonstrates this for a chord with a harmonic tech note followed by a chord with a string with alternate slide tech note Question 16: What exactly does the in-game notation for bends mean? Answer 16: In-EOF: The number in the tech note, as for regular notes, represents half-steps. 0.5 = ¼ step, 1 = ½ step, 1.5 = ¾ step, 2 = 1 full step, etc. In-XML: The XML code generated by EoF, for the bend in Figure 3 above, has the following form: <note time="29.000" … bend="3" …> <bendValues count="7"> <bendValue time="11.500" step="1.000"/> <bendValue time="12.000" step="2.000"/> <bendValue time="12.500" step="0.000"/> <bendValue time="13.000" step="3.000"/> <bendValue time="13.500" step="1.000"/> <bendValue time="14.000" step="2.000"/> <bendValue time="14.250" step="0.000"/> </bendValues></note>Note: the word ‘chordNote’ replaces the word ‘note’ for chords in the XML tags. Remarks: - The value for the <bend> tag is authored by EoF as the highest of all the bend steps along a given note and the number of solid arrow head marks on top of the note head in-game corresponds to this number. --> Note for Hotfix 1291 and earlier, EoF defined the <bend> tag with the value of the first non-zero “step” value in the corresponding <bendValues step> tag, thereby showing the note head with an amount of solid arrow heads equal to that first-non-zero bend step value even if further along in the note a higher bend step (bend strength) is authored. - The minimum value for a bend is always 1, so if we have step="0.500" or "1.000" the bend tag is set to “1” - The <step> value is always rounded up to the nearest whole number in order to define a <bend> tag value that in turn dictates how many solid arrow heads display above a note head. In-Game: - ¼ step = 1 solid arrow head - ½ step = 1 solid arrow head (pitched up by 1 fret) - ¾ step = 2 solid arrow heads - 1 full step = 2 solid arrow heads (pitched up by 2 frets) - 1 ¼ steps = 3 solid arrow heads - 1 ½ steps = 3 solid arrow heads (pitched up by 3 frets) - 1 ¾ steps = 3 solid arrow heads! --> 3 arrow head maximum and the ghost string indicator described in the next question will not surpass 1 full step (i.e. deflect by no more than two strings in-game). Question 17: Since the number of solid arrowheads above the in-game note containing bends corresponds to the maximum bend strength applied to the note, it can be difficult to tell the bend strength of higher and lower strength bends in the same note, such as may be the case in Figure 3 above. Any tricks to interpret the relative waviness more accurately? Answer 17: Yes. In Rocksmith 2014, a ghost string will dynamically move up (or down depending on the string) to indicate how much to bend a string. As you are bending, the goal is to dynamically bend with a strength that aligns precisely with the bending ghost string. Note that the ghost string will bend as follows: - ¼ step: half the distance between the in-game strings - ½ step: one full distance between the in-game strings - ¾ step: the distance equivalent to 1.5 the distance between two adjacent in-game strings - 1 full step: two full in-game string distances apart - >1 full step: two full in-game string distances apart Note: The arrowhead outline indicates the instantaneous increasing or decreasing required bend strength. - Note that RS2014 will score the note as correct if the first bend is achieved even if subsequent bends are not achieved. However the game does provide dynamic feedback such that when the bend strength applied is not as per the way it was authored, the sustain will stop glowing until the bend strength is as required. chord (i.e. ghost notes are added). Had the regular note sustains extended till the beginning of the next regular note in the arpeggio, and had the bend release tech note been attempted at the end of such a sustain, the tech note would become red as in the following screenshot in Figure 14. Figure 20: Effect of EoF truncating sustains by 1ms Unless the first of two consecutive notes in Figure 14 has linknext status, EOF enforces a gap between notes (File>Preferences>Min. note distance). This is why the tech note aligned with the regular note head on the D string is red instead of green (it is placed 1ms after the end of the arpeggio's initial chord). EOF will not allow a chord to overlap any notes using any of the same strings, even if the conflicting string is ghosted. If you wished to extend the sustain and resulting end of sustain bend release as close to the next regular sustain note (D-string), extend the regular note sustain, visually-speaking, to meet the next note, turn off grid snap, and move the tech note on the A-string to within a few milliseconds before the next note and then the tech note technique will apply to the note on the A string as evidenced by a green box tech note. It would look as follows in EoF and in-game though the change in-game appears as subtle in this screenshot. 27. Today I'm proud to announce that we will be offering a cool and special feature here at CustomsForge. This was actually recommended from a few members here and I want to thank you for the idea. We're going to launch this section in the future and have special CDLC's that will help you learn new guitar techniques. From anywhere from guitar scales to playing the bass quickly with your fingers, we will try to help you master ways to learn the guitar. Each CDLC will feature Dynamic Difficulty so you can begin at a steady pace and work your way up. We still have to figure out how we're going to do this but this is definitely something I am interested in doing. If you have any ideas, please suggest them!

