So, I keep seeing songs where the lyrics do not have sustain, the words are not properly synced or are not broken up in syllables. Let's fix that! What you need: Ultrastar Creator: http://sourceforge.net/projects/usc/ EoF (duh) The lyrics for the song Got it? Let's start. 1) Open USC. 2) Click on the folder icon next to "mp3" to load the mp3 3) Select the language of the song (required), and fill in the artist/title (optional) 4) Copy and paste the lyrics into the nice, big white box (something something that's what she said) 5) Press the highlighted button that says abc-def: http://thumbnails112.imagebam.com/34888/44d592348875521.jpg This splits the words into syllables 6) This function is far from perfect. Check every word/syllable and make sure it is correct. 7) Done? Good. 8) Set playback speed to something lower than 100%. I've seen your lyrics. You're not that great of a timer. Save yourself some syncing trouble and set it slower. Go on, we'll wait. 9) Press play 10a) Sync it by pressing the spacebar. 10b) Here's the PRO TIP: Add sustain to the syllable or word by HOLDING DOWN THE DAMN SPACEBAR. 11) Done? ARE YOU SURE YOU ADDED SUSTAIN? 12) Do it again. Add the sustain this time, bastard. 13) Save the .txt file 14) Open your project file in EoF 15) Go to Song -> Track -> Part Vocals 16) Click on File -> Lyric Import 17) Import said lyric 18) You see these words? Think of them as notes. But instead of notes, they're words. But think of them as notes. With words. 19) Get your clap on (press c, insert joke here) 20) Play the song, check sync and sustain. 21) Something wrong? Select the word/syllable, and move it around just as you would a note. See #18. Same thing with the sustain. ARE YOU SURE YOU ADDED SUSTAIN? 22) In order to get dem nice linebreaks in the game, we have to mark the lines. So select the words that make a good line with ctrl or shift, press ctrl + m and BOOM! We are off! 23) You can check your lines in the info window when you're playing the song. That is what it will look like in the game

So I have played a host of songs at this point that have minor flaws but appear to be abandoned. Is there a request page setup for songs that need work? If not that would be sweet. There are a bunch of the low tuned bass songs that are charted correctly but do not recognize and have yet to receive the bass fix. For instance I would love to see "your going down" by the Sick Puppies corrected. It sounds correct to the ear but nothing recognizes.

For me, at least :) Since there's no intermediate rhythm this week, I tried both beginner and advanced. Busy start of the week, but I got around to trying the songs. Here's my thoughts on bass difficulty and first try scores: Biblical - Biffy Clyro: Beginner Bass Nice song. I wasn't as bad as the score would indicate, I just didn't give my bass enough time to settle in to Eb Drop Db and the detection was horrendous. Difficulty: 2 -- Pretty straightforward throughout. Slides and a bit more shifting stuff make it harder than Black Magic, but solidly fits in the Beginner bracket. Dig Up Her Bones - The Misfits: Intermediate Bass Another 1st try 100%, although if it had been score attack it would show that I definitely could use a few more runs to improve timing. Difficulty: 3-4 -- Limited shifting and string skipping, all confined to a standard small range. I think this one could be a higher-level Beginner song, or a low-level Intermediate. The toughest part of it is the sheer number of notes; nothing really fast or really technical. But, another fun and nice sounding song. Walking in the Shadow of the Blues - Whitesnake: Advanced Bass I should have had the 100%, got butterfingers. I'll try again in Score Attack when I get the chance! Difficulty: 4-5 -- Relatively straightforward throughout; nothing too technical or fast. Fretboard shifting and string skipping all in the 5th and octave type jumps that should be learned pretty early on. I think this would best fit as an Intermediate song on Bass, but in the selections this week I agree with pegging it as the 2nd hardest and therefore Advanced. Holy Wars... The Punishment Due - Megadeth: MC Bass This was my 2nd playthrough of the song, 1st was a couple weeks ago. Guess I was off my game compared to then. Difficulty: 10 -- This song is out of my league. Mainly due to the sheer speed plus fast string skipping and precisely spaced fretboard shifts requiring lightning quick reflexes and jumps. HOWEVER, if you ignore the intro and outro, the middle of the song is actually significantly easier. Not *easy*, but easier. So, if you load up the song and give up in the first few bars ... try again! Should be fun to see who can pull off the win this week. It won't be me -- I'll be quite pleased if I can just break the 95% accuracy barrier! :P
