  1. So, the last 2 weeks I tried to "up my game" and go after intermediate songs. However, they were 2 extremely frustrating weeks for which I posted no scores as I was not able to get above 85% on either song. I am therefore stepping back down to beginner as I'm doing this for fun and not taking lessons or making specific efforts to get better, other than when I come across a song I want to learn. Here's my effort on this week's beginner song after working on it Sunday: Beginner Lead - 91.4%

  2. My first runs. I want to like the Foo Fighters, but they just don't speak to me. Maybe this week I'll grow an appreciation. Lead is pretty fun. Trying to stretch myself to the next class. Toto isn't having it. I have to say, I expected this to be a geographically inaccurate song about Devils Tower in Wyoming in the same vein as Africa. Not sure what it is about still, but it seems like they wrote it after watching Close Encounters. I seem to have stumbled into masterclass. Mr. Crowley says "Get Out!"

  10. Oh nice, more time to play Wonderful Slippery Thing. Mr. Crowley is a good song with nice guitar sections, will try to ape Randy a few times at least. And I guess I need to play that Finnish nonsense as well... Nice picks

  12. If anyone could do Black Stone Cherry songs I would be hugely grateful, in particular Things my Father Said, White trash Millionaire(current one dead links with the author awol for a couple of years), Soul Machine, Cheaper to Drink Alone. So so many more I thought I only wanted a few but the more I think the more I want lol. Hell anything by BSC would be amazing so huge thanks in advance to anyone that takes it on. I had a look at the tutorial on how to create your own but I'm way too much of a noob to even start that. 14. I started right handed, wasted a lot of time and made no progress, then finally decided to really learn and get a left handed guitar, and it is infinitely easier. A lot of people will try to claim that being left handed on a normal guitar is an advantage because the left hand does the fretting, but that is moronic - if it's easier to fret with the dominant hand, why was every guitar on the planet made to fret left-handed when 99% of the players were right-handed? Yes, it sucks to see cool guitars right-handed and next to nothing left, but I have plenty of guitars that I love and can actually play and keep rhythm. I would say buy a lefty guitar online, like an Amazon warehouse deal, if you don't like it, send it back, but if you're really lefty, you will probably fell a million times more comfortable.

  15. A few questions about the Fret Hand Positions command: 1) I keep getting these weird things -- like notes being changed when I KNOW I'd already checked them for accuracy. Now I'm thinking this has something to do with the fret hand positions -- maybe I just don't understand all the warning prompts when I'm trying to save (more on saving later). I don't remember the exact dialogue, but when the fret position warning pops it gives me an either/or question (something about regenerating fret positions or adjusting notes) with a Yes/No response (which is part of my confusion, causes a logical brainfart). Does this mean EOF reset the notes according to the fret hand position? I sure hope not. But it seems that way. To me, the notes should have primacy over everything. 2) I'd been allowing EOF to set the fret hand positions, but now I think that's wrong -- is this something I should have been doing myself all along? That is, as I set down the notes, I should give the fret hand position right away? (I realize most people are just importing GPro files, but there are a couple of people using EOF to chart directly) 3) How do you give the Fret Hand Position for a slide? For example, when I have a note that starts on the 7th fret (Fret Hand Position at 6th fret) and it slides up to the 9th fret (into FHP 8th fret) should I mark the new fret position at the END of the slide? Or in the middle of the slide? 4) Most of the time when I'm saving, I'm really only looking for a 'quick save'. I just don't want to lose the date I've been imputting -- I'm not worried about fret hand positions, chord fingering, writing lyrics to midi, etc etc. To me that should be part of a separate process - like finalizing the track for the .xml. Maybe the first prompt should be something like "Finalize track for XML?" and if the user chooses no, the save just affects the notes/changes made since the last save. Would it be possible to implement something like this? Choosing 'yes' initiates the rest of the process -- checking for fret hand positioning, chord fingering, etc.