  29. -= Rodmans Course for Kids and Beginners =- Well... my 6 year old son learns to play the guitar now for about a year, and he does really well. 30 min lession at a professional musician once a week and a bit practice at home. As he knows me shredding some RS CS songs all the time he is very Rocksmith motivated - so to connect his achieved abilities to the game as well as present an easy course to anyone or anyones kids who want to start playing the guitar i decided to chart some of his exercises and songs and some own collected stuff to a growing collection here... P.S: my son uses my fender squier mini strat which works quite fine. The lessions are either Exercises or Songs, categorised by Difficulty Levels 1-5(-10 maybe somewhen) L1 - minimal stringskipping, slow, only open strings or one hand position L2 - max. 2 strings, one hand position, short L3 - one hand position, more strings, faster, longer L4 - more than one hand position or generally harder / faster than L3 L5 - too difficult for L4 / first chords The lessions consist of tabs very well synced to a background metronome track. Tipp: The speed is chosen at the songs to match an comfortale singalong and at the exercises at the speed they are meant to be played - so start off with reduced speed in Riff Repeater and accelerate as you progress!!!! ... starting easy lessons and depending on the response and my sons motivation planning to add a lot more. have fun. Exercises Rock - L1 - Exercise - For the very first tabs Rock - L1 - Exercise - First Finger First Fret Rock - L1 - Exercise - 1/4 Pauses Rock - L2 - Exercise - The 3rd Finger Stringskipper Rock - L4 - Exercise - The Empty String-skipper Rock - L5 - Exercise - The first Blues is the deepest... Songs Rock - L2 - Song - Hänschen klein (little Hans) Rock - L3 - Song - If you´re happy and you know it Rock - L3 - Song - Old MacDonald(had a farm) Rock - L3 - Song - Happy Birthday to You Rock - L4 - Song - In dem Walde (da) steht ein Haus upcoming: more lessons and songs incl. happy birthday to you done so incl. ein vogel wollte hochzeit machen Update 22-07-22 All links fixed and motivated to do more Son is turning 13 next month now

  30. Hey all, I just wanted to touch base with everyone and give a proper update on what's been going on behind the scenes. At the moment COVID-19 has affected all of us. Due to work constraints and other issues, our main developers has not had the time to continue to develop Ignition4. Because of these delays I am announcing that we are currently cutting planned features for Ignition4 to fast-track the release of it. I understand delay after delay can get frustrating. We wanted to bring you a state of the art search engine with all of these amazing features but we keep running into issues so my current plan is to make sure the cut features are added to the Ignition 4.1-4.5 Roadmap Our primary goal is now is bringing on a few more developers, get them comfortable with laravel/js to finish up the current build and we can get this released. We have successfully tested a migration from IP Board 3 & Ignition 3 to IP Board 4.5 & Ignition4. So right now it's just about polishing and removing all features that won't make it to the build. We are still incredibly excited to bring you a rebuilt Ignition and to deliver an overall improved performance. I can't wait to have the new upgraded forums live with the improved search engine. The whole development process for Ignition4 has been a very frustrating but rewarding experience. All of our developers efforts will soon pay off once we can get this into your hands. If you're interested in testing what the new forums experience would be like, here's a really good example: https://linustechtips.com/main/ Beta access through my Patreon is still planned. If you would like to volunteer to become a developer, we're always looking for new talent: https://forms.gle/YWDzVSgsmGFSUaq39 Thanks all, stay safe!

