  2. Hi guys! There are my first attempts on Rocksmith Championship! http://i.imgur.com/P4hP7Aw.jpg I have also tried the intrmediate song on bass but not sure if i can post it as well (agreed with motive that it is harder than ride the lightning) :)

  3. Took a day's rest after my 1st try on Ride the Lightning and came back to it tonight. Early on in my second go, I figured out the rhythm on the part with the open E's followed by open A's with quick hammer-ons to 1st fret -- I was missing pretty close to every single one of those my first try and now I've got a much better handle on them. SO, pretty big accuracy boost from 1st to 2nd attempts: Still haven't broken down and done any RR + slowdown yet. I think if I want another 2+% boost, I'm gonna have to do that so I can get the part stepping down from the 7th fret on A and alternating in a couple frets up on E. I'm just kinda faking my way through that at the moment.

  4. Something else you may want to look into, is taking an online course from a university. I am taking "Fundamentals of Music Theory" from the University of Edinburgh. Its not guitar centric (as a proper theory class should be). and its free. Quoting from the website: This course, from the University of Edinburgh's Reid School of Music (recently ranked first in the UK), is suitable for those who have never studied music academically. It will introduce you to the theory of Western music, providing you with the skills needed to read and write Western music notation, as well as to understand, analyse, and listen informedly. the link to the course is at https://www.coursera.org/course/musictheory

  8. Intermediate Lead - 91%, 113 streak: http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/585784102445021150/4774E27709A4933005BFF8373203D86F8192D50B/ That was fun. I was getting lost here and there but overall RR helped quite a lot. Intermediate Rhythm - 97.03%, 135 streak: http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/585784102445035482/F3AED112CCD57067A014127B283DD3E8062DA221/ Ride the Lightning is one of the very best Metallica songs. It's really fun to play it (even if you're poor :) ). MasterClass Lead - 70%, 55 streak: http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/585784102444935146/C6E7D4FAC7C964B6984B57EDFC6245DDED7B8054/ Well, this solo was the only one I couldn't handle in GH/RB from Metallica. It's really nice and it's great to finally see how it looks :D MasterClass Bass - 93%, 221 streak: http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/585784102444961028/965648871786FA37762C46229DFB04ADB2E223A5/ And here comes good score. I hoped to get 95%, so I'm going to push. Beginner Bass - 96.92%, 69 streak: http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/585784102444997108/EAF91DD0EF1C3C58DC08AA02C7308E20E8914150/ Lead is nightmare as my chord skills are pretty weak. Bass on the other hand was very nice and easy. Only problem I had was random misses all the way, though that can be due to not being familiar enough with my bass.

  13. Probably at some point, I just haven't decided how I wanted to implement it. A separate phrase type that behaves similarly to arpeggio phrases is kind of what I was leaning toward. I don't think Rocksmith will display fingering for any single note, only notes within a chord box. Your only other option may be to set the fret hand position to a lower fret than the note in question. For example, set the fret hand position to 5, so when they reach the note on fret 7, the note is on the 3rd highlighted lane and it implies the user should use their ring finger to play it. Ghost notes are not supported in Rocksmith, so EOF doesn't export them to XML. This would be complicated to achieve based on how EOF is designed. The middle mouse button (ie. scroll wheel click) brings up the edit pro guitar note dialog, but if you think it would be convenient, I could make a user preference for it to bring up the edit frets/fingering dialog instead. This would take a step out of the process (just hover the mouse over the note, middle click, type the finger numbering in). EOF doesn't put a 0 as a default value for fingerings, by default it's blank. For fret numbering, you don't even have to delete the 0, just type after it (it will consider "015" and "15" to be the same number). You can enter either the letter T or the number 0 to specify the use of the thumb in a chord fingering. EOF can't guess what the author's intention is, it only provides usable automated fingerings if none are manually defined. I can look into adding an edit button to that dialog. I don't know if Rocksmith 2 supports setting a fret hand position higher than 19. It is guaranteed to crash Rocksmith 1, and Rocksmith 2 doesn't score notes on frets higher than 22 from what I recall. I don't think it would be any more obvious if they were displayed in the 3D view. If you set the "top of 2D pane shows" preference to "hand pos", it will display exactly where all fret hand position changes are, including a vertical line showing how they line up with notes. This is the most accurate way they could possibly be displayed. It would, but that would take a very large amount of work. It's something I've previously added to a wish list of features. This is mostly a limitation of the graphics library EOF is using (Allegro). By design, GP import does not import any tempo changes. The best results are generally always achieved by manually syncing the beat markers, although some people also use tools like Go PlayAlong as another means of syncing the tablature, and then importing that timing data into EOF. If you really wanted to use a GP file's tempos as a starting point, you can have GP export a MIDI, and then import that MIDI in EOF as a new project. Just keep in mind that if you're using an audio recording instead of a synthesized performance, you'll still have to sync the chart to the audio.

