  3. Hi, folks. The latest hotfix (4-21-2016) is in the first post. Changes are as follows: *Fixed a bug with the previous commit that would cause the spectogram and waveform to be destroyed when performing undo or redo. *Fixed some warning checks that are performed during save to not incorrectly warn about bend tech notes. *Fixed a RS2 export bug where if a chord or single note had a length of 1ms and had bend or slide technique applied by a tech note, the corresponding chordnote or note tags would have a sustain of 0ms instead of 1ms. *Fixed a GP import bug where hammer on or pull off technique from the current note wouldn't be handled correctly if the next note was in a different measure. *Improved Sonic Visualizer import to ignore labeling data that do not define tempos, where previously the tempo would end earlier than it should. *Improved the conditional selection functions to allow normal, mute and ghost gem type criteria to be specified when a pro guitar track is active. *Changed chordify logic so that if a gem in an affected chord has any playable technique, it is written with an ignored single note with a minimum sustain of 1ms to ensure it displays appropriately in-game. The crazy and "high dens" statuses will now be able to force a chordified chord to export as low or high density regardless of the chord's contents (be aware that forcing a chord that has open notes and chordify status to be low density this way can cause graphical glitches in-game). Density changes the height of the chord box (high density -> shorter). Chords that have low density, no playing technique and no sustain status but have choridify status display notes that do not rotate as they approach the front of the screen in-game. *Fixed a Feedback import bug that could allow drum notes to be given forced HOPO status.

  6. There are a couple of problems with stuff like that... Some charters, like myself, create CDLC in nearly an hour, so the updates would be pointless, in that instance. Another problem would be those who start working on a CDLC, and update the 'progress bar', may not even finish the CDLC. So if someone else was going to make it and checked the progress bar, saw that it was like 50%, that someone else would just move on to another project, assuming that the CDLC would be made. In all reality, it doesn't take very long to make a CDLC. IMO, If someone said that they were going to work on a certain song one day, I would expect it to be done on that day. Cheers. The time it takes to make a CDLC depends on your method and how much attention you pay to small details. I can't recall the last time I made a CDLC in less than an hour. Creating your own arrangements, transcribing by ear, or simply fixing mistakes can take much longer. Even if you have a perfect GP file (which almost never happens), there's a fair bit of fiddling in EoF required in order to optimize things for Rocksmith. That could be slides, bends, tone changes, note sustains, arpeggios, hand shapes, sections, etc. If it only takes you an hour or less, there's a good chance you're just importing the tab and then skipping right to the Toolkit steps. That being said, the "progress bar" suggestion could be mildly useful, but it would never be an indicator of when a CDLC would be finished. People work in their spare time and obviously don't make any money creating CDLCs. Just because a song is "in progress" doesn't necessarily mean it will ever get finished. IMO it would be more important to have a better way to update and/or clean up the request section. There's so many songs in there that are being requested, while there are finished versions already in the database. Also, there's no way (at least that I know of) for the list to be updated when someone finishes a requested song.

  22. Hello Everyone, I don't usually post on these forums. Recently I revisited the idea of porting or cloning Rocksmith 2014 on Linux as Ubisoft have declared they won't be porting the game. I started at the GuitarSmith forums http://sourceforge.net/projects/guitarsmithand quickly found a C++ build of Frets on Fire. I have taken this version of the code and quickly implemented changes that allow it to render the notes in a way that's closer to Rocksmith. It's by no means finished yet, I'm still implementing the neck of the guitar and the full fret range. I am willing to share all of my code with anyone who wants it and am happy to put effort into it if there are other interested programmers. The code is currently known to run on Windows/Linux and should run on Mac but it hasn't been tested there. Based on Frets on Fire this engine should be simple to modify to at least use the Rocksmith projects made in Editor on Fire, and of course can currently use the Frets on Fire content. I am hoping to shatter the limitations of Rocksmith and add in (at least) 4 - 8 string guitar support if someone would like to add more guitars/instruments they would be welcome. I would love to add support for the Rocksmith CDLC. Now the cool/hard part: On the GuitarSmith forums someone has posted up the code for a JAVA based audio recognition engine which can process guitar notes and confirm if the correct note was played or not. I'd like help porting this from JAVA to C++ and creating the note samples. Included is a screenshot of my current progress to hopefully inspire people.