  31. Please discuss Rocksmith Remastered here. FAQ: Q: My CDLC doesn't work! A: For windows: Please use the new .dll | Mac: Please use the Patch. You can get both here For further help regarding customs not playing see : CDLC not working - General Rocksmith - CustomsForge Q: I'm getting 100% on all the CDLC songs I play A: Thanks to @@cozy1 and @@Lovroman you can now update all your collection in the 1.2.6.4 beta version of CFSM that can be found here : http://ignition.customsforge.com/cfsm Q: I'm getting camera issue on some CDLC, why? A: The remaster update slightly changed how the camera is handle in game so CDLC that don't have section have now different camera issue than before that are more problematic now. Note that not having section also means that Riff Repeater (RR) isn't available in game and also means that the play count won't be incremented every time the song is played. If you find such CDLC, alert the author of the problem and report the CDLC to us via the appropriate report button. Q: The play count isn't getting updated when i play CDLC, why? A: The remaster update slightly changed how it counts the number of time someone play a song which seems be related to DD instead of only section as it was before the remaster. So any CDLC without DD won't have is play count properly working. Q: I'm getting crashes when on the Learn A Song page of some CDLC? A: The remaster update changed how bonus and alternate arrangement are visible which also have a side effect of provoking random crashes when looking at songs that have too much (more than 5) arrangement in the Learn A Song area of the game. If you find such CDLC, alert the author of the problem and report the CDLC to us via the appropriate report button. Q: I'm getting an error when launching the Rocksmith Remastered A: Please verify your integrity via Steam. We do not support pirated copies and we will ban you if caught with a copy. Make sure to have Cherub Rock DLC to be able to use CDLC. Q: Is Ubisoft trying to ruin CDLC? A: No. When they updated the game, the executable file changed which is why the dll needs to be updated, it's a side effect of software programming not a voluntary maneuver to break up things. Other issue arise by the discrepancies between how CDLC and ODLC are made, they aren't 100% similar inside and some of those differences can be put to light when the game changes how it react to some information. This is not ubisoft's fault as they never provided CDLC or mod support in the first place and when the main code changes, is it our duty to fix our mods to make the CDLC work again.

  33. Hello everyone! I wanted to say thanks to everyone who's supported us so far. First off I wanted to explain what your donations was used for. The negatives are what I've purchased. The websites domain for $15 and the IP.Board & IP.Download system for $225 I have $142.93 USD Left in paypal and I plan to let all users know where their money went. I will not pocket any of this money as it will be used for this website only. Edit: I've moved the transactions list to Google Spreadsheet. Please view it here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1zfCUmm0Wj8V1KW_Xrh8JWhV1Sio7H7F-OHeY4E09NAA/edit?usp=sharing Thank you SO much to everyone. Okay now, for the future of the website I have a few things in motion. 1) We will most likely use http://rscdlc.com/ for our DLC system. We will modify it to make it better. 2) We will use IP.Downloads for our file system. You can do EVERYTHING you dreamed it. Some of the features: - It counts every download - Searchable fields (Title, Artist, etc) - NOTIFICATIONS for file updates. This is a huge update I'm looking forward to. No longer have to deal with outdated CDLC. - Report broken file downloads to the CDLC creator & More! 3) We are actively working with PHP developers to upgrade to our new CDLC system. 4) We are looking into hiring a Skin designer to design a professional dark-themed type skin. (Possibly a white one too). Please note this will take some time but I'm hoping to get all of this in motion within the week. I'd like to have everything up and running soon so we can have an awesome community with awesome CDLC. I also want to give thanks for my wife, Ally who has been here since the morning helping me out with everything. I'm looking forward to working with everyone to create the ultimate CDLC website.

