  4. Hi Folks. I've lurked here for ages. I will finally have a go, and will start at the bottom. Only been playing for a year or so, and not consistently. Maybe if I turn up to this each week I will play / practice more and improve. Thanks. Andrew.

  8. Let´s kick it i´m grounded - yay unluckywise the cable of the P90 (neckpickup) is a tad short... so... let´s start with that issue haven´t used these in ages... BUT WAIT!!!!! I do have professional electricians clamps .... those will serve well and shield great. in the other hand that is way more decent yeah... i´ll go oldschool fits through the holes... all the cables are in place and measurements show my shielding is ok with no shorts Pickup polarity is next... gotta mount the pickups the same polarity. That is tested by measuring the resistance - here 14kOhm, placing a piece of metal (screwdriver....) over the pickup, remove it either down or up and see in which direction the resistance jumps for a short time... and that shall be the same direction for both pickups, otherwise one has to be turned around!!! That does not tell me which direction is the right one... i will know when stringed by output levels i think, but i hope the placing of the cablesout un the lower end is the logical not only for me but also for those designers of the pickups (pray) If that´s not a cool thing then at least that is they kept falling out soldering done placement of cables optimized. That was easy..... .... ouch!!!! switch is a tad high sollution... chisel there 3mm or so... found a switch placement=rotation with less height still 2mm ... just when you think woodworking is over... surprises make your days.... ... but time for bed now and fixing soon!

  11. Fun little song from a unique band...I think it's technically higher than a 3 difficulty for the fast strumming bits at the end especially if you are finger picking it: I'm a Prince admirer and I like this song but the bass chart is mostly rather boring to play: And this is a prog classic:

  12. It's on my list. I was gifted a Peavy Deuce VT 212 amp a little over 20 years ago that worked really well for some time but probably ~15 years ago the volume started cutting down about 50% every now and then. If I left it on for awhile it would work fine and then it started happening more and more so I figured the tubes were busted, replaced them and had no change in behaviour so it just sort of just moved around with me and I didn't play it. Probably about 5 years ago I seriously thought of refurbishing it because chances are over the 40 years it's been floating around some capacitor or whatnot probably popped so I can just do a rundown of everything and see what's burnt out, broken, etc. but life keeps getting in the way. Really it's showing its age and I would like to fully redo it, so polish up the hardware, re-tolex it or whatever (I've seen projects where they left it as wood and while those people were very happy with it I thought they looked really bad), and maybe even something bigger but since it's been 5 years with me getting as far as dragging it into my workshop we'll see what ends up happening on that front.