  23. Today on April 21, 2016 the legend Prince Rogers Nelson passed away at the age of 57. Cause of death: Unknown at the moment R.I.P Prince, you will be missed.

  24. Yea, very shocking. He was playing concerts earlier this month so it's something out of the blue. I read he wasn't feeling well and the next thing you know he's gone. Purple Rain was a HUGE influence on me. Looks like 2016 is continuing its devastating effect on great musicians. And it's only April. Thanks for posting the Prince songs. I'm gonna go try Purple Rain and hope it doesn't make me cry like a baby.

I always look at who did the song, just out of respect for the fun their effort is gonna give me. Thanks for your contributions LaceyB. I personally benefited a ton. Thanks to all the people that do these songs for all of us.

  26. I'm reluctant to ask again for help with the MC bass cdlc but, I really want to participate this week but it just doesn't seem to want to install. I've tried unpacking/repacking but it's not working. I have downloaded/deleted/redownloaded the CDLC from mediafire at least 30 times and every time it seems to DL VERY slowly. Anything else I download is really quick so it seems a bit odd to me that this one is so slow AND doesn't install. It either appears in my song selection list in game but is unplayable after the tuning screen (just a blank room, no note highway) OR it just doesn't appear in my Song selection list at all. I'm pretty certain I've followed the unpacking/repacking instructions correctly... It's very frustrating to not be able to take part in my category and I know it's only a bit of fun but as a self confessed obsessive and overbearing competitive player, I just wanna play! :(

  27. As far as Rocksmith is concerned, there's not really a good way to distinguish between pinch harmonics and the "harp harmonics" that you're describing. The best way that I know of would be to chart it as a normal pinch harmonic and and then perhaps describe the technique in the "author notes" section when you add it to the database. Hopefully Rocksmith's note recognition gets it right, but if it doesn't, you can use the "ignore" status on the harmonics so that they don't count against in the scoring. They'll still be displayed on the note highway, just not scored. Alternatively, you could chart the fretted note along with a tapped note an octave higher, designating the tapped note with an "ignore." The problem with this is that it would cause the in-game camera to zoom way out in order to view both notes. It might then be difficult to read/play. You'd also have use the "ignore" status on the tapped notes, since you're not really tapping there - just touching the string. Maybe try this method first, and after some testing, see if you prefer the first method. In which case, you can just delete the octave tapping notes. If anyone else knows a better way, then please do chime in.

  28. @@manchot66 Hi, Steve I think MTV had a lot to do with the change - Music and looks, wise - That's who I blame. My wife is the parrot head and I'm the Blues rocker, that's what made the line up of Jimmy Buffett / ZZ Top perfect for us. And I have to admit I wore eye liner once in the 80's but that was to an Alice Cooper Concert. :D The drummer in the garage band I was with suggested it - peer pressure. Later, Terry

  30. @@GetTheLedOut, This issue occurs at time "12.733" and "21.048" because sections start at these positions. In each case, the first note (with the "linknext" status) belongs to the preceding section and the following note (protected note) is located on the new section. DDC can avoid the generation of a new phrase when notes are protected by the "linknext" status, but can't do it for sections. When DD is used, each phrase in each section can evolve differently (different levels of difficulty), so, notes can be linked only if they belong to the same phrase (and logically to the same section). Hope that solves your issue ;)

  31. @@avdocatwork Hey, Terry, How did the dirty, long hair look of the 70's turn into the perms with frosted tips of the 80's? The music went the same way as the hairdos. The Neslons are prettier than most of the girls I've ever dated. I think a Nelson/Buffett concert would cause a riot full of people dressed as parrots, pirates, and bananas fighting guys wearing eye liner.

  38. During the re-negociation of the contract between Ubisoft and the right holder of this song for the transfer to Rocksmith 2014, no agreement where found leaving that song unavailable on Rocksmith 2014. The song still being playable on the original Rocksmith and the fact that any legal issue with Ubisoft (or any other big company that would want us gone) would mean the end of this site we don't want to take risk on those songs that didn't transfer over. Even if it seems unfair, it is this way for good reason that i hope you understand.