  35. II.Getting Started That is where the fun begins ! You know which songs you wanna play in your favorite music game ? You have an audio file to work with ? You better do cause you will need it directly ! After Starting EOF, create a new project (File => New) and you will need to indicate which audio file you wanna use (EOF support OGG, MP3 and WAV file). The song information can be automatically populated with the tag inside your audio file if they are available, the RSTK will use EOF information to also automatically populate his own field so i would suggest to indicate the information as soon as possible to avoid having to retype it every time. https://imgur.com/Iws8BfKhttps://imgur.com/Iws8BfKhttps://imgur.com/Iws8BfKhttps://imgur.com/Iws8BfKhttps://imgur.com/Iws8BfKhttps://imgur.com/Iws8BfKhttps://imgur.com/Iws8BfKhttps://imgur.com/Iws8BfKhttps://imgur.com/Iws8BfKhttps://imgur.com/Iws8BfKhttps://imgur.com/Iws8BfKhttps://imgur.com/Iws8BfKhttps://imgur.com/Iws8BfKhttps://imgur.com/Iws8BfKhttps://imgur.com/Iws8BfK Then you can select where the work folder will be, either a folder of your choice, the folder where the audio file is or inside EOF folder (he will create a new sub-folder corresponding to the given name in the field). Note that if you didn’t used an OGG file, EOF will ask you about the quality settings to encore the audio file. 1. The basic for a good EOF project I will start to get into some technical stuff about music theory in there so be warned ! I’ll try to keep it as basic as i can but we are dealing with musical element here, so there’s no way to cut through some of that vocabulary. a. Have enough « silence » at the beginning of the song The silence at the beginning vary a lot from song to song, if it is slow or fast, have an intro with or without guitar or bass but one rule is to follow here to have the best Rocksmith experience and is ODLC standard : The first beat should be at the 10 seconds mark! Since the beat map is common to all instrument that will ensure that everything doesn't start too early in game so that the player will have enough time to get ready. But why 10 seconds? Because Rocksmith need some time to load all the element needed for the song to play correctly and rest assured, you won't see the full 10 seconds of it! In fact you will rarely see more than 4/5 seconds of silence before the beat map appear. One important detail here is that even if the beat map start at 10 seconds, there won't be any note at that point in time. There has to be at least 1 full empty measure (usually 4 beat but for more detail, i suggest to read about time signature and their signification) that will mostly be used for count in event. So there's a few different case with example of tab to visualize it. Case 1 : The music start but not guitar or bass chart have any note in the first measure Case 2 : The music start and at least the guitar or the bass start have note in the first measure Specific case of 2 : there's an anacrusis (the chart doesn't start with a full measure) Case 1 is easy, simply add some silence so that the music start at the 10 seconds mark and align the beat map with it : So to correct this, EOF have a nice function called « add leading silence » which will simply add silence before the song. You can add as many milliseconds as you wish there to make the beginning of the songs starts close to the 10 seconds mark. For case 2, it's a bit more complicated cause you have to account for the fact that you'll have one empty measure. The easy way is to know the number of Beat Per Minute and to deduce how many milliseconds would requires 4 beats (if you are in a 4/4 time signature), it's not complicated math but it will serve you well. For case 3, You can do the same as case 2 but have the note and music start in the appropriate beat of the measure or you can add another full measure. This will really depends how much of the measure is played, i would add a full measure when more than half of the measure is played. b. Set the beatmap to the correct tempo all along the song First the beatmap is what define the tempo, the beat of the song, you can see it in any music game as the white bar that lay horizontally on the highway, some are stronger because they are the first beat of a measure, other are lighter because they are the other beat inside the measure. It is the fundation of a music, it is the metronome that assure you that everything is correctly set in time all along the music. It’s also an important visual cue once in game. It allow players to see how close are note from each other. I can’t stress enough how much this is vital but it is also a part that requires the charter (the one creating the chart for the game) to have atleast a small cue about what the hell a beat is, a measure and how music revolves around it. Many things can make this step a nightmare for a lot of user : How well was recorded the song in the first place How many variation of tempo are in the song Lack of elements that clearly mark the tempo (kick, snare are usually the most obvious cue) I’ve made a long piece about how i do this myself over CustomsForge forum and other users have shared different ways of getting this done properly, there’s no easy and perfect way so i’ll just lay some link for all of you to take a good look at it and try what you prefer : http://customsforge.com/index.php/topic/5099-how-to-sync-your-beat-map/ http://customsforge.com/index.php/topic/856-tutorial-for-proper-gp-tab-sync-sectionphrase-authoring-and-more/ http://customsforge.com/index.php/topic/2393-how-to-get-beat-map/ http://customsforge.com/index.php/topic/5136-using-beat-markers-to-sync-in-eof/ Also a video of me doing the sync for a CDLC :