  14. I had a guitar stolen along with a lot of electronics. We ended up catching the guys who broke into our house because after two weeks they decided they could learn how to play guitar and pawned it. They should have stolen my RockSmith and then they would be playing now instead of sitting in prison.

  24. I'm not sure if this is a problem of changing tuning. It's more a problem of tension of the strings. Lower stings don't break easy, but if they are under to much tension, they may loose sustain ability. If your higher string is very thin 0.8-0.10, you won't have to tighten it to much to tune it in a higher key It's easy to bend then. But if you use it for B-tuning, it will be to loose to keep the right note when pressing the fret. If the high string is bigger, 11, it's good for low tuning. But it needs a lot of tension to reach higher keys. What's worse, if you play lot of Santana like stuff with an 11, with lots of full bendings, it will hurt your fingers and break the strings. High strings get more bended notes. Finally, I've got a guitar with a fixed bridge to the wood, and one Ibanez with a flexible bridge, holden by two big springs on the back side. I never broke a string on the Ibanez, and bendings are much easier to do. Finally strings break at the tuning keys on the head. From a Physics point of view, a spring breaks early when it's too dry. My giant garage door spring broke because I forgot to keep it oiled. So maybe putting some vaseline like cream on the string close to the tuning knob to protect against humidity changes may be an experience to try for.

  26. I use Dropbox and a small third-party app to keep my dlc folders synced. You can't natively sync folders outside of Dropbox, but the app allows you to create symbolic links to the dlc folder, which then uploads the files to Dropbox. Using the same app on my desktop, I can then sync them there. That way everything is synced automatically and I don't have to worry about deleting, or waiting to copy every time I switch computers. I just sit down and play as if I never switched.

  27. Just to put one thought out there with regard to... One of the major reasons why RS is superior to learning just from tabs is that you can exactly hear what you are supposed to be playing. After intense playing for a couple of month, I get the feeling that I start to hear where my fingers are supposed to go (which is super awesome). Because of this, multitracks are not great for the purpose of learning the song. And maybe this is one reason why so many people voted for "no". Of course, having the choice to play with the band on your own when you have learned the song is extremely valuable. So as long as the full versions are still released, there really is no reason for complaint or saying "no" to multitracks. Regards, Azrael

  29. nothing new to say - slow is always better. Steve Vai said once something like "if you learn something new best speed is so slow that you can say "Mississippi" between two tones" I really hate it to play that slow and also tried the other way in the beginning (full speed and increasing difficulty) but since I changed my mind (which I did because I'm on the point where I really really want to learn playing the guitar after so many years) I had a huge improvement in my play. Now I do a lot of practice at ~60BPM (finger exercises, scales, etc.) and increase slowly when I make no mistakes for 3 attempts. Same on Rocksmith - I've to play a phrase 3 times without any mistakes to increase the speed for 5%. If 5% are to much (mostly when I reach 90%), I increase the speed by just 2%. Maybe (or for sure) it's not that much fun in the practise phase but the satisfaction and learning effect are much bigger at the end!

  30. Slow it down in the beginning and increase tempo when you are ready. There is no point in rushing through a song only hitting every 2nd note and still playing sloppy as hell. You will have a very hard time nailing a song. Apart from RS that's how you always should approach a song/lick or whatever you want to learn, play it slowly to begin with and get it clean. Learn the chords/notes and the changes you are supposed to do and play them as clean as possible. In fact playing it clean and slowly will sound much better than fast and sloppy. Its pretty easy to increase mere tempo after you nailed a phrase at slower speed.