  36. 1. Prepairing: 1. Workload directory: Let's start by setting our workload directory. I suggest using the following structure: --C:--/ ------/--MyRS14Customs--/ ------/-----------------/----Working---/ ------/-----------------/-----Tools----/ ------/-----------------/--------------/---RST---/ ------/-----------------/--------------/---EoF---/ ------/-----------------/--Installers--/ ------/-----------------/--------------/---RST---/ ------/-----------------/--------------/---EoF---/ ------/-----------------/--------------/--WWise--/ falecomroberto has made a script for creating this directory structure: Copy this text to notepad, save it to a file named "CreateDirs.bat" and then run it: MKDIR C:\MyRS14Customs MKDIR C:\MyRS14Customs\Working MKDIR C:\MyRS14Customs\Working\RST MKDIR C:\MyRS14Customs\Working\EoF MKDIR C:\MyRS14Customs\Installers\RST MKDIR C:\MyRS14Customs\Installers\EoF MKDIR C:\MyRS14Customs\Installers\WWiseBy using the same directory structure and versions of the tools, you will make it much easier to help you because we will be working in the same environment! Since we've got that squared away, let's proceed to: 2. Tools: You will need basicaly 4 tools to create customs: 7zip - This is a free zip, rar, 7z and other format packer and unpacker. Grab it from http://www.7-zip.org/download.html and install it. RSToolkit - Go to: http://www.rscustom.net/ and grab the latest release build. Currently it's 2.5.0.0 (rev 25199c63). Download it to: C:\MyRS14Customs\Installers\RST like in the screenshot below: http://i.imgur.com/fwoZhPl.png then Right-Click on the file and choose: "7-zip" -> "Extract files..." and in the new window paste the file path: "C:\MyRS14Customs\Tools\RST" as in screenshot below: http://i.imgur.com/mQrsurV.png and you're basically done with preparing this tool. EoF - Navigate to: http://customsforge.com/forum/54-editor-on-fire/ where you can find the latest version (which as of this writing is: EOF 1.8RC9(r1296)) and save this file to: "C:\MyRS14Customs\Installers\EoF". But that's not all. You'll also need to apply the most recent hotfix, which you can also find updated in the thread linked above. This may be updated daily so you will have to track this thread to have the most recent version (currently the most recent hotfix is: r1299). So, go ahead and download it to the same folder: "C:MyRS14CustomsInstallersEoF". You will end up with two files as per this screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/fJJVB5O.png Now, you need to extract the program, so Right-Click on the "eof1.8RC9(r1296).zip" file and again select: "7-zip" -> "Extract files..." and, into the new window, paste the following path: "C:\MyRS14Customs\Tools\EoF". Do the same for the "eof.exe(r1299).zip" (hotfix file). You will end up with a subdirectory and a file: http://i.imgur.com/orRzc0J.png Then you simply move the .exe file to that subdirectory "C:\MyRS14Customs\Tools\EoF\eof1.8RC9(r1296)" and overwrite/replace the existing .exe! If you're not getting a replace confirmation window, then you're doing something wrong. Check your paths. But if you have overwritten it then you're ready to go to the next step! WWise - first thing is that you need to register to download that tool. Without registering I was only able to download the Authoring binaries standalone. So, go ahead, and register, download and install the WWise to your default directory, mine was: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Audiokinetic"

  40. RocksmithToTab is a tool which automatically extracts tabs from your Rocksmith songs, including official DLC and CDLCs. When you feel overwhelmed by a song and riff repeater isn't enough to make sense of it, it sometimes helps to be able to look at the tablature. With this tool, you can. The output is stored in Guitar Pro format. If you do not own Guitar Pro 5/6, there are several free alternatives which can open gp5 and gpx files, including TuxGuitar (http://tuxguitar.com.ar, they finally released a new version yesterday!), MuseScore (https://musescore.org) and PowerTab 2 (https://github.com/powertab/powertabeditor). It's been one year and a half since I released the first version of RocksmithToTab. Today, I finally finished the milestone release v1.0. It features a number of bugfixes as well as usability improvements. For more information, please visit the website at http://www.rocksmithtotab.de. You can download the latest release over at FossHub: http://code.fosshub.com/RocksmithToTab/downloads/ If you find any bugs or problems with this version, please head over to the issue tracker at https://github.com/fholger/RocksmithToTab/issues. You can also post here, but it's easier for me to keep track of the problems if you report them in the tracker :) (Old thread: http://customsforge.com/topic/10411-rocksmith-to-guitar-pro-exporter-v099-released-now-with-mac-support-and-gui/)

  41. Hello guys, If you didn't know already, the CustomsForge team has a desktop application for managing your Rocksmith CDLC being developed quietly in the background. We have a small team of developers about to get to work on creating it but first we'd like to pitch it to the users of CustomsForge to see how they'd like it to look / function. The initial mockup off the application would include CDLC listing / categorization (with a verbose view of the contents of the CDLC, arrangements, tuning and the like.) with the ability to do some simple in-place modifications on various meta info. The application itself will be tightly integrated with the website and would include notifications of when updates for DLC you own are availabe (don't panic, this doesn't mean you can't use the tool offline!) and also updates for the application itself. We already have a pretty good idea of what features we'd like to deliver to you guys, so I won't reveal too much just yet. However, what we don't have is a UI prototype to base the application on. We have some rough ideas, but we don't know what you guys really want. So, calling all designers and UI/UX enthusiasts, we'd like your advice on how the app should look. You can submit anything you want to this thread related to the GUI, be it a mockup, a link to an example of some fancy UI controls you seen, or a textual description of how you *think* it should look. If more info is needed to come up with an idea, then let me know and I'll add it to the thread. I'll be happy to help. Thanks, sfix. Note: This is not a feature request thread. Note 2: Nor is it the official development thread.

  43. I don't want to start a flame war, but this does seem a bit precious to me. It's not like the charters wrote the songs or played in the recordings, and often they've used tabs created by others. Yes charters put a lot of work into making CDLCs, but I don't think there should be a problem with making available a CDLC made by someone who isn't on this website, unless you're also going to prevent CDLC that wasn't uploaded by the rights-holders of the actual song! The 'original charter' should be given credit out of politeness, but the idea that a CDLC is "owned" by the creator seems at odds with the fact that the "creator" doesn't own most of the content of the CDLC, and it's all provided as a gift to the community for educational purposes. The administrators of the website can obviously dictate whatever rules they wish, as its their website, but this does seem oddly inconsistent to me.

  45. [update: The latest release is v0.9.9, visit the website: http://www.rocksmithtotab.de This program can convert any official or custom DLC into Guitar pro tab files (either .gp5 or .gpx). All of Rocksmith's features are supported and mirrored in the tabs. There may still be a few bugs left, and the rhythm notation is occasionally weird or just plain wrong, but overall the output is very decent and usable. The program can now be used on a Mac.] Hi all, over the past week I've begun to write a small program that can convert Rocksmith 2014 arrangements to Guitar Pro .gpx files. While Rocksmith's way of showing songs has its advantages, I've always had difficulty to figure out certain things from it, particularly strumming rhythms and quick passages. So for a while now I had been searching for a way to extract tabs from Rocksmith's tracks, and from a quick look through the forum, I might not be the only one. Recently I stumbled upon the RSTabExplorer, which attempted to do just that. Unfortunately, it wasn't in a state where its output was really useful to me, but at least it was a starting point. I had a look at the code and decided that I might have a shot at creating my own attempt. I have chosen to export the tabs to Guitar Pro, and specifically Guitar Pro 6. The reason is that I own Guitar Pro, and the gpx format was the quickest one for me to figure out (because at its core, it's just a very readable xml file, as opposed to the fully binary format of gp5). I also considered MusicXML, but it was a little more awkward to write, and more importantly, Guitar Pro's import is not advanced enough to capture all the relevant features. Now, the program isn't fully finished, yet, but it is in a state where I think it is already useful, and also could benefit from getting some feedback from other users. The program is a basic command-line utility (no GUI, sorry), where you specify the .psarc file and an output directory, and it will process all arrangements found in the archive. It already exports most of Rocksmith's features and does a decent job at rhythm detection, so many arrangements (at least in part) look quite good in Guitar Pro. There is one additional reason I'm releasing this now. Of the two major missing features (sustains and bends), I need help with the bends, specifically in understanding how Rocksmith interprets bends. I read the tutorial post about authoring bends in Eof, and that is all quite straightforward. However, in practice I found several tracks where a note has just a single bend value, yet sometimes Rocksmith interprets it as a simple bend, and sometimes as a bend/release. I can't figure out how Rocksmith differentiates between the two. For example, in Black Magic there is a bend/release on the 6th fret of the 5th string, but looking at the arrangement xml, I only see a single bend value for this note. Can anyone help me out here? Thanks :) Other than that, well, just try it out and let me know what you think. Just a little heads-up: Slides are only semi-working at the moment. Unpitching slides are fine, but slides to a target note only work in some instances. I know why, I just haven't had the time to correct it, yet. Also, the rhythm. Obviously, since Rocksmith has no direct notion of rhythm, it is quite a challenge to get an accurate rhythm representation out of Rocksmith's tracks. Basically not a single note maps 100% to its original rhythmic duration. I have experimented a bit with this, and my current approach is still quite basic, *but* it works surprisingly well in most instances. However, you have to expect the occasional oddity or error in the output, particularly in fast and "sloppy" solos. I have some ideas about cleverer approaches that I will try in the future, once all other features are implemented. One final warning: By default, the program puts all arrangements of a song (e.g. lead, rhythm, bass) into a single .gpx file. This is generally fine, but one caveat in Guitar Pro is that all tracks share the master bars, which dictate tempo and time. This is almost never a problem, but I did find in "Red Fang - Number Thirteen" that at some points, the lead and rhythm arrangements use different time in some measures. So when you combine them into a single file, this distinction is lost, and the result is simply wrong. There's not much I can do about that. I have implemented a switch to the program (-t) that will split the arrangements into separate files, if you need it. Now, finally, here is the link to the project: https://github.com/fholger/RocksmithToTab And the first release is here: https://github.com/fholger/RocksmithToTab/releases The program requires .NET 4.5. I hope I packaged everything correctly, please let me know if something isn't working. There are basic instructions on the GitHub page. I hope you get some use out of it, and please do point out any errors you spotted (besides those already mentioned above) in conversions. Many thanks to all you guys here who created the Custom Toolkit, and also to the RSTabExplorer team, because without you this project wouldn't exist.

  47. Hey everyone, I wanted to let everyone know I recently lost my job at the company I've been working for over 3 years. Long story short I did receive a letter of recommendation from them so I will be looking for a new job. In the meantime I an unable to support extra costs here as my income is very little next to nothing now. Therefore I must increase the goal (by $100) to cover what I donate towards the site monthly. It has been highly requested before but today I am proud to announce that I have launched a personal Patreon for CustomsForge - https://www.patreon.com/CustomsForge This supports my efforts and I'll be able to get improvements on the website done and released within weeks vs several months. Additionally, I will be streaming a lot more once I get a decent schedule put together. We will do giveaways and more. My plan is to relaunch CustomsForge with better features and better support. Thank you for your continued support and I want everyone to keep shredding. \m/ - Mark Beeson (Unleashed2k)

  48. And regarding none of these songs at all: My first forays at busking were of mixed success. On my first day, I made $24 in less than an hour, and that was with 20 minutes of talking to people. Now expecting double minimum wage for making music, I got comfy and did three hours of it the second time. The first hour, not a single person gave me a glance. But then I played Ending Credits (which does not even have words in it), and people rushed me with toonies after I finished! Ended up making the same amount that day in the end. But it's not even about the money, really - I'm just having a good time performing in front of strangers again. I haven't been on a stage in years, and it's probably gonna be a while longer still, but busking gives me that same high. Also pays for my beer! Here's a shot a photographer snuck of me making a goofy smile while talking with an adoring fan: http://i.imgur.com/vXP1GhY.jpg

  50. Ello community! I'm pretty happy to announce that Customsforge has been asked to participate at MAGFest 2015, a music and gaming festival in Baltimore/National Harbor, MD. http://magfest.org/sites/default/files/magfest-logo.pnghttp://magfest.org/ I will be going to represent us in the form of participating in a panel, and hosting a Rocksmith stand/booth where I plan on showcasing all the best Customsforge hosted CDLC's that we have to offer! More details to come, but for now, I ask the community to recommend the highest quality CDLCs you have played or created! I am very open to all genres, as long as they are high quality, and do not cause dead tones/crash. I also recommend that they have DD, but it is not a requirement. If you have a recommendation, please send me a private message (with a download link the PC psarc)! If you live in the area, please come out and support us/have fun! NOTE: This trip/event is being fully funded by myself, personally. All of your donations are still being used for site upkeep/server costs.
